Thanks Ivan. Much appreciated.
Lots of great shots. I left as the P 51 and P 40 were in flight. I saw a fly by and was amazed at how close they were. I swear they were gonna touch wings. |
Great photos. Thanks for posting them.

Yeah.. I left Sunday after the ride.. Mamabear went with me this year... I had to get home so I could get ready for my daughter's HS graduation the next day... but I was looking for you... LOL>. I walked up to a few tall bald guys.. when they turned aroud they gave me a funny look... LOL.. |
Ivan,
thanks for the nice pics. By looking at the P40 picture I finally understood why even with very high resolution textures, and all the right lighting, shadows reflections, and even metal paint cracks and chipped flakes etc. still the computer generated images of the airplane still misses something and looks too clean. What is missing is that the metal skin is never a perfect surface. You have slight bumps, and ondulation of the metal foil between the riveted structure. This is normal as the metal skin is also working and participates to the overall strength of the airfarme. These surface modifications even when very slight do affect the way the light is reflected and our brain gets it. Our eye is a tremendously precise and unforgiving vision tool. Maybe I miss other things too, like in the real world the paint coat as painted in the 1940's was never perfectly the same on all the airframe etc. etc. Gold |

Thanks Ivan. I MUST go next year, two years of saying I'm gonna go then getting "to busy" is enough. I mean, really; what could be more important than drooling over sexy WWII hardware.

Great pics! Thanks for posting. Neal |
Great pics!
The Russian machine guns are very cool. I'd like to see them up close. While the Corsair is so impressive, obviously my favorite is the Jug. p.s. - Did you get permission from Grumman to post the Avenger pics? ;) TB |
Dang! Missed it again this year.
Thanks for the pics. |
