Bf-110 and bf-109 Engine Sounds? WTH!??
 

What happened to the great Bf-109 and bf-110 engine sounds? It was perfect last patch. Now they are anoying droning to be blunt. Outside engine sounds dopplar effect is not realistic anymore. It sounds like a dronning sounds of a Ju88 or Jumo211 engine not a DB601. Please, please switch the engine sounds of the Bf109 bf110 back to the old patch. These little details make or break the game for me at least. Again, you had the DB601 dopplar sounds spot on last patch. I ask for others to vote to return last DB601 dopplar outside engines sounds back to last patch.

109 sounds fine to me. Flew a 90-minute sortie not too long ago and it was fine.

outside view>? Did you hear the dopplar effect sound? Its no good. Inside sounds are fine..

Oh. No, I don't play on servers with external views so I haven't heard the outside sounds yet.

I used to be able to manage the prop on the 109 by sound alone. With the beta patch there is hardly any difference in audio between 2400-2700 RPM where as before it used to scream when the engine was over-revved.

When a 109 is close to be I really don't like the new sound as well as the old one. Also the Ju-88 sounds like an old VW bug or something along these lines. Just not sure what it is yet but something just don't sound right. And I can't even hear the gear coming up any more in the Ju-88.

I concur, they all sound horrid now. The "new" sounds are a complete step backwards because of drop in quality. The Browning's now make me cringe as the sample attenuation is so low quality, they sound like they are inside a tube.

Is there a way one can swap old more REALISTIC Bf110 and Bf109 outside view sounds (Dopplar) into new patch?? Please need ideas, I might just throw in towlw for good if they give me that crap sound. It may seem silly but it makes or breaks the game for me.

Flybys are terrible now!!! :(((

I dont know the reason of this change, but some sounds usually are very hungry in PC resources. Exactly for that sometimes you read to test some games also without sound.

What i found annoying soundwise earlier was how most times i couldn't hear bullet hitting my plane.

One can imagine beeing hit by that german cannon would make a pretty loud bang :grin:

Only rearly i heard some MG-bullets hitting me, but those weren't even close to how nice used to sound in 46 game.

Not tested yet if any improvements with patch for that

I think theres a soundbug when the Ju-88 is running idle, you can't hear the engines at all.

PS Don't like the new sounds on BF109 and BF110 as well, sound like bombers now.

I think they added the new retard dronning sound to the last patch sound for flybys. Thus if my ears serves me correctly if they take that added dopplar/dronning/motorbike sound away will have ther last patch outside view flyby sound again. All will be happy again. :confused:

They had it PERFECT last patch, If not broke DONT fix it.

Try changing the in game sound to 100%, someone had the same problem in a blenhiem.. you can turn the sound down again after.

No someone tinkered with the sounds for this alpha and whoever did it should be tarred and feathered - period. The sound of the 109 prior to the patch was great. Just needed a little tweaking. But the RAF fighter planes need a redo. They sound like diesels.

My 4 year old daughter hit the nail on the head when she saw me playing and said "daddy that plane sounds like a clown car",and at that point I heard a honker horn in my head and I had to turn the game off.
When the ROF sound guy came in we got good sounds, now its been given back they are being undone. Makes sense.

Apart from some parts of the new 109 sounds I really like the new ones, esp. BR20 and G50 sounds.
And the whole bunch of Merlin engines in Hurricane and Spitfire didnt experience that much sound change I guess.

Besides did anyone hear the new ambient sounds? Like bomb whistle, atmospheric ambient...
I would really like to hear some birds tweeting, working sounds around the airfield, waves crushing, seagulls... :)

the effect is called after Christian Doppler
so its the doppler effect or doppler shift.

I vote "YES" for return of old outside flyby DB601 engine sound on planes Bf-109 AND Bf110.

I belive with the new sounds, they are on the right track. There are new humming sounds in the 110 and Ju87 I like a lot. But I dont belive we have I do not think we've heard the final sound yet. So before I will come with a WTH thread and criticizing sounds, I want to hear the finished result.
But for developers. Continue working in that direction you have begun. I belive you are on right track. And I do not have Oleg loudspeakers ;)

Its known now you know nothing of the true DB601 engine sound. B4 you post you should at least know how the DB601 sounds like. It sound like a Ducati motorcycle now... :( This video gives you a good idea of what it should sound like ... 2:26 is a good flyby of the 109 and should sound more like this.

You're right bf110pilot, why they ruined almost perfect outside sounds of db601 is mystery to me.

it could be an unfortunate issue from the alpha patch, before you burn them at the stake you might just report it and see what they say, unfortunately the way this thread was started/worded may end up being like the wife nagging me about taking out the garbage... tuned out :)

Perhaps a thread posting sound bugs and issues would be a good resource for the devs....

hm yes I agree that the sounds of the fighters are lacking a bit the aggressive sound. The engines should sound a lot "dirtier" :D

Hey I'm sorry if I offended you. It has never been my intention. The sound of the video is close to my sound in Clod. That was the reson I wrote as I did. The whistling sound is not in the game after all. But my ears have no errors :-)

If the majority hear it differently, I wish of course wish, they're doing it differently and correct the erros. Then I can try tweak the sound in my end so it sure sounds correct again if possible.
