I love Wes Anderson's signature style: The Acquatic Life With Steve Zissou is one of my favourite movies of all times :)

David Hayward 05-08-2012 07:45 PM

I've been told that this is Anderson's best movie.

The movie debuts at Cannes in 1 week. Does anyone know of any good restaurants in Cannes?

no, but I can tell you the expensive ones.. all of them!

Any cheap ones? My brother may need some food if he can't get into the premiere party.

mmmh don't know really man, you might be luckier asking our French friends here. When I went even the sandwiches had Gucci price tags on them :(

David Hayward 05-09-2012 03:04 PM

That's ok, he'll probably get into the party.

I'm yanking your chains a little. Look at the names of the actors in the movie.

She's only 12. She's my niece.

LOL sorry didn't realise she's one of the leading actors! She looks older on the IMDB picture! Anyway that's nice! Bet you're a proud uncle then! :)

David Hayward 05-10-2012 04:38 PM

She looks 12 in person. The smile in the IMDB photo does not exist in real life.

She walked into an open audition with ZERO acting experience and got an invite to NYC to meet Wes Anderson. She walked out of that meeting 45 minutes later with the lead role. Yes, I'm a little proud of her.

That's pretty cool.

I love all Wes Anderson films, been looking forward to this one.

Le Maschou. Amazing, initimate, informal, stunning cooked meats in open fire ovens. Unforgettable. Very very cool in narrow street in old part of town. I ate there several times in the mid 90s and am pleased to hear it is still going strong.

This review says it all ...

"... it is unlike any Cannes restaurant. Toasted rustic bread, then palma ham and melon, as much as you want. Then a gigantic basket of crudites. The main course is a choice of a whole chicken, beautiful lamb, or beef. The beef is cooked on the bone over an open fire in the restaurant, then carved...absolutely fabulous. A number of choices for dessert but they all come in huge portions. Go with a big appitite to this exclusive restaurant. The service is always good and the experience gives you a great meal and a great night out in Cannes."

David Hayward 05-25-2012 06:29 PM

The Rotten Tomatoes rating is currently 95%. Not bad for a kid who has never acted before.
