after deleting conf.ini files-different flight behaviour?
hey guys!
because my ch-map doesnt seem to work correctly(i still have my fighterstick listed as joystick, and my pro pedals as joystick1 recognized), i decided today to delete both my conf.ini files in the 1c softclub folder and the steam one.well this didnt work, and i still have this problem, but... after i let steam download the new ones, and i started the game, i recognized, that my bf, suddenly felt way more stable.i could made tighter turns, and also avoid stalls much easier. even if i already was in the beginning of a stall, where one wing tilts downwards, i could with ease recover, while remaining in a tight turn. the whole flight model felt somehow different.as if the 109 had more lift in every attitude.also gunnery seemed to be way more acurate. the strange thing is, that i didnt touch my ini files at all after a complete new install.so the files are identical. and even more strange is, that after a few restarts of the game or the computer, the "superiour" behaviour is suddenly gone again. i had the same strange change of behaviour, when i copied and pasted the conf.ini joystick settings of my il2 1946 into the clod conf.ini. a while back. during the first few gaming sessions i recognized the same difference, where the steering of the plane was way more smooth.tighter turns were possible, stalling seemed to occur at lower speeds, gunnery was easier to master... but again,...after a few restarts either of the game,or steam, or the computer(still dont know which one affects that), everything went back to normal "inferiour" controls. i remember a thread, which was posted soon after the release of the game, where someone claimed, that putting the il2 1946 conf.ini joystick settings into the clod conf.ini one, made a difference for him as well.some confirmed the change in behaviour, others claimed to not notice a difference. i tried that as well back then, and noticed a difference, but only for a couple of gaming sessions.i will look for that thread and link it here if i find it. http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=21695 i know this really sounds strange, and maybe its a placebo effect....though im pretty confident that its not.it definitely feels different, at least for me. has anybody encountered something similar? has anybody knowledge what possibly could cause that difference? |
Maybe it was the difficulty settings?
I think they might be stored on the steam cloud, so maybe after you deleted the config.ini they were deleted, but some time afterwards when Steam synced with the cloud it put the settings back as you had them. That would explain why it got easier but then got harder after a few restarts of Steam. |
but i have the difficulty settings always on full real....besides i changed them before the first flight from default to realistic.
oh and i have steam cloud disabeled |
Obviously not that then, in which case I have no idea :D
|
Try and reset the config.ini's again to where you like them but ......set the file to READ ONLY!
Seems it somehow gets overridden whenever you close the sim or steam. |
Just the joysticks.
As part of the confuser.ini file you have the input values for your joysticks.
What is call the "axis input curve". You most probably just went back to the default values. So there is no FM change, just your joystick axes interact diferently with the control surfaces of the plane. Salutes. |
Noticed the same after i reinstalled Clod.
After checking both configs i noticed that the old one had my last trims inside, awhile the new one was a virgin. |
Now, if you tell me that the Spit flies like having more octanes in the tank, I will format my C:\ drive...

Turn off Steam cloud/exit steam/delete the file...then start the game/then enable cloud (with/while) the game is still running, if you wish. |

One thing I did was disable the STEAM cloud.. Because it was hard to tell which files the game was using (local or remote cloud) A little off topic, this post of yours does provide more proof of what I have been saying from day one.. The PC (hardware and software and config) can greatly affect how CoD acts.. Put another way.. Alot of the so called problems associated with CoD may in fact have nothing to do with CoD and everything to do with the current state of the PC.. Be it a config file or video drive or what ever. |

In my opinion you are totally right on that. I wonder how much of a bad rap/revenue loss 1c got, due to that factor alone. How many of us maintain our system's, run disk clean up, defragment on a weekly basis, up-date drivers etc. This game is insanely good and trouble free for me, in an off-line environment that is. The only complaint I could give, is that AI's flying abilities in heavy bombers is something to admire. I think that their marksmanship skill is well done though! and thanks to the team for that. |
thx for all the answers gents....
i have steam cloud disabeled since last april i think, cause i had some problems with control settings when it was enabled. well i agree with ace, that its propably something with my pc config which is causing the problems, but i had set up my whole pc with a new windows installation just a month ago, and directly after that, i installed clod, to avoid such things. i tried to set my conf.ini files to read-only, but if i do that, my game will crash every time, when i want to exit it.it will run normally though. pretty clueless whats the reason for this problem. |

1.You need to follow my advice in my first post above, it involves turning off cloud, and very important delete that file. Better yet, delete your soft club folder. 2.I don't think so in this/your case 3.Don't do that again 4.You need to slow down, re-read the "how to post's" in both of your threads. You were thinking there was something wrong, but there was'nt, then correcting, then it gets mucked up from that/your action. Take a look at how the game sees my controller's. Read my post in your other thread about pecking order(joystick1 or joystick2 or joystick are all normal...do not concern your self with their title, they will still work...in your case the game will see joystick & joystick1 because you have two controllers) and their numbers are assigned by which one you choose first when making a map in CH and their numbers/title are unimportant). Once you get going again, and after you get all of your controls set just the way you like them. Press the "save as" button in the game control section, then choose new folder, name it what ever you want...keep in mind that anytime you make a change to your controls after that, you need to press "save as" and then select that folder that you made previously...I have fighterstick/pro throttle/rudder pedals and so joystick, joystick1, joystick2...three controller's http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...l/Capture6.jpg http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...l/Capture7.jpg |
I should add that once you have everything right, turn on the cloud. If you don't, you will need to select that folder you made/and press load...each time you start the game...good luck:grin: EDIT: If nothing works properly, you may have to reinstall steam and the game...Steam! it is buggy at times, I think the cloud corrupts the files:shock::shock:look here https://support.steampowered.com/kb_...8296-VSOM-8056

flight model felt somehow different.as if the 109 had more lift in every attitude. If you are still having this problem you should try a calibration...Open up the Ch control manager/open your map and click the direct mode on the tool bar/then click calibrate/make sure your wheels are centered on the base of your Fighterstick/then do your calibrating/return to mapped mode/press download/save and exit.:) |
Right click on the config.ini file and tick the window on the bottom left that says "read only".
That's it. Oh, and if you make any later changes in your settings such as resolution, you will have to make the file "read" so it can write those changes. That's why it is important to have your settings where you want them before making it "read only". S! |
thx slip ball for your detailed answers!
though im sure that its not a calibration problem of the fighterstick.however i set the conf.ini files and the conf.user files of both folders(1c and steam) to read only and this has made the trick so far.but lets see... the only problem with it, is that every time i quit the game, it crashes.but thats not really a problem. |

Yea, if you already calibrated with the turn wheels centered, then its not gonna be it. |

All hardly.. That is an unrealistic expectation imho.. Granted I realize that taking personal responsibility these days is the exception to the rule.. But imho if you want CoD to run will you well have to learn to take some |
