Bf109-E4B Skin for Leutnant Steindl II.JG54

Holla guys, i created this skin for the Bf-109-E4B.

Its in the Colours of Leutnant Steindls 109E of the II.JG54 during 1942 on the russian Front.

A huge credit must go out to Ali Fish for the use of his weathering template to help figure out the outlines of parts and panalling, was a massive help :)

Enjoy :)

Looks nice, thank you! It's good to have some eastern front skins ready when Barbarossa starts :)
It has couple of mistakes, no biggies but just to point them out if you are not aware. I think spinner has different colours and "<|" is also bit different, here's couple photos:

Thanks for the info mate ;) The pic i had for the left side was different, hence the different pattern, but ill fix it accordingly :)

Ill revise the skin on the weekend and release it as V2 ;) Ive saved all the textures as individual layers so it'll be quite easy to fix :)

beautiful skin

Helrza 11-13-2011 10:46 AM

for sure cheese, ill be more than happy to do that for ya :) I wont be able to do it thou till next weekend thou now, my teachers were nice enough to give me 2 assignments that i had to complete over the weekend, on top of studying for 2 tests this week, so i wasnt able to get round to fixing the errors with it either.

Also, sorry for my ignorance, but wat u mean by HK?

Hakenkreuz AKA Swastika.

For historical accuracy I presume :)

Hi Helzra,
I have to add a couple of things too, to make your goodlooking skin even better.;)
First get rid of that stencil from the lower cowling!
(totaly unhistorical for the E type! FYI, it was used from F type on and was placed only on the port side).

Considering that the plane was delivered in field with standard factory high demarcation camo scheme I doubt that the fuselage upper sides were finished only in RLM 75, even in a later state...

Not sure on the 109's but on the RAF aircraft stencils are hardcoded so you can't remove them.

Helrza 11-13-2011 05:00 PM

thanks for the input guys :) cowling stencil will be gone :P the 109's have them to kristof, but i added that one... Explains why it didnt have one in the 1st place :) as fpr the upper camo, that'll get sorted to. Gonna fix it according to db605's pics. The way its skinnned now is based on another colour pic i had, but i think the one here is most deffinitlyy the real scheme.

Thanks for that Helzra!

I find the hard coded stencils to be a problem, especially on the 109s,
because they may look fine on factory fresh machines,
but not at all accurate on field modified camos like in this one.
All the later camo layers including the yellow identification areas should cover the stencils, as period photo documentation reveals,
something that's now impossible in game, in the way the stencils are hadcoded! :(

sorry i aint finished the skin guys, ive been flat out at work, and on my one day off ive had to do stuff round the house. But ive fixed the camo and other small things on the sides, just gotta do the camo on the top and she'll be ready to go :)

Sorry. This is not Russian Front 1942, this is the Balkans in 1941. All JG54 took part in Barbarossa on Bf109F except ErgGr./JG54
