And how do you restrict cheating? Is there any way to do that in CoD at this moment (1.05). I dind duels very interesting discipline and I enjoy flying them quite often, but I don't think the sim is quite ready as for the FMs and especially DM just yet. Still great fun and some of these guys are unbelievable good ad keeping their energy. Amazing skills. |

I was just curious about the rules. It's not very typical on duels, but I understand. Fair enough.
Cheating - question was ment in general not regarding this particular championship. I'd like to know if it's possible to turn something like CRT=2 on and restrict mods. I am pretty sure that some pilots would do anything to get tha upper hand in duels, been that way in Il-2 and will be the same in CoD. |

As for the duels - good stuff, Ataros, thanks for posting. *edit* after watching the 1st fight, Mr.X actually flew very well |

In this game until it is possible to use cheats. For it we have it and love:).In Russia there is a lot of really strong pilots, but in BoB until fly single one of them:(. |

Yeah I agree re MrX - he's a good pilot, and most importantly he's a very good shot, and in the E4 he has cannons to use. Last night I was on the tail of a 110 on ATAG, had put several bursts into him and was closing for the kill, I hear the whine of a 109 and just before I could break away, a single burst of cannon fire from MrX destroyed by engine. The cannons are a HUGE advantage to a 109 pilot who is a good shot - if he can make his first pass count, and get good hits on, more times than not he will get the kill on the first pass - MrX is very good at this. It's nearly impossible to do the same in the brit planes - it's tough to handle, but it's histoprically accurate so while its annoying, I dont mind it. Just have to always fly with a wingman watching your six! |
1st semi-finals.
159BAG_Flanker_13 vs. =FB=Wincel Worth watching. http://ru.justin.tv/dip78/b/301188439 |

In Russia, there is lots of great pilots and lots of cheaters, too. :o These duels are especially popular in Russia and many guys are amazing at 1 vs 1 in the same plane. There are many strong pilots outside Russia, too. The thing is duels and tournaments are perhaps not as big as in Russia. Just my observation... Ataros - thanks for vids - not bad, but some of the previous duels showed some much better skill imho - too many spins especially in a Hurricane fights. But I know how this feels - people are nervous, adrenaline pumps in ;) Nice tournament, congrats on the event and cheers for sharing it here! |

I remember in the USL the Russians came in and thrashed everybody. They had a massive squad to cherry pick their best, but what was interesting was the hardware. They would open up their sticks and mod them so they could fly using trim analogues on dials when closing in which was incredibly smooth - basically not using a joystick. The energy saved and the shooting accuracy from these mods was a ridiculous aid. I don't see the point myself, isn't it supposed to be a game and fun?

Interesting. I have the trims controls assigned to two analogue lever axis on my CH Quadrant because of their smoothness, but I don't use them for aiming. Willhave to experiment with that.
However, I was initially unhappy with my Warthog stick because I found it too stiff and too sensitive for fine aiming. From a Youtube how-to clip I removed the heavy mainspring completely and repositioned the four small secondary springs which looked after the stiffness. Playing with the X- and Y- response S- curves handled the sensitivity problem, yet still allowed full throw of the controls when needed. |
To be fair the reason I know this is because they were public about it on their webste with tutorials on how to do it. My point is the level of seriousness of it all - It's almost like it's real, whereas I see gaming as entertainment.
Fact remains that if a pilot wanted to score big, he'd fly eastern front ;) |
Aha. Roger that.

No, I think that some of the crews just have a completely different attitude to 'western' players.
|
There's lots of people in the West that also mod their sticks, check any of several dozen Youtube videos on how to do it. It's all in how serious you are, and how much quality you want out of your gear.
