Realistic system specs
What does everyone think are the minimum and maximum specs for decent fps at medium to high settings. When I say decent I mean a minumum of 25 -30fps under ALL conditions.
AMD and Intel specs. |
I smell Xmas coming.....
And somebody is preparing his wishlist ;) |
Don't know what everyone else is running, here is what I have (recently upgraded to) and am achieving good frame rates 40--60 fps over land.
AMD M4N98TD-EVO AMD Phenom2 965 x 4, 3.4gig 8gig DDR3 Ram 2x GTS 450 Sli (1gig each) 1Tb HDD Partitioned x 5 700w Coolermaster single rail P/S 52a 19" Samsung 931BW monitor 1280 x 960 Resolution Single graphics card?? probably GTX 460 min or ATI equivalent. Make sure you get a Dx 11capable card. The Intel systems are probably slightly faster than AMD, but AMD would give best performance per dollar spent. I normally used Intel but decided to give AMD a try and am not sorry. My system is stock settings, no overclocking. Rick |
Minimum specs, using Win7 64-bit with 4GB memory:
Intel: Core2 Q6600 with a GeForce GTS450 AMD: Athlon-II X4 with a Radeon HD5770 (I guess you could swop the graphics cards around :)) Maximum: how deep are your pockets? Link  |
My system specs that will run IL-2 Cliffs of Dover as you please (Similar settings to what you want):
GTX 460 (single, not sli) AMD II 970 X4 at 3.5 (Stock) 8 gigs of 1.3 DDR3 ram. My system is mid range and plays it with decent performance but I may upgrade my graphics card in a couple of years. |
I do not play in the high settings with full buildings but i have my aircraft set to high and i love it even though my landscape is set low.
Until i get a new rig this is what i play on and with no lag either . Dell 560mt Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E5500 @ 2.80GHz Total Physical Memory: 6.00 GB Video Card - ATI Radeon HD 5770 and a 700 watt psu |
i have everything set on high but i dont use shadows or grass ( personal prefference ) @ 1680 res atm need 2 more moniters :)
my spec is AMD 1090T stock 8 gig corsair 1600 ram ati 6970 2 gig some crappy HD that needs replacing asus crosshair III mobo 1250 watt psu coolermaster |

Windows 7 64bit Pro
Intel X-25M SSD Intel E8400 (2x3Ghz) Core 2 Duo 8 GB RAM Nvidia GTX260 1600x1200, 60Hz Full Screen: Pseudo Detail Level: Custum Model Detail: Medium Building Detail: Medium Land Detail: Medium Forret: Off Visual Effects: Medium Texture quality: Original Anti-Alising: 2x Anti-Epilepsy Filter: OFF SSAO: OFF VSYNC: ON Damage Decals: High Building Amounts: Low Land Shading: Low Grass: ON Shadows: OFF Roads: ON FPS: 27-36 |
Just for reference... Look at my sig. I have everything maxed out with AA enabled via FxAA injector @1920x1200. Never dips below 30fps online and offline, even with 50+ planes in the sky. Paid a little over $1000 USD and it was worth every penny! I highly recommend going with the 2500k.. what a beast!
|
My rig (check my sign) handles this sim. pretty well with everything set to HigH, textures Original but Buildings and trees on Low for online play.

But i run everyting at high settings and 1024 x 784 i think it is on a 47 inch LCD TV No lag or shutters |
I agree with Tacoma,
I have done a lot of research into buying a new mid range PC that will handle COD with ease.... And the spec I decided on and ordered is: INTEL Core i5 2500K Quad Core (3.3Ghz) - Can be overclocked nicely :) ASUS P8Z68-V LX Motherboard (NEW Z68 CHIPSET) CORSAIR 16GB DDR3 1600Mhz RAM ATI HD 6950 2048MB (With VGA, DVI & HDMI) Like Tacoma said, the 2500k is a very good chip with some extremely impressive bench speed tests! Cost of my PC was a little over $1300 Quote:

What are the current specs Old?

And as far as running il2 COD, im running very high settings 1920x1080 with no problems, i dont have the urge to turn settings down so it must be good enough. The odd dip in FPS in unusual places but i know its not my hardware and just the result of a poorly optimized game engine (In fact it actually "feels" like the game engine is the problem, it really does). Because Crysis and Metro 2033 run great on high settings. And im very excited that we can expect even better preformance in the next patches, seems like more of a good thing. ;) |
With my machine I can run CLOD with Half max and half med settings except for trees which I run low or med as there seems to be some optimization issue with them causing micro-stutter when you are about 300ft or lower to the ground. With my 560 ti detail setting (with the exception of poorly optimized tree) or resolution change doesn't seem to have any effect at all on FPS. The lowest I get is about 28fps but its mostly around 32 to 36 when very close to the ground. Above about 1000ft I am getting anywhere between 45 to 60fps with v-sync on. I've managed to shoot down 2 human 109s in a spit the first real online game I played but there were some hiccups here and there. I am hoping that with some further optimization of the trees and such coupled with multicore support, the sim will be running beautifully when its all said and done. The last update really gave be big improvements so I have faith that the trend will continue.
My Specs. Believe it or not. Win 7 Home Premium Edition AMD 840 X4 @ 3.2Ghz 4Gigs DDR2 @ 800Mhz Foxconn A78AX-S mobo GTX 560 ti 1GB @950Mhz core As you can see I am running and older AM2+ motherboard with DDR 2. My memory timing is tight. I am planning and upgrading to an i5 2500k or i7 2600k shortly. With the ridiculously low price of DDR3 I'll probably be getting at least 8Gigs if not 16. I'm sure that will put me over the top but as it stands now my machine is pretty capable and I run pretty much ever game I own maxed. Oh and did I mention I am running a 26inch monitor at 1920x1200 and getting those FPS scores. I'm using FXAA as well. I can't wait till they get multicore working. Wondering if there is going to be a native 64 bit exe as well. I think if they get one of those things working the sim will rock on 2 year old systems. I know the multicore is coming but 64 bit might just be asking for too much unless its already implemented and I am just not aware of it. Oh and just thought I'd mention this, CLOD is $12.49 http://www.getgamesgo.com/product/il...liffs-of-dover |
Ok i have turned down my settings for some serious flying, so everything very high except grass off, building amount low, building detail low, tree level low, no AA AF....i was getting annoyed with the low fps over cities. Now the FPS is very stable and really i dont care about how the ground looks...im hardly down there anyways, once im up im high up, energy fighting.
So yeah they need to do some optimizations of ground objects, serious optimizations...and then mabye i will turn the settings back up. |

Looking through the broken windows of the HE111 I ca recognise th details of the tree behind it. No wonder we need 2-3GbVRAM on our GPUs for this game... ~S~ |
No, we don't.

Win7 64 AMD Phenom II X4 840 (actually an athlon II X4 at 3.2ghz) 4Gigs DDR3 Evga GTS250 (bottle neck I know) 19" flat tube CRT anyone have a system close to this playing CloD?? I figure I can probably play at 1024 x 768 with most settings on medium if lucky |
Will this system run COD smoothly?
I would like to play COD, but I would like to know if my system can play COD in the current, under-optimized version of the game. I am running:
Windows 64-Bit Home Premium Intel i5-2500K @ 3.30 Ghz - not overclocked, yet Asus P8P67PRO B3 Revision Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti - 1 TB - will upgrade to SLI 8 GB 1333 Kingston RAM WD Corsair Black 1 TB Corsair TX 850 Power Supply Realtek High-Definition onboard sound |

I have a system close to your specs and i'm happily running COD. The big difference in mine is that I use a Solid State Drive for my OS & COD and I have never installed any of the beta patches. |

Gameplay for me looks great but having a hardtime with Joystick settings and getting the aircraft to fly flat and normal I have the Trim on for up and down but the engine pull sucks so bad that i don't play to much offline and i think once online ...seems every sever is max engine controls and settings so really its a game thats nice to look at but not much more then that .. I use to play fighter ace for hours and hours .. Now its Battlefield3 and Arma2 Hoping to run a Asus CROSSFIRE V motherboard and AMD 8 core for Xmas |
I have a P8Z68-V pro, i7 2600k@4.5GHz, GTX570HD, G.skill ripjaws 8GB ram, with max graphics except for takeoff and landing i always get more than 30 fps
and the problems you're having with ur stick aren't anything to do with cliffs of dover... it has everything to do with the fact that fighter ace is your flying experiance... if you had played il2 1946, rise of flight, fsx, etc... before coming to this it wouldn't be re-learning how to fly... just learning how to do the fancy combat stuff without frying ur engine... and aim... and i would recommend getting the i5 2500k (make sure it has a k) and if you're going to get a new videocard get an nvidia card at least a gtx560ti but a pair of them would be better... or a single 580 the reason I got the gtx570 is because it has 2.5Gb vram, and i couldn't see paying 100$ more for 10% performance the 580 would give me... and the reason i recomend the 2500k over the 2600k is because the 2500k can easily be overclocked to the same speed as the 2600k or 2700k, it just doesn't have hyper-threading and has a smaller cache, those two things don't matter, but might help in longevity. but until ati steps it up a notch, nvidia/intel is the way to go... since amd/ati went 8 cores... in a world of single threaded appz... take the benchmarks below with a grain of salt, since the benchmark is multi-threaded, and 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of appz are single threaded. (or use less than 4 cores) http://s8.postimage.org/3mlkm3pur/cpu_benchmarks.jpg http://s7.postimage.org/5kq16bpi1/cpu_benchmarks.jpg |
