Don't be so negative, Krupi. The World of Tanks franchise was a huge success.
If World of Planes/Warplanes delivers the same kind of exposure to the young ppl in regards to the aircraft of this period and awakens some interest that can only help us here. Just yesterday I met a guy on ATAG that came over from Fighter Ace to learn the real deal.

Arcade games like this are the perfect beginners drug before ppl move on to the harder stuff.

The flip side of that is they will be from a generation that have become lazy and apathetic and will just revert to the mental bubblegum of arcade games because the real deal is too much.

Bah, Bongo, complains like these are as old as humanity itself.

Complaint?....more observation, lets put it this way....every invention man ever made was just to make life asier, purist become a dying breed.

they actually say third person view is more realistic "cuz in real lifez playerz can liztenz to otherz playerz flying neraby and in the pc if you dont havez a good headset u cant!"

i have better hoppes for world of planes. after all wings of prey wasnt that bad.

Speak for yourself here, I made quite different observations. But then again, I am not living where you are.

If only 1 percent of potential arcade players get hooked on the subject matter, and in World of Tanks a much larger percentagte did just that, then we are in for a good influx of new players here.

Hey if I said the sky is blue then everybody would have a different oppinion, we can only assume we both live on the same planet, possibly even the western world, where everything gets mass produced by machines and computers and meat comes in plastic packaging, can you believe there are people who need to be educated where a sausage comes from.

That said, I think you understimate the education in large parts of even the western world. And in these days the western world is not the beginning and end of all things anymore anyways.

in Bismarks day that was true, please don't be under the impression I believe the western world is the be all, I thought my post said more or less the opposite.

Underestimation can be less dissapointing than overestimation, but maybe you are right and I shold be less of a cynic.

I LOL at all the negative comments these online war games get here (WoT, WoP etc.). They are not supposed to be super advanced simulations where you need a 200€ HOTAS and a NASA type PC. They are, just like WoT, just quick instant fun. Is that so bad? I for one can appreciate the detailed and "realistic" start-up procedures and engine management in CloD but sometimes it's just not fun and you want some fast fun and that's where these online games come in. They're not even competing with CloD, if that's what you're worried about. It's very obvious that it's the "glass half full brigade" that like to bash these kinds of games, everything for the "mother-game". I agree that World of Warplanes doesn't look super, Gaijin's effort looks much more interesting so far. If you think these games are sims you are either uninformed or deluded.:grin:

These games are perfect entries in to real simming. You think I got my affection for sims through MS Flight Simulator? nope! It was "Top Gun" for the Nintendo 8-bit back in the eighties that gave me the first taste of what was to become a life long interest/addiction.

There's still a massive difference between that arcade FPS in the air and it's fanbase, and this flight simulator. But yes I hope that it will bring a couple of people who are seeking for a challenge ;)

Dissapointment is a part of life, however, and if you always only ever expect the worse it takes away a lot of fun and anticipation. Remember, it is the cynics that make this world such a miserable place in the first place and are the root cause for other ppl to become cynics themselves. It's high time some good old fashioned idealism has a comeback =)

See it this way, these WOP games won't take anybody away from CoD. On the other hand, it will educate potentially millions of teens to the very existance of those aircraft. That is all the basis needed for further interest in the subject matter :)
