whats the best game of history in your opinion? |
Jet Set Willy:cool:
|
For me, IL2 for bang for buck, sheer fun, excitement and longevity.
FPS - THief 2 or Operation Flashpoint (the original). Sheer outright lunacy and co-op fun - Serious Sam. Hood |
Head over Heels

Tricky one, hmmm.....as far as strategy goes, Rome: Total War is my favorite. One game that really surprised me was Portal, a couple of years ago Valve actually gave it away for free to all Steam users IIRC and I'd heard it was good but man was that some of the most enjoyable 3,7 hours of my gaming life! One of the shortest PC games I've played but maybe the most concentrated amount of fun and fair challenge, great game! Haven't played Portal 2 yet though. SimCity 2000 is also an old favorite, had it on Mac back in the day, guess that counts since the Mac and PC versions were the same. Good thread BTW!

Id have to say i got 3 all time fav's...... Cannon Fodder... kill a guy, watch him jump 10 meters in the air lmao :P IL2 is my 2nd fav, up until cliffs, was the 2nd best flight sim ive ever played.... but number one for me has to goto warbirds :D absolutely loved the gameplay, i felt taking a fighter on a field capture mission was definitly a multirole mission.... mud move, escort and cap all in one run! I put in many years with that game, ran a squadron for several of them (some hectik guys in the squad), and have most of my best gaming memories from it :)
|
GhostRecon the original PC version :-)
|
IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover. :)
|
Hmmm...
Going by most hours played, I reckon: Darkest Hour IL2 Combat Mission BB Various Total Wars For nostalgia: Doom2 SimCity 2000 I know Deus Ex is "supposed" to be the best, but , like raaaid, I only stuck it for a couple of hours |

TIE Fighter (and "Defender of the Empire") - I still wish LucasArts would wake up and do a modern re-make of their classic snubfighter games. *insert goofy smilie thinking of the good old times here* |

I always hated those little A-Wings! |
Probably the one that brought me the most fun AND entertainment:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNhus...feature=relmfu Great funky music, cool storyline and epic "dogfights" in muscle cars, gotta love it! I'd love if someone made a remake of it with today's technology 8)8) |
Best game ever played, was for me.

My top three games (in order of hours played):
1) Operation Flashpoint 2) IL2 3) Half Life The titles that got me into serious gaming: - Hidden & Dangerous (so advanced and immersive for a 1999 title, genuine suspense and tactics) - Age of Empires (LAN play with housemates) Haven't played since 2002, but still have all the noises and sounds seared into my memory - Command and Conquer Red Alert (LAN play with housemates) Legendary - Syndicate |
-North & South
http://www.lemonamiga.com/games/scre...d_south_02.png -Kaiser (Amiga500) -Wing Commander and... Strike Commander, which I would love to see redone |
Hard one.
For game, maybe Thief 1 and or 2 and SS1 / SS2 too and hard not to consider Dues Ex in this category, these looking back were all games that gave me a lot of pleasure and modern games cant touch them for playability and re-playability IMHO. For simulation, The MS Flight sim franchise (not MS Flight) and like it or loathe it FSX with select add ons takes some beating, hopefully P3D with the future DX11 update will be the future platform since Microsoft seemed to have bowed out of serious Flight Simulation now. For WW2/1 Flight Sim, EAW, PAW 1942, IL2 series and Cliffs of Dover, RoF. For Jet Combat Flight Sim, EF2000 hands down, Falcon 4 and in its current state BMS 4.32 and DI Tornado. |
Myst.

It's a tie IL-2 2001 and IL-2 1946. A five year gap between the two and both were the best for their time. I think in time CLOD will become great too.

i never was much of a gamer neither on consoles nor on pc.i only came to flight sims, because of birds of prey on the xbox, and my fascination for planes since i was a kid.then because of birds of prey, i became aware of the dev updates of CLOD and the existence of 1946.so i saw this one video of "Storm of War" where you see the spitfire over the channel doing some loops, with the sunlit clouds in the background, the beautiful shadows in the pit, and the breaking waves on the channel a couple of thousands feet below the spit.the channel reflecting the sun perfectly, and all the nice shadows of clouds on it as well....i was like WAOH!i gonna have to buy this once this is out!this will be major!
so i decided to buy 1946 to prepare myself for the upcoming ultimate immersion of beeing a fighterpilot.went to the store, and bought it for 4,5Euros.best investement so far in my life i think. so for me, the best game so far is 1946.i wish CLOD will once substitute it though. |
yeah i think the game i played the most in my life is the old il2 :)
but it became boring when i found out the uberness of the 190 tactics :( |
Best sim: rFactor. Best FPS: Half-Life 2.
|
1994 i was playing the best sim at this time:

if you just kept your word. |
Baldur's Gate, its sequel and expansion. But it's only comparable to itself though. Best experience I've had with a game.

alex kid in miracle world as it was my first of many.
|
Elite, the original. Damn Thargons. Hours and hours on my electron 32k computer, and then on an Atari ST.
Then Tie fighter, got my first PC a DX2 66 just to play that, although may have told my parents that i needed it for university work:eek:...... |
