A few visual ideas
For when the time is right...
Flocks of birds Leaves as well as dust blowing away from propellor Static men (?!) pacing round the hangars Record player for airfield, or more sirens (more atmousphere around base) Any more ideas? And I do stress when there is time to add these things in the long run. |
Rogue barage balloons trailing 1000 feet steel cables, reeking havock across the country side?????

More sounds!!!
Ambient nature and other sounds like wind or traffic, distant sounds of maybe mechanics working in a nearby hangar etc and some more lively objects to place around the airfield. Maybe some civilian vehicles would be nice too - not every officer can afford a Skoda Armoured car. :) |
about birds

* Birds are in the FMB but do not appear in the MP environment. ? May have been turned off to improve fps.
* More sirens? We already have 2 sirens (red & blue) in-game but neither have sound :( * Ambient sounds - Yes indeed :) We need a range of background sounds that work in both single & MP play. |

i tried to make a video with this mission, but somehow, on the recorded vid, the birds were suddenly disappeared. anyway, is it possible to collide with such birds???that would be interesting then. |
I have used sea gulls, sheep and cows in a multiplayer map.Others that have joined have seen them also. However although they show in hosted game they do not show in a dedicated server game.
Unfortunately they are like the trees and runway signs. You can fly/drive right through them. In the old 1946 parts flying off a plane in front of you would cause damage if they hit you.I am not sure about Clod.Parts fly off but I have not been hit with them yet. |
@ Tavington: These suggestions should be posted in the Questions and Request thread! Otherwise its most likely that these infos don't get to the Devs!
http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthr...=28341&page=19 I especially like the idea of more ambient sound, working sounds at near a hangar, wind, traffic, birds etc Like in RoF where the church bells over a town really pushes the immersion :) |
Ambient sounds existed in original IL-2 but there was never a way (that I found) to implement them.
|
another idea: propwash that influences grass!
That would be a WOW-Effect... |
- Occational distant flashes and rumble on the horizon of artillery barrages at the direction of front lines.
- Moving fishing boats on the sea. - Barking and wandering dogs around airfields. |

All fun aside, I like the ideas on added atmosphere:)
|
I love the idea of fishing boats loose in the chanel, there should be more stuff lying around even for free flight.. anyone remember operation flashpoint? (the first one) mission editor on that was fantastic, I wish CLOD's was that flexible and easy.

Has anyone asked for smoke being effected by wind? Not only will it add to the attmosphere ( imagine landing your plane with thick black smoke from a buring hurricane drifting accross the runway ) but it would be useful for judging wind speed direction for those on bombing runs.
It'd be a big hit on frame rates I know, but in eight months time we'll have double the processing power available compaired to when the sims was release. (If you met Mr Moore in a pub you'ld have to buy him a beer, wouldn't you? ;) ) |
Smoke is effected by wind.
Turn it up enough and your smoke is blowing damn near sideways :) |

I had an excellent idea today as I was taking calls from angry broadband customers.. How about combine harvesters and hay bales in the feilds? Imagine the look of shock on ther downed german pilot's face as an angry farmer charges at him with his machine threshing away frantically
|
Hmm. Don't think that would happen. Combined Harvesters weren't invented until early 50s. I suppose they could toss him into a threshing machine with a pitch fork!
