Luthier - Please don't forget your Korean War aircraft!

Mate those models of the P-51, Twin Mustang, Skyraider and MiG-15 are too beautiful to be left rotting on a hard drive somewhere.

Please tell me you still have plans to bring them to life.

And this is a good definition of leaning a bit far forward in the saddle. :-P

Not really, Ilya started "Project Galba" at around the same time Oleg started CloD. The screen shots are floating around here somewhere. I look forward to Ilya's Korean add-on as much as anyone.

Would like to find the screen shots again.

Can we at least get to the African campaign first?

Timberwolf 11-21-2011 06:15 AM

For the masses I think its a bad idea Fighter Ace was a "good" ww2 combat sim/game People begged for newer maps and eye candy on the ground IE landmarks etc

They came out with a korea room Migs sabres B-29 Vulcan With rockets ( no missiles) And ya for the first 2 months it was fun .. but it was the same idea of maps and gunning at 700mph got boring it was more ramming then fighting ....Fighter ace soon died and closed after

We all have our own axe to grind, mine is Pacific War Aircraft, but not just one plane, the whole damned theatre with carriers and all.

OH and no jets, they suck!!! (and blow) :)

As much as I'd like to see us getting to the post-war stuff (early jets!! yuummm!). I think just thinking about it from a business standpoint, it makes much more sense to implement them in a chronological order. What I mean is, (and I'm going to use just WWII timeline for example, but it fits to post war stuff as well) if they put out '44 airplanes first, then when they go back to a '42 planeset, people will not want to fly them as much (unless you're particularly attracted to a certain plane) as the performance won't justify you bringing an underpowered plane to the fight. The sales would correspondingly drop, as people wouldn't see the need to downgrade their Mk. XXVII spitfires (with 100lb boosts! j/k here), P-51Ds, FW-190D-9s to the earlier planes.

Unfortunately, with that logic, the F-86s are a long way off
One wonders how anyone got into Rise of Flight after playing other sims.

If you don't even know the P-51 was not used in the Korean war, why should luthier care about what you post?

This is 1940, stop wishing my virtual life away ! :)

Oh, and btw P51s were used in Korea. They lost many in the ground attack role.

JG52Uther 11-21-2011 11:17 AM

Korea started in 1950. Only ten years to wait. ;)

TomcatViP 11-21-2011 01:12 PM

how many ten years is that in Oleg's "two weeks" units ?

Im still hoping for a mediterranean theatre since there are quite a few aircrafts allready available and the scenario itself is just awesome!

Sokol1 11-21-2011 06:58 PM

If Project Galba come in stand alone form, no problem in jump now to 1950. ;)

And now let’s fast forward about 10 years. From a Korean War simulator built on the Storm of War engine by Ilya Shevchenko and Co.

But this is my point. What happens to these beautiful models?

Could they be donated to another game or something?

Perhaps Luthier could cut a deal with a developer. Give them the CloD engine and some new aircraft models. It would inject some much needed life into the series.

Well I'd buy that. I got into RoF day one, but haven't invested further as the era doesn't really lift my wig even though the sim runs great on my system, but I do take one up every now and then as RoF offers one of the finest simulated flight environments available and it's quite simply a pleasure to be in. If they were to ever come up with an add-on that featured something like Fighting Tigers or World War Two combat aviation I'd be all over it like white on rice.

So was the F4U Corsair. I can't wait for more Carrier ops!

Seriously - these things must see the light of day:

(Scroll down a bit - hadn't seen the "weathered" twin mustang before)

CLOD < release worthy CLOD < Pacific < Korea

CLOD < release worthy CLOD < Med / barbarossa etc <Pacific < Korea

Korea won't work as well with the the navy has glitchy carriers

I hope they put helos*, MASH would be pretty fun.
