Graphics are only one tiny part of programming a sim, should he post some pictures of the code which calculates zoom climbs? Or how about plane acceleration, should he post that code? What about Oleg researching the subject of the BOB, should he post pics of hiom in the library?

Maybe he should post some pics of the 3d engine code which takes years to produce with no 'eye candy' to show for it?

Seriously though, Iv'e seen a ton of screenshots, I have read a lot of info posted by Oleg himself, I don't feel left in the dark what so ever. Sure I would love to have more updates more regular (as far as I know it's been about 6 weeks since Oleg posted) but I also feel it is still a long way away so maybe there just isn't that much to show in regards to visuals.
The bulk of the work would no doubt not be very interesting to look at which is why there is such a lack of continuous updates.

I just don't feel the urgency to own this game RIGHT NOW (you do realise the current IL2 series is awesome right?), when SOW is ready I'll buy it, when it is close to release we will know about it, I'm sure there will be a website etc. or at least a dedicated forum, we have neither of these right now so I highly doubt we are even close to BETA let alone a release date.

OK....now that we have most of the fanny smoochers giving their standard drooling responses, and the carnival clowns have honked their horns, I'd still like some answers. It's not that I'm impatient, it's the lack of response to this forum from anyone with authoritative answers that I find totally offensive.

If 4.09 isn't dead, then when do you THINK it might be available?

Personally I think the younger generation has gotten so used to the instant gratification offered with web use, they expect instant messages every fifteen minutes on every aspect of life. I would imagine Oleg has better things to do besides making sure everyone has instant information on the latest pixel drawn. In any business or concept, many things are changed and redone before the final version is offered to the public for sale. I assume this would be no different.

I shudder to think what would be yelped if information was rushed to the masses to appease the few, only to have it completely change directions before its final stage. I will say I personally am clueless about what all is involved in the programming of such a huge undertaking, but Im pretty sure its cutting edge and is a little complicated, to say the least. I for one do not need scraps thrown out on a weekly basis, especially if what is being thrown is subject to change. I lived a large portion of my life without computers or flight sims for that manner, and probably sure I can weather it until this one comes out. Patience is a virtue...blah,blah,blah. (I always hated it when Mom would say that)

As for the record, I smooch no butt, nor am I clown, but I might smooch a clown if she was hot enough.:cool: Additionally, this was not meant to inflame, but what do you expect when you slam the US President right off the bat? ( OK, that was intended as humor, is it the hidden clown from within?? where's my selzer bottle and rubber chicken when needed...) :roll:

The problem is not in the author of this topic but in all of you that replied with your stupid answers. Why, WHY can't you just ignore the topic, if you are such an outstanding users and praise Oleg and his team that much? Why do you have to post? Don't and the topic will go away. But you have to say something right? Just don't get it why.

And the questions about 409 are valid. We have beta, great. If we got DS beta it would be better, i could not care less if final gets out or not. I have the DS, that' it. But this release date for 409 is going on for just about too much. Give us beta build for DS and i bet most of people will stop complaining about that. As it is, the "game" is incomplete. Can you get that? Doubt it.

And regarding BoB, i agree that developers don't owe us anything but why can't we post questions regarding that topic? The sharade about tis title is going on all too long and again, don't you remember that Oleg was playing some pre-alpha build back in 06? Before the release of 46... and the lack of any info whatsoever is, well, disturbing. Why can't you just accept that some people need constant updates? And why is that a bad thing? It was said that we'll get regular updates but current situation is all but regular.

Bottom line: if you are all that more mature than the rest of te users of this forum, why do you have the urge to post that kind of answers that you do?? Leave the topic alone and if it is agains ANY KING or rules, forum moderators will delete it. If it were up to me i'd disable you r ability to post anything for few days. But that's just me.

I've been waiting for BoB since the first announcement and screenies in '04. Many of us have been anxiously waiting. Heck, even I posted about lack of updates, but there's a right way and then there's your way. Surely you can see why you've gotten the response you have Lazurus, can't you?

That is exactly the kind of cr@p that Oleg scared away from the UBI forums. I suggest you stop it right now.

If the past 5 years have taught me nothing else it is this.... that not only 4.09 but BoB will be released when it is released... and when it is released whatever we can pull from it.. even with a state of the art rig... will only scratch the surface of what is possible.... think of the top of the line PC from 2005.. the best the absoluet best that money could buy.... run this sim on it.. then get the top of the line rig of 2008.. and you will see an improvement... somewhere... and that on a sim engine that is in reality 10 years old.... un heard of.

I have absolutely no doubt whatsoev er that BoB, 4.09 and whatever else is coming down the pike will be here and in the mean time I am enjoying the h@ll out of 4.09b1m.. I suggest you do they same and relax because your expectations, posts, complaints, queries and all the WTFs in the world will not make the process move any faster.

I'm not really uptight....I am, however, tired of asking questions, being generally ignored by 1C, yet receiving answers form every peanut in the gallery.

It's the frustration in knowing that you've asked a VERY simple question, thinking that you MIGHT just get an answer and then.....in come the smoochers and horn honking clowns to leave their worthless, philosophical blather, and completely hijack a thread.

Every once in a while, you just get fed up with the silence of the important, and the fan fair of the ignorant.

Please remember that this is an international website. You may or may not know that in other parts of the world (specifically Australia) the term 'Fanny' does not relate to a person's behind, but in fact to the female genitalia!

All this smooching talk may be giving some people a big head and bolstering their ego's ;)

Well I agree with Laz. To add - Maddox left IL2 in a mess, riddled with errors from stuffed f/ms to arcade flak and ship damage modelling...there's lots more that needs fixing. As for BoB - I've given up waiting for a date. Got a life to live. Bye bye.

The IL-2 series is the best combat flight sim we have. Could it be better, sure it could, thats why they are building a new engine.

Its easy to sit back and nit pick IL-2, but the only sim on the horizon that could be much better is the BOB series.

I suppose we will be waiting along time for all the nit pickers to design a better combat sim.

Edit: not worth it.

You guys come to these forums crying and moaning like some jilted little schoolgirl as if you were owed something. 1C owes you NOTHING unless of course your 46 DVD did not work.. So you heard nothing about BoB.. so what.. it means nothing. The fact that this forum even exists says something in itself. As for IL2... LOL... yeah IL2 is left a mess.... umm hmmm.. the sim that started out with 31 flyables and 40 AI planes on the Eastern Front and now can boast 41 flyable Allied types, 31 flyable Axis types.. and mind you... I am just talking about the types of planes.. not the different variants of each flyable aircraft.. that sends the number of flyable aircraft into the hundreds.. a former one front sim that can now simulate aerial warfare across 4 fronts, the Pacific ,The Mediteranean, Europe and of course the Eastern Front. Not perfectly mind you .... but adequate... under FMs that, while again.. not perfect.. are the best that I have seen in any WWII sim... and up until the recent hack situation FMs that were, even if not totally accurate across every aircraft (and that is depateable.. since the sim offers such a wide lattitude to adjust you controllers to suit the aircraft) were the only unhacked FMs around.. for a long time.

Add to all that the new maps & objects that we got in 4.09b1m... and not to be left out the unprecedented developer support THAT WE GOT ALL ALONG.... even if we do not hear much from Oleg now....

and I say IL2 is hardly a mess....
I fail to understand why so many folks have their drawers in a knot because they dont get weekly updates on BoB.. or no word on 4.09F. Suck it up and enjoy what you have for crying out loud. If it werent for 1C believe me... we'd all be flying MS now or LOMAC or something else... or not simming. If MS couldn't rise to the occasion with IL2 staring them in the face then I doubt they would have been more motivated with nothing competing against them. You people who think that 1C owes you something need to grow up or find another pastime. This sim is what it is... like it or not... either way, I for one am sick of hearing the bleating noise of ungrateful spoiled rotten consumers who have neither the skill, fortitude or the knowledge to make something even close by a light year to 46... much less BoB, and not say something that can be summed up in STFU and wait like the rest of us.

Well... Bearcat says what has been said and I'm with him.

I started MS CFS 1 & EAW, then left and plays another games (FPS, RPG etc.)
Then bought CFS 3 and spent time with it.

Then bought IL-2 and that's way I am. Now have IL-2, IL-2:FB, AEP, PF & IL-2 Sturmovik 1946. When said that hunger grows when eat - that's right.

I don't have count how much money has gone with this sim - new rig and components, joysticks and other stuff, TrackIR, books and DVD:s.

And I'm waiting too BoB:Sow but don't whine :cool:

Everyone has the right to express their opinion without being attacked and called names. IL2 is tired and error ridden and is now open to hacked f/ms. Bring on SoW, the sooner the better.

I don't think we are owed anything, but it's simply good business practice to keep your customers in the loop. It's one thing to work on a new project, then present it finished as fait accompli, but once you've announced it and shown pictures/vids to keep the faithful interested, it only makes sense to continue with the odd report on progress. Doesn't need to be great detail, though some will crow for that. Just a "We've reached our February milestone, release still looking like Q4." That sort of thing.

A little bit goes a long way.

I thought I was pretty thorough on why IL2 wasn't left a mess by Maddox.. as you said .. and frankly yes you are entitled to your opinions .. but I can't understand even on other boards why people come and vent what just is not the case... a mess? IL2 is a mess. IL2 is trying to do what it was never designed to do. It was obsolete long ago. SoW engine is long overdue to replace the IL2 engine. You have your opinion and I have mine, live with that - you have no other choice.

What I do not understand with these sorts of opinions: If somebody doesn't like that game at all, why don't they just leave it? Nobody forces people to play IL2!
And posting comments on some peoples frustration with the game surely doesn't help anybody and it even less will speed up the process of finishing a sequel.

Don't get me wrong, I'm really, really glad most of us live in a democracy, which gives everybody the right to have his own opinion, but I am also glad that in democracy this right ends, when it does offend and deminish the rights of other people.
So, while having an opinion and stating it is perfectly democratic, writing it on your banner, marching through a bunch of dedicated fans and flaming them for it, is not.

Some people should bear that little difference in mind, when stating complains about democracy and rights for free will.

What I find so interesting with these discussions is that they show that it really does not matter what a person says.....but it is down to the recipient deciding whether he has taken offence or not, which is very much like emotional blackmail. So our free society is destroyed by those that take offence where there really is none. You are free to offend and free to take offence. Those that choose to be offended should realise that it is their right to be offended....but that is as far as it goes.....they have no right to gag someone else on the basis of that!
