Try copying bits of the text into the Google Translator box. You can get it translated that way.

Daystar 04-23-2008 03:43 AM

Agreed! And congratulations on the score!

Seriously, this game could be really big! If, you know, a majority of gamers did't buy things without excessive gore and sexism...

Ah well, it's gonna be fun!

Shega 04-23-2008 11:43 AM

Guys, I hope we will provide you with the proper translation within several hours :)

Here is the squeeze of the article, translated into english. Enjoy, guys!

We’ve been looking for King’s Bounty: The Legend, trusted in this project and its developers, marked the release date with red on the calendar. We didn’t doubt a second that the game will be successful. And it was caused not only by the great concept of the game, but also by personal characteristics of the developers, who managed not just to prove their competence, but also to show their earnest attitude to the game coupled with the astonishing creativity. And the second fact is that the developers are the authors of the critically-acclaimed Space Rangers series.

You immerse in the atmosphere of the game in the first seconds of playing. The point is that you feel like you get in a fairy tale. And there is a lot to see.
Everything in the game shows the main characteristic of the developers, it’s the attention to all the details. Beginning from the locations design to quests and any little shading.

The developers have a good sense of humor, just look at the quests. Most of them are really amazing.

The story develops step by step. Locations change to let you be tuned, they don’t reveal all the secrets of the game. Sometimes you should come back and search the location again, you might have missed something. There are some special quests, that aren’t noted in the journal.

The role system is a rare array of simple and efficient schemes, which is deep and simple at the same time. You can choose from three types of character: knight, paladin and mage. The set is classic, but not ordinary. Each type represents its own style of playing. But you knight certainly can learn some spells, for example. Each type has a couple of unique skills and characteristics, like higher leadership, speaking about the knight. You are actually free. If you pay more attention to side quests and monsters, you will gain enough runes to develop most skills in all three skill branches.
Tactical battles in King’s Bounty: The Legend do not have an original mechanism, but it’s adjusted in every little detail. Also our hero can get the very interesting artifact Rage Chest. Four self-will spirits live inside of it. They are powerful creatures from other worlds. Each of them is unique and possess its own battle characteristics (each of them has 4 upgradable skills) and a bright character. And they won’t obey you so easily: you need to prove your competence and to complete a task for each of them. And than they will become a great power in your battles and a good company.

Magic is also very significant in the battles. There are three types of spells: Order, Distortion and Chaos. And each of them three upgradable levels.

You don’t need to fight every time when it’s possible. Sometimes it’s much easier just to deceive a monster, to wait when it passes by or to pass it yourself. Most of them move slower than your hero, so you can cheat them and take the treasure they guard.

The game looks great. The charm of the game is created by such little details as animated squirrels, jumping from tree to tree, murmurous brooks, animated mill-wheel and hundreds of other little features. And the same effect is achieved by the consistent style of a fairy tale, that was used by the developers when they designed the creatures.

The special effects are also really astonishing. They are not pompous but reasonable and appropriate. Nevertheless, sometimes they are really beautiful.

Nowadays almost nobody pays so much attention to a very important feature, the interface. And as a result we get these freaky games, which are almost unplayable. But in King’s Bounty: The Legend the situation is different. It’s even hard to imagine how hard the developers worked to create this necessary element. Some dev teams even don’t have such a specialist, an interface designer.

And in this list of excellent features you can see the sound track of the game, created by the TriHorn Productions studio. You will be pleased to listen to it even outside the game. It’s the detail, that creates the full picture and gives the great result – the unique unexpressable atmosphere.

King’s Bounty: The Legend is a unique game. It’s unique by its content, atmosphere and the developers’ attitude to it. Actually, Katauri created its own game philosophy by this project. And this is a feature of and an extra qualified team.

King’s Bounty is a new hard drug, that is many times cooler than all the drugs, created by the human kind. The addiction is guaranteed. So is the unforgettable pleasure. And finally, it’s very rare nowadays to play such sincere game… so, make hay.

thank you Evgeny lots better than any other translators I've used :)

Kolorabi 04-23-2008 08:02 PM

I can't wait for this to be released in the west!

Renevent 04-23-2008 08:10 PM

Just so I know, what is CRPG? Is it a major publication in Russia? Are they trust worthy, or do they tend to hand out huge scores to tons of games?

Daystar 04-24-2008 12:49 AM

I. Want. This. Game.

Yes, it's a major Russian website, and it's really trustworthy.

Sol Invictus 04-24-2008 05:50 PM

Well this is encouraging. Really looking forward to release.

CRPG.ru might not be that impressive in numbers, but it specializes in RPG games and is one or the main online resources in Russia dedicated to role-playing games.

More reviews are soon to come.

Daystar 04-25-2008 10:59 AM

Any in english?

Not yet. The game hasn't been released in English, so all of them are in Russian. But our team will try to at least bring you summaries of these articles.

Latest PC Games Russia edition is with KB on the front cover and 9.5/10. Congratulations to Katauri! You did a great job guys!

CRPG - good site, exists a long ago. 9.5 unreal highly! Only graphic - 9.5 real.

Shega 05-01-2008 06:24 PM

That is not the first 9.5 rating for King's Bounty, you know. And it seems to be quite deserved :)

Imperial Dane 05-01-2008 07:15 PM

Well it is good news what ever way you put it.. unless you paid a large sum of money for it...

On another note, there seems to be a preferrence for South parkish Avatars among the 1c dudes.

Shega 05-02-2008 06:29 AM

Elementary, my dear Watson!

Hargrar 05-02-2008 07:51 AM

95 means it`s almost perfect, even games like Planescape and Heroes 3 didn`t get this score from many, and King's Bounty the Legend being a great game still has it`s flaws. It`s very-very addictive, but it`s well, a bit shallow, there`s a nice music(better than the one from homm 5 imo, but worse than in homm 2-4), story which is rather weak and many diologues _all_ of which are supposed to be funny(someone will probably like it i guess), many really are, but still doesn`t help to build some real atmosphere, you can`t give 9.5 for a game with a great gameplay, graphics and map design, but everything else which can be described as nice, pretty good, i liked it etc. Personally I`d give it 84-87, 95 is obviously too much.

Shega 05-02-2008 08:32 AM

Well, Hargrar, we all do have something subjective appraising any specific game, aren't we? : )

Imperial Dane 05-02-2008 01:14 PM

Which is why one should take every review and opinion you see with a thought to it. A game can get a good review and not be good, or get a bad review and not be bad (I think of Tribes of the east here) But the best way tends to be a demo, that way you can get a taste of it yourself and make a competent judgement.

As it is i can't say anything about the music or the dialogues.. but i do like the visuals :) A bit refreshing from all the Dark and gritty stuff that seems to be popular as of late.

mail.ru - 9.5, but users - 8.3
AG - 9.5, but Players - 8.9
Decide, to whom to trust players or authors of reviews!

Cracked by Bill Gilbert
Greatest trouble in «KB» (besides not numerous «bags», straightened by patches) is happiness only on 30-40 hours. In age-old King's Bounty 2 Ïrokof'eva and that HOMM 5 there was the generator of cards, and territory is unchanging here, because hand-made. Yes, at the beginning of party it concernes by casual appearance, that you will meet on the way, but the repeated heat en-route acquainted will not be such enthralling.

Actually it is more than 30-40 hours if you take all side quests, etc. Moreover can you name a modern game that boasts at least 30-40 hours of gameplay. I can hardly imagine one, not taking into consideration (add-ons, expansions, mods, map generators, etc.). Talking only about single player.

AG rated the game 93%, players rated 89%.
If you check the statistics, u can see that 19 players voted 1% for the game. I think this 19 people are liars! If you don't count their votes, total it gives 91%, it's quite close to AG's original score, and it's above 90%. I trust in this. BTW 30-40 hours is quite a good gameplay value, plus the map is not randomly created but made by a desinger (team).

Everybody draws conclusions, I simply made examples. Certainly a minimum and maximum would need to be deleted. Unreal 10, absurdly 1.
My rating about 8-8.5. 9.5 - only design...
30-40 hours it is needed on the complete passing of game. Someone will play anew, someone it is not...
AG is very good site and review objective enough!
