Nice work who told u?

S!
Has been mentioned here in Troubleshooting. But good to bring it up again for those who have not seen it or do not use SEARCH :) |

Wohoo!!! Hope this will work for my rig too :)

Dude this is bloody awesome! That did so much for me, wicked!! Thank you, and thanks to whoever first found this! I think people are kind of sick and hopeless of looking at troubleshooting... I suggest this is kept here so people can find this- the many people who have already 'given up' a long time ago on some quick fix. |
Did it but no gain, my game was probably all working as it should and i am contented with it. Have to try it online otherwise, offline no big results.
Greetz, Allons! |
It sure smoothed things out for me, stutter-wise. Thanks, JTDawg!
This little "repair fixit" should be stickied -- it's helped a lot of people. I suppose with all the net- and Directx- based programs and utilities we install and uninstall on our PC's, the odd file here or there is apt to get corrupted or go missing. |
i had to repair it twice before it actually did anything. secong time trying it asked for a restart afterwards.
smooth game now, thanks JT |
Gave me a nice iron over the smooth bumps, however dust still kills on take off!:-P
|
Hey, JT, I know it doesn't fix trees popping up, but have you had any opportunity to engage human-flown enemy bombers yet? I remember on my PC (pre-"fixit") that this was a showstopper when attacking Bliss and five others in their Ju88 formation. Every time I would go near 'em, my frame rate would instantly drop from the high eighties down to ONE (count 'em: ONE! LOL). It was hard just to stay in the air during this slideshow, but when the enemy formation was past (by a mile or so), the frame rate would quickly go back to normal. I tried re-engaging this human-flown formation three more times; same result each time. Never a problem with AI-flown bomber formations, though. I'm hoping your "fixit" addresses this problem.
|
I have a feeling this is caused by or is the basis of a steam issue. Everytime I start CloD from the steam menu it attempts an install of "VC redist" (or something like that, I'm not at my computer). I'm guessing the files it installs are an older version associated with the official patch and probably has something to do with .NET Framework and directX. I remember this being an issue with another steam game, TF2 I think, of course TF2 being Valve's golden child a hotfix was applied within the hour.

This might be important for some people, so keep this thread on topic please.
|
No diference to me. Micro stutters still there over citys at low alt.
The game works well to me at high alt. |
Same here. Frames are good but ground micro stutters are still there after trying this fix.
|
Worth a try for all I think!
|
No change for me, maybe it works for lower spec configs better than high?

Didn't work for me. Still bad stutters over cities and with damage to aircraft I shoot. Great fps, bad stutters. Over clear blue water very few stutters except with damage.

I'm running every option including ssao and vsync and over water not a single gitch , looks great . My rig is pretty average i7 860 with 2.8GZ 16GB ram and a GTX 570. Over land there is a very slight slowdown but no lurches ..Ao I would say yes the trick works great .
|
Worked awesome for me. Was great to have everything on max and fly through explosions without any slow down at all. Really cool. Thanks for your post mate.
|
Can't really tell if it's working for me.
On ATAG this morning attacking large formations of AI bombers 20+ escorted by 4+ player 109's. Everyting going smooth and slick until I got within range of the bombers and it turned into a slide show. (I was attacked during the slide show and got into a spin, fell from 19,000' finally recovering at 1,000'!!! tried everything, conventional recovery no good :( ended up with gear and flaps down and engine off before I stopped the Autorotation! :) then quick engine start and back up to the fight and repeat the whole process! Except before I spun this time I managed to take the wing off a ju-88 :) bit like dogfighting in PowerPoint! ) Could be my ping rate 290ms+ but no joy for me. :( |
S!
Skoshi, that was one funny description :D Power point : Battle of the Slide show! :D |
Skoshi... have a saying in the Army...death by PowerPoint.. quite abt really
I've seen smoother game play by doing this, haven't tested it yet though with big formations |

BEWARE!!!!! I decided to try the above out of interest (and stupidity) even though I wasn't experiencing stutters or poor frame-rates. The result:- Halved fps, stutters, slow loading of textures ie a completely borked game. If you're already running ok my advice is to leave well alone! |

What are your system specs though? |

Stop giving people false hopes! I have tried your miracle guide, there is no betterment! Mind you I have a top spec system as well : 3930K @ 4.8GHz and 680 gtx! Stutter, popping trees, flickering shadows various other anomalies etc. They will have to fix it by reprogramming. Given what was delivered so far I am only cautiously optimistic about it! |

He never mentioned it would fix various game bugs like the tree problem! |

if it doesn't work just do a system restore from your back-up...;) |
Made zero difference for me, as expected.
|
No difference for me, still stutters
|
but, what is your system specs?
|

It is simple to add them to your sig, then a pattern may emerge for what works and what doesn't and why |
smoother but still with low-level-micro-freezes for me.
Good one, worth a try and thank you! |
hmmmm weird... after the repair, my system never asks for restart of the computer... it just says that its finished with repairing and thats it...
Im using win 7. |

Lots of conflicting reports. Your fixit seemed to work well for some, and no difference for others (about 50/50 I would guess). One report of worse performance! Since it is a dual-repair procedure, my guess it that it benefits those PC's that have had a lot of other programs installed/uninstalled that possibly have disrupted something in the NET and/or Directx settings. |

yes if it doesnt ask for a restart, restart anyway and do it again, see if it does it.

Didn't make any difference for me.
|
Did get rid of >90% of the stutters for me - roughly estimated - after a quickie on ATAG.
No apparant fps gain though, but that was not expected either. Many thanks, got to let the guys hear about this! |
Just looking at other factors that could be causing my slde show effect when nearing bombers.
I got on to my router and found that even though my line attenuation is ok (40db) my noise margin is less than 6db (over yesterday I saw it go from 3.4 to 5.4 where is is now) This is extremely extremely poor. Until I can get my noise marging into an acceptable range I doubt my experience with the fix can't be used as a guide. It's interesting that the stutters occur when getting within gun range of the bomber flight. I wonder if there is a bubble around player and net traffic increase objects get inside that bubble? Dev's?????? (I've been unplugging phones and swapping the router between phone ports and it doesn't seem to be improving. not sure if the issue is external :( ) Cheers! Edit: Just had a go on ATAG, Sim ran perfectly with 20 Players in game. Attacked a group of 8 JU88's with out a single stutter. Hmmm, my noise margin was fairly bad (4.8db) and my ping was 270. There was no other player aircraft around during my attack (friend or foe). No other changes to settings or my system. |
Thanks Attila it worked for me :)
The game runs good before this but after doing this explosions or dusk or flying low with grass on are much smoother as before. The stutters are mostly gone |
I did as advised and started the game. Looked like I left the epilepsy filter. All screwed up. Went out of the game and checked, no epilepsy filter on. Decided to restart the computer. That did the trick. The game is now smooth in single card mode. SLI mode still has a stutter here and there but it's less than before.
|
no change for me either
but thanks anyway;) |
Confirmed, that is working for me! Huge fps drops totally disappeared!

Have done a complete search for Microsoft.Net etc.etc& thru a search I've found the folder, but trying to open it ,it says its empty& I'm not sure how to progress...can you give me a clue?

Didn't fix it for me, even did a complete uninstall/reinstall of the .net framework.
Too bad, guess i'll continue to take off at 5FPS :( |

This seems to have made a bit of a positive difference! Thanks again-every little bit helps!!!! |

Worked great for me!! thx!
|
It made it worse for me...
I'm beginning to think it might be because of a fairly old cpu. 56RAF_phoenix Q9550 (if I remember right) AMD7950 flashed into a 7970 6 GB RAM 2 SSD |
not works for me...
perhaps it's juste the fault of the game... ;) |

Mixed results. In fairness I do see less stutters and where I used to see the propeller 'pause' occasionally, I don't get that now.
I do get slow down when there is an explosion but generally it plays smoother. Mixed results now because every time I complete one of the Single Missions and hit refly, the Launcher crashes and I have to restart the whole game again. Didn't notice it before this :( I too though do like the new tracers. Cheers, MP |
Although I haven't played Cliffs for awhile because I don't do beta patches I can say this procedure has made improvements in other games I play, like a popular FP shooter and MMO, as well as web surfing.
|
Just gave it a go too. No change for me, still at 27 fps at all combinations of graphics settings from high to low. I5 2500k, 16gb DDR3, 1gb GTS450.
|
Anything similar for us WinXP users? I tried to find a similar thing in the Control Panel but nothing seen.
|
I just noticed some odd behavior while flying, it seems my CPU keeps underclocking it self constantly, then spiking up again, the values are constantly between 1.6ghz and 4.9ghz, when i disabled power saving and forced it to stay at 4.9ghz constantly i actually had better performance during take off.
This probably only applies to my PC, but it was behavior i have not seen in other games, or in the previous beta patch. |
I don't have much time lately to completely read through long threads or search the internet so I am asking how this is done for XP32 users.
|
Quote:
I have it on my XP32 the last official release, and it runs fine on that set up, same PC for both installs. Most of my flying is done on my Win 7 though. I would recommend you to strive to upgrade to Win7 64b if that is possible for you. |
Mostly what SlipBall said.
DX9 in the latest Beta patch is working excellent overall, through you´ll face the usual DX9 limitations as low resolution shadows and a lower resolution on textures. The performance is also more smooth in DX10 than in DX9, guess that is because the use of deferred pipeline rendering in DX10. |
