What scares me is usually when there is a great depression, there is a great war...
Watching the doc now. ;) EDIT: Never mind, this isnt a documentary its TYT... :( I cant stand those idiots. |
Just pay attention to what happens over the next 10 - 15 years it will be very important.
Remember the Weimar Republic and what comes from a nation in debt, a people filled with depression and hopelessness. They gravitate to people that promise them answers and solutions because hungry people do not make wise decisions. http://i.imgur.com/1mKwn.png |
in part the low yields, its a flight to safety. mostly due to what is going on with the euro. that's why the yields at record lows. that's why bank runs in greece. its a contagion that is spreading. the yields are also low due to central bank policies.
always listen to what the bond market is telling you over what the stock market is telling you. stock market is for the computer algorithm/speculator/day trader crowd and is being propped up by the fed. so, if your long term investor, I would just stay away from it for now until things settle out. it could be few more years. preserve your capital for now. this is jmho. facebook ipo, what a joke. just had to say it again.:-P |

already we have a more socialist government in france, and i know other countries are seeing a rise in their right wing parties. a departure from the mostly centrist governments towards either extreme is not unimaginable. throw in a bit of anti-immigration stuff for good measure, that always unites people. |

Lets just make sure we agree on something. The biggest example of labeling someone right wing was the Nazi party. They are Nationalist Socialist. There isn't anything in Europe but big government types. So don't confuse the right and the left in Europe with a left/right in the US and A. They're not every remotely close. In Europe Right and Left are Socialist. |

I just want to make sure the casual readers whose minds are absorbing things understand that when someone tosses out right wing it depends on what soil you stand as to its meaning.
The "right wing" in Europe are as far as fiscal policy and governance is identical. There was only a very small difference between USSR and Nazi governance. Heck even the flags looked almost identical. Blazing red background on flag - check. Ban all other political parties except one - check. The state is the official religion - check. Shall I do on?? |

Over a cup of tea? Economics are pretty complicated, you only have two options: - spend a few hundred hours learning it on your own - get a degree. ;) |

In Europe right and left are socialist?!? I have rarely heard such complete and utter ignorance. Beyond belief. I suppose when you find yourself standing at the far extreme of the right wing, then everyone, absolutely everyone else is to your left. This may come as news to you guys but most Europeans shake their heads in disbelief at the US lack of a proper social support network or a proper system of healthcare for the whole population. Most of us view it as 'uncivilised'. So keep your smarmy sense of right-wing arrogance. We don't need it. |

comparing two totalitarian regimes (soviet russia and nazi germany) doesn't really work http://esl.fis.edu/learners/support/...t/spectrum.htm. the political spectrum is a circle, the extremes resemble each other in many many ways. away from the extremes the difference is more obvious. the right go for lower public spending and lower taxation, usually towards the top end of the earning scale. the left spend more and tax more. the right also tend more towards xenophobic isolationism and tend to have a more anti-immigration leaning than the left. http://www.dargue.co.uk/wp-content/u...2/new-grid.jpg america is like this http://www.dargue.co.uk/wp-content/u...ctrum_0111.jpg |
yep. a liberal is a jack ass and a conservative never forgets.

What ever happened to the good Democrats from a long time ago?
And where are the Progressives on this chat? Today both Republicans and Democrats have been co-opted by Progressives. |
