I honestly think your full of. |
the chief machinist behind the law earns more than a captain due to offer and demand
i would be a second machinist oficial in any ship 70000 a year its 6000 a motn more or less http://www.jobmonkey.com/maritimejobs/second_mate.html The salary for a second mate ranges from $300-$500 a day, depending on the ship, company or union you work for. 500*30=15000:rolleyes: edit: maybe you look down on me cause i could be the elite if i wanted but rather to be poor and happy |
GZ, Raaaid!
The only thing i learned from my studies is that it was better for me to do what i wanted to do. That`s why i threw it away, and went surfing. The money came later, but it came. |
today i had an exam of one of the two left easy subjects
i was the only left since he passed evrybody who went to class i could have done the exam but this month was overloaded so i decided to leave it for december, the physics exam drained me the thing is that ive been the biggest stupid i finished the fist 3 years of english philology and decided not to take the next two well from a place where there was nearly all girls to a place nearly all male  for gods sake doesnt matter if i make a million a month i wont work in a grey place with no females who would put flowers? that why this summer im trying to take a sculpting course, you cant get more colour than working with artist who inhale trementine(yes our little secret) check out my favourite work http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZtkh9nL7q4 |

- You can get a job where you get to play with lots of expensive technical toys and sometimes blow sh@t up. - OR you can get a job where there are lots of cute women. In the movies the exciting techo careers are also filled with hot women (as a romantic interest) who have a PhD in something or other, or are career military, or are some sort of Intelligence Agency operative - but in real life the two do not go together at all. Ask any mining engineer. |

Once more, Raaaid provides a beacon of sanity in this Bedlam. The rest of us are tying to put the world to rights, while he concentrates on what matters - being who he wants to be, even if it confuses the hell out of everyone else...

Do you have any idea how much a student actually costs? In Switzerland it's €20-25k(taxpayer money), a year, for each one of them. Universities are not a public service but an investment of your country - in you. |
whats more of a drain for society:
eductaing your self and making art cause you need litle so need to work litle so you have much time or being a banker and robbing people |
Not much difference, you're both taking money from people for your own gain and giving nothing back.

Rock on Raaaid, rock on. :D |

How do you finance your cost of living? Those €25 are nowhere enough. |
how can i be a drain for society if my only consumptions is:
food meds 10 euro a day for ziggies beer and coffe are you joking maybe people like me should be deprived of food is that what you mean? edit: my folks are upper class the pay me everything and solved my life(i even have a house though i live with my folks) in exchange i finish the degree studing 4 hours a day so my moms happy thats whi i wont be contributing to the gene poll: i wont take the responsability and this world is too horrible, at least appears so |

So we have food: €15 Zigs, coffee & beer: €10 meds: how much, who pays for them? rent/power/phone: ? Social security/insurances: ? edit: I see - hard to believe you're happy with the situation. But, given you're funded "internally" it's ok. Got very similar background, took different path somewhere tho'. |
yeah well im starting contributing society and exchanging the 4 hours of study for four hours of teching at 12 euro per hour
theres no much people who have a diploma in letters and another in science i know latin and fluid mechanics besides my plan is open a non totally legal academy and teach kids of few resources in groups for low prizes youre confused i know a guy who gets 1000 euro from the state cause he is crazy, i know other who gets 300 but lives with his family they are not drain, they should not be deprived from oxigene a drain fro society are those who steal did you know the last big thieve jailed in sapin was roldan 20 years ago jaume matas a minister was sentenced to five years in jail but he didnt enter those are the parasits |
Whos he kidding?? He's off to the only country left with well paid jobs - Australia where engineers can earn $150,000+
Just watch the movie "Red Dog" and you'll get an understanding of the conditions. . |

BTW ... raaid is talkingbaout becoming a ships engineer working in the engine room on a boat, not a professional engineer designing bridges, dams and machinery. They are two totally different things. |
Well done raaaid- ignore the negative posts.

Two of my sisters are married to Miners. One works underground at Mount Isa and the other in open cut coal out of Townsville. They really appreciate the money which is awesome for two guys who basically left school at year 10 and where previously a truck driver and a farm hand on cr@p wages. They do not however have a lot of respect for the mining companies or management. |

A ships engineer is a pretty cool gig though. You get, "down and dirty", with the guts of the ship keeping everything in working order. It requires a wide breadth of knowledge across multiple systems. From electrical, control systems, mechanical equipment, and piping, it's all in there. It's a good deal for those that are mechanically minded, want to go farther than working on cars, and don't mind the fact that you spend most of your time on a ship. Whenever I go on a live aboard dive cruise I always try and spend some time with the engineer down in the engine room. It's always a load of fun. Those big diesels (big for me, not compared to a super tanker or container ship!!) are pretty cool. If I ever win the lottery I'm going to nab a 60' - 100' yacht for myself and get a captain's certificate so I can hit the open seas whenever and wherever I want! --Outlaw. |

New engineering graduates are coming in at decent rates although not as good as it was a couple of years before the slump. Back then a new grad process engineer could start at $37 and hour (USD)! --Outlaw. |

Yea I looked at engineers rates for a fresh engineer and they were between 20 and 37k GBP. Some of the more experience Engineers was around 50 to 75k GBP. Im hoping the renewable energy sector will be quite prospuros in the future so Im going with that one. Plus there must be some reward in making enrgy cleanly. :-P |

they even employ tons of unpaid students to lower dev cost giving them (very boring) design project, even on a CAD stations with a full access to the design Model ! (When I started myself on CATIA V4 we had numerous security check implemented) And then they say to the share holders that they are fighting hard to keep the program on track, budget and schedule. BS! Everybody know since Ford that attention is a function of the worker's motivation. And the lack of attention cost a lot at this level of responsibility. A very basic rule of management dump down the flush just to cut cost even more when we are already eating our own tail like a snake. There is nothing good that way. But still engineering is a rewarding job. Hold on ! |
