enforced cockpit puts at huge disadvantage those who lack trackir
well first let me tell you it hasnt to be this way:
the mouse view users may have noticed that when the virtual head pans right the head displaces right as well well i posted this idea like 8 years ago in the ubizoo, an scarry thing but like the pilot murder thing console message, another idea of mine, man no wonder about my hide camera joke paranoia, if i told you well the problem is that the displacement in sync with the pan GOTTA BE TWEAKABLE because theres no enough displacement per pan so petty plz someone tells me i can tweak that pan-displacement sync so we the mouse users are not in disadvanatge to those capitalist who spend thousands in their hobiie, would then there be any difference to the facebook games pay to win buying uber weapons and stuff? so please bring back wonderwoman view online or someone tells how to tweak the mouse view pan-displacement sync |
Anywhere the track IR can see, you can see with the mouse in IL2COD. There's no disadvantage in what you're viewing.
If your ass wasn't glued to the PC all day long, perhaps you could actually go out and earn enough money to buy stuff for hobbies you enjoy. Don't insult others for doing the same. |
You sure call them like you read them Bliss, no punches ever held back....I've got a little of that myself
|
the capitalist thing was a joke ;)
i was making a suggestion-question i work 22 hours a day fror a medium system if some rather works 70 for a top of the line system, well we live in the free wolrd |
The modern virtual pilot (post IL-2 1946) by now should know that the “simulation” doesn’t just stop with the software; you really “must” have all the hardware that goes along with it to get the most out of it. This is especially true if you’re flying online competitively. You can only go so far with just the software.

Spot on Bliss. |
I only have time to play a couple of hours a week, please Ic limit other players from playing more than me, those joystick monkeys have an unfair advantage! :-?
But in all seriousness i no idea what the hell "pan-displacement sync" is. But it sounds horrible, i feel for you. |
well shift+f1 is just what i meant, now i dont feel at disadvantage aginst trackir users :)

Raaid, set yourself a freetrack setup, it is really easy and works great with CLOD. You will spend like 10 dollars, or probably nothing if you got the parts in your house; strip one led flashlight for the leds, destroy some old electronic stuff to get the resistors, some glue and an old cap.

.
Without a Trackir you need 3 hands to play this game; joystick, throttle, mouse. I have a Trackir but during the day due to a bad orientation of the room where I play in the trackir is unusable to much sun. Now a PC and all accessories to play a air simulation is very expensive, extremely expensive, especially so for a game like COD how ask for the last PC with the TOP CPU and TOP graphic card(s) a lot of memory of the TOP quality and a great tower to put all this into it to keep it cool. Top money for top simulation. But do not forget; if you love it you do not count...:-P |

Two hands if there is a mini stick on the throttle, such as CH. |

If you've been simming for 8 years don't you think an investment in freetrack for $20 would've been worthwhile? |

Bug*er me that was a waste of a click on my mobile whilst on my break..however Bliss's first reply was indeed hilarious...
|
i meant 22 hours a week, 4 hours a day plus 2 hours the saturdays
i dont need more money since ill probabaly try free track edit: i fly one hand on joystick and the other in the mouse, i have two buttoms for throtle, full throtle, zero throtle, i need no more :) i think this game should posibly be used without a head tracker as the mouse is in shift+f1 to look behind a bar you just have to pan slightly which is great i see a great future for this game with its potential |
The viewing routines have to be reworked, as already stated in bugtracker and many people there gave thiese tickets on ru bugtracker and on english bugtracker a vote.
The whole situation with shift+f1 (fasten seatbelt toggle) is okay for revisight and non revi sight, but the limitation in viewing angles makes the game totally incompetitive, especially for fighter pilots. You have enough to do with motor management and prop pitch, etc. We simply need a easier routine, e.g. the old il2 1946 viewing. Flying with mouse is even worse, because u need a third device, if such thing isn't implemeted on your hotas. Many friends are not willing to fly against other fighter pilots, because they are not satisfied with it and they generally fly a lot worse, than before. Losing target because of a nonsense feature is a dead criteria, even for me. I will not fly clanmatches until they changed that. Especially for a 109 pilot with revi slightly out of middle, this is a non flyable fighter, if it comes to good dogfighting. And I am personally 3 or 4 times in dogfighting just with that weird viewing routine and its bugs. No dogfight possible, because u lose sight in several situations, because you forgot to switch back with shift+f1. That is my opinion ;) see bugtracker. |
Trackir rocks.
You lose out if you dont want to spend the money. Simple as |
I never used TrakcIR and probably never get used (I tried facetrack and dislike it) :!:
I use NewView (you control freely your views with hat), for me a better solution that not hurt my neck :) Is also possible configure 6DOF positions... Try using it! You can download from our forum (in Portuguese - google is your firend): http://www.gavca.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=21760 Here de developers forum: http://translate.google.com.br/trans...baf068&act=url But some links are broken.. Cheers! |
+1 on new view or other tool.for joystick free view. Please never use mouse while flying. I mean, I would get even more sick and die of epileptical shock, when I should move joystick with my good hand and additionally do motor management, prop pitch, mixtures, firing mg's, throw bombs and additionally do something different and unnatural with my bad hand, like looking around.
I would get pissed after 1 minute and quit playing games in general. I would never kill anybody in a hundred years. And viewing behind with leaning to the side? How do you do that? Flying scissors, jojos and barrel rolls in dogfights and keep the enemy in sight would be unlearnable for my brain. I mean: Even if I coordinate that, I wouldn't be able to change prop pitch, mixture, flaps, throttle. Where are all those buttons? On the stick? I would not hit any target while pushing buttons on my stick every 2 seconds :) Honestly, that wouldn't be fun for me and I would quit playing. A Freetrack is for fun and also cost some more bucks, if you do it right. The cam with good fov and a lot of fps, the ir-led's, ballasts and other electrical parts like mini usb port for charging batteries (if you want it wireless) . I personally switched to trackir, because of the cam ( some years ago, you rarely find 60fps cams or more ). I use active light tracking. Sun can burn directly into the cam without interference. I use my old track clip from freetrack times with ir-led having a wider degree of emitting and it is slightly bigger, which exceeds the limits, too. It is driven by usb power connection. By far better than the track clip pro! ;) |
I have no idea why forum rules apply to everyone but raaaid. I took a screenshot of his F bomb he laid down recently and it was quietly deleted. I've seen others banned for much less and without any words like this. But trackir is worth the money.
|
I thought he was leaving. I even wasted keyboard strokes and said "bye" :(
|
well facetracknoir is great but i have a serious prblem now:
panning has lag both in mouse view and head tracking anyway around this? |
move your head slower or get an active LED setup and switch to freetrack? the API is still pretty new for facetracknoir, it will get faster if they keep working on it.
but i bit the bullet and boought trackIR, its way WAY better than freetrack/ftnir |

I used TrackIR for years and never ever had a bad neck and never heard of anyone else getting one using it. With my setup i dont turn my head more than 30 degrees from front. |
If anyone gets a sore neck from using TrackIR then I suspect there is an underlying issue at hand ...
a) Your wearing something on your head that is heavy i.e. headphones b) You need new pillows c) You need physiotherapy d) You need to stop staring at girl's arses when they walk past, walk backwards instead ;) |
I only have time to play a couple of hours a week

I have not actually fired up a flight sim for months.
However I adamantly declare that every time over the past few months that I did not play a flight sim , I invariably used trackIr to not play it. Is this cheating? |
Quote:
Hardly.. TRACKIR 5 $149.95 http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/products/trackir5/ And anyone that thinks TIR is cheating is just silly TIR is the best thing to happen to flight sims since the introduction of the joystick |
well having an adavantage is not cheating
but to enforce my trust in the fairness of the universe im just happen to be using the last beta from facetracnoir i dont think its any different to trackir and im doing with an 8 years old cheap gift webcam some thoughts on trackir flaws ive found so far: the roll axe is redundant and should be assigned if desired to zoom, rolling the head 180º makes you see this text upside down so theres no need to axign it an axe, its redudndant when you look back and you translate your real head right the virtual pilot translates left, i think translation axes should be taken from the position your currently looking at theres an inherent unreality in 6dof, if you translate to the front youll notice whats on the screen is not real for everything becoming apparently bigger, when you move front 6dof should shrink everything in the screen to keep the reality illyusion edit: finally now ill be able to fly hotas instead of using the mouse hotas for me stands for hands on trim and stick, since the part that wears out the most of a pilot glove is that in conctact with the trim :) |

Given that you don't have TrackIR I'd love to know how you found your "flaws". I have no idea what on earth you mean about the roll axis. I have never seen a webpage rotate in relation to my TrackIR movements. There is also a thing called "settings" or "preferences". When I look back over the tail of my SE5a and move my head to one side, the virtual head moves to that side relative to the direction I'm looking. E.g. if I look back and then move my head right then my virtual head also moves right relative to the direction I am looking; the head moves to the port side of the cockpit and this is correct. In 6DOF if you have zoom enabled and move closer to the device then everything gets bigger. I have never heard of getting closer to something and it looks smaller. The scale may not be perfect and so on in game but it doesn't get smaller. So, either you're posting rubbish to get a reaction (worthy of a ban that just won't happen) or you don't have a clue what you're talking about. Again. Hood |

to fully understand it jump to 3:33 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jd3-eiid-Uw like its very strange this thread has encouraged me to try a webcam head tracker that so far works great, facetracknoir, i do recomend it a lot |
