Happy New Year from 1C:Maddox Games!

4 Attachment(s)
Dear friends!

All of us here at Maddox Games want to wish you a happy holiday season and lots of fun and excitement in the new year!

We know that 2011 was not the best year in simulation history. While we did manage to finally ship our new flight sim that’s taken so many years of our lives to build, all of us know that things could have gone better. Rest assured that we continue to pour our hearts and souls into the series, and we are continuing to work very hard to make the game better and to earn your trust and respect.

We are very sad that despite all of our efforts we were unable to complete a new patch in time for the holidays. It wasn’t for the lack of trying. It’s just we are actually working to make things right instead of rushing them out to meet an arbitrary deadline. You’ll have the patch when it’s good and ready and does everything we want it to do. We’ll go right back to it in January, and hope to give you a new beta very soon.

Thank you all for your patience and support!

The good news is, we have complete support of our management behind us and we already have plans for the series for years to come (Mayas be damned). The plans include both improving Cliffs of Dover and more than one upcoming sequel. More details will be announced in due course.

And to end this on a high note, we’d like to show you a few screenshots of the airplane that started it all, now on a completely different technological level which is being created for a sequel.

Once again, Happy New Year from all of us!

luthier 12-30-2011 06:26 AM

Happy New Year everyone!

I’d just like to clarify a couple of things, just in case:

1. We are continuing to work on ALL previously announced features: graphics, FM, AI, radio comms, launcher errors, etc. This has always been a constant, never changed, not expected to change.

2. We assume that the most common reaction to the screenshots will be “why the heck do we need that, why didn’t you work on XYZ instead”. We almost decided to skip the screenshots altogether, but then decided that we’ll get the same reaction if we post nothing as well. So we decided to post these anyway – and we’ve got our asbestos suits on.

Thanks Dev Team. Keep up the Great work and look forward to seeing your Magic in the New Year.

jimbop 12-30-2011 06:49 AM

I hope the forum has got past that reaction! I'm certainly looking forward to Moscow, especially as continued support for Cliffs is assured. Have a good break and thanks for the pics - can't wait to fly it...

Hunden 12-30-2011 07:06 AM

Thank you for this message. I am very glad to see that the team is working (and will work) to improve COD.

I (and probably most of the fans) am looking forward the release of the next patch.

Happy New Year to Luthier and all his team

Congratulations for all the work made this year

This is not the land in the game. This texture of the viewer.

a Happy New Year for your Team too :)

Mr Greezy 12-30-2011 07:16 AM

Sounds GREAT! Keep up the good work!

I think you're mistaken there, Luthier. A lot of us are reassured by a complete-looking screenshot of a Sturmovik.

Makes me feel like work is progressing.

Honestly, I think if you just put out some screenshots every friday, a lot of the **** that goes on on these forums would die down quickly. All we want are some tidbits of information to show us that work is ongoing. But sometimes getting information out of Maddox Games is like pulling teeth.

Chivas 12-30-2011 07:25 AM

Happy New Year Luthier and Team

The entertainment value of the last ten years with the original IL-2 series has been awesome and really hope your even more successful in the next ten years.

klem 12-30-2011 07:37 AM

Thank you Luthier and BlackSix. Happy New year to you too.

The message is positive, just what we wanted.
Keep the asbestos suits handy. The flame throwers will never go away but many of us are standing by with the fire hoses.

Like the screenshots btw.

FG28_Kodiak 12-30-2011 07:39 AM

Happy New Year!
Einen guten Rutsch ins neue Jahr!

Hope i will see more of my favorite plane in the near future.

41Sqn_Banks 12-30-2011 07:42 AM

Happy new year and many thanks for the update. It's a good idea to finish the patch properly before it is released. And thank you for the screenshots.

ivo 12-30-2011 07:53 AM

Happy New Year to everybody thank Luthier and Black Six.
For COD the best game !!!!!!!!!
Great work bye Ivo.:grin::grin::grin::grin::grin::grin:

Masi67 12-30-2011 08:12 AM

Happy new year!
Personally, I am waiting for BoM and eastern front. That's what got me into series back in 2001. Hopefully Finland is included at some point :)

Thank u B6, Luthier and team, and have a happy new year.

Will be very cool to see the Sturmovik, Yak, Lagg, FW etc in the same level of detail as the BoB planes (how ever long it will take)

Robert 12-30-2011 08:24 AM

Great to hear that management is behind the team and the future is secure for some time.

Enjoy your holidays, and thanks for the efforts so far.

Tree_UK 12-30-2011 08:25 AM

heidelbergensis 12-30-2011 08:39 AM

Happy holidays to all the team! enjoy this incoming week; don´t think on the job; and we meet again in the next year!

I find it a shame that you guys need to talk like this because of the melodrama of a minority. Happy New Year to you and your team, have a nice break (or whatever you do in Russia) and I look forward to what is to come - it's great to hear that you have management support for the series, you certainly have my support and patience on the pretence that the team will produce the best, most accurate and immersive CFS in the World. :D

Thanks B6, Luthier and the rest of MG, hope you have a good Christmas and a happy new year.

Keep up the good work.

P.S. Please PLEASE at some point in 2012 I want to see a screenshot of a Fw190 :D

el0375 12-30-2011 10:09 AM

Happy new year to all of you!

Thanks for typing such words.

It is nice to know that you keep going on, and most importantly that you have support from management too.It adds in my opinion further optimism. Whenever i can i will support you because for the level of work you have done in all these years ( since Il-2 :) ) was enough for me to get me into this genre and helped me cultivate my interests in planes of that era ( for now not able to fly in real life), so in my opinion you deserve my contribution. Offcourse time passes, everything changes we may pass nice times or we may pass new problems and difficulties but the best is to get over such difficulties in the best possible way.
I could say such period was seen in the life of Cliffs of Dover but knowing work is being done its always good to know and means that things will improve and continue.

Anyways, happy new year to all here, and best wishes!

HR_Grainovich 12-30-2011 10:10 AM

Great news!!

Thanks for your work!! please! keep working in this fantastic simulator!! I'm sure in a short period of time will be the best!!! , we can´t wait to return to East Front!! this IL2 looks great!! :-P

+1 - depressing that they have to be scared to post news here...

Amazing that we have four pages of posts and not a whining post yet! Lets see how many pages we can stay positive? Think about a 40 page thread with only positive posts! Come on it's Christmas time, wonders can happen :)

Happy new year to the team and everyone else here!

EDIT: And I really have a soft spot for those single seater IL2's... Can't wait...

Bewolf 12-30-2011 10:46 AM

Hehehehehe, seeing that Il2 brings out the best of memories.

Thanks for the update and a happy new year to you guys!

pupo162 12-30-2011 10:49 AM

Happy new year...

lets hope for a new kick on il2 series for next year.

cant wait to shoot down sturmovicks

Red Dragon-DK 12-30-2011 11:14 AM

Happy New Year to the hole development Team.

Despite a turbulent year and many negative comments, we are still many who believe in the project. Better communication with the forum, might keep up the spirits, for those who still doubt, with more information about plans and time frames. Just a thought ;)

Really looking forward to the forthcoming titles and theaters and fixes for existing COD. Awsome pic´s. Thanks for sharing.

All my best wishes for the new year to everyone.

Pato Salvaje 12-30-2011 11:18 AM

My resolution for 2012 ? I will only post positive comments...
And a special thanks to the moderators for their ...good humor;)
My first positive post :
One good side of COD being late is that CPU and GPU technologies are scaling up very strong and fast while the prices go down...By the time COD and its sequel come out, we will have fast and furious machines for a good price...

Happy New Year !

smink1701 12-30-2011 01:26 PM

Happy New Year. Hopefully 2012 will be a great year for flight sims, significantly improved CloD, new sequel, and MS Flight should be released. Can't wait to get this year behind us.:-P

To all at 1CMaddox Games, thank you and you all have a very blessed and happy New Year!!!

Thank you for the screen shots of the very first plane that started it all, that's the plane that got me interested in flying IL2; in 2004, loving it ever since!

We may whine but it's only because we love the sim.

After all, it's where it all started for me (we'll ignore CFS).

Sometimes you have to put the hip-waders on :)

Many thanks for the updates and the early look at the IL-2. Cliffs of Dover is a start and a foundation and while it's no secret that it has some issues... so did IL-2 when it first came out. Aside from bug fixes...this series needs content and this is a great step. I look forward to returning to the Eastern Front! Happy New Years and keep it up in the new year!

lol at second point...

i think anyone who asks why build that IL2...i think would be a pretty dumb question since its for the next expansion....thats like people saying "why do you need the 109e4", when you are producing a BOB game

Hi Luthier,
On the contrary. As a long time IL2 simmer - since the first day of the first release - I really appreciate all that is being done. I believe that I understand the business model you have and financial and other considerations.

I and others continue to fly on the ATAG server on a regular basis and are always amazed at the positive points we come across. The ones not working quite as hoped are circumvented in the knowledge that in time those things will be improved.

I really love flying the Sturmovik and look forward to the upcoming series as they fall into place. For now, Cliffs of Dover is a pleasure to fly.

Best of the Season and New Year to you and your Team!!
Catseye

Hmmm...so let the works start:

:D

And since we are almost exclusively grown-ups (despite the things we write and the way we behave very often in this forum) here are some handy and practical New Year's Wishes:

May you get a clean bill of health from your dentist, your cardiologist, your gastro-enterologist, your urologist, your proctologist, your podiatrist, your psychiatrist, your plumber and the I.R.S.

May your hair, your teeth, your face-lift, your abs and your stocks not fall; and may your blood pressure, your triglycerides, your cholesterol, your white blood count and your mortgage interest not rise.

May New Year's Eve find you seated around the table, together with your beloved family and cherished friends. May you find the food better, the environment quieter, the cost much cheaper, and the pleasure more fulfilling than anything else you might ordinarily do that night.

May you remember to say "I love you" at least once a day to your spouse, your child, your parent, your siblings; but not to your secretary, your nurse, your masseuse, your hairdresser or your tennis instructor.

And may we live in a world at peace and with the awareness of God's love in every sunset, every flower's unfolding petals, every baby's smile, every lover's kiss, and every wonderful, astonishing, miraculous beat of our heart.

Taken today on the Smolensk map, game time set at Noon.

Thanks for posting that ElAurens. I can't believe how good the new one looks in comparison.

What could be more welcome than the eastern front, and what there more welcome than the Il-2. I'm really looking forward to the sequel.

Happy New Year 1C:Maddox Games

Happy New Year Black Six and Ilya and Team. I can now 'tick-off' the IL-2 Sturmovik in my' Hypothetical Progression Line Predictions' post. The aircraft looks very good, should be a treat to fly.

Good to see your posts giving us all a refreshing update on how you are progressing into the New Year.

Looking forward to the 2012 IL-2 Sturmovik Flight Sim Year.

Due to the lack of proper lighting and complete lack of dinamic shadows and other fx I think the BoM shot we have here is taken from their visualisation model program, not from the game engine. I´m sure this same model rendered in the actual game with all fx on would look way better.

Of course we want a new IL-2! Happy New Year!!
