Olife,

Fantastic comic series my friend! Not since they days of reading Prince Valiant (which is a while ago...) have a I enjoyed reading a cartoon that much. Congratulations. I guess if you keep working at it and develop the characters around Capt. Bop a bit more, you could make a living doing this. Find a publisher, get printed, etc. Also good advertising for Gaijin, who knows, they might sponsor you...

:)

Looking forward to more!

You really ought to do as MAC says here Olife... Send it to Gaijin and give'em an offer they can't refuse:cool:
They might be interested in using it as advertising, hand-outs or something. It is astonishing how you can use screen-shots from a game like this, and make something totally new The pictures really tells a story by themselves...

Viva Marcel Bop! :-)

Excellent work Olife

I think Bop's superpower is unlimited ammo :P

What are these angles A and B though?

FOZ_1983 09-12-2011 09:44 PM

Use your imagination pope.

Angles - angels

Easy mistake to make if you don't know the lingo to well haha.

Like asking - what's a pencil fish by the way? :P hahahaha

millions thx my friend for kind words!

angle was a real code used in the raf ,in fact it is angle for altitude ,i read it in the book " LE GRAND CIRQUE "write by the 1st french ace of ww2 PIERRE CLOSTERMANN,who joigned the RAF .

in the extract of this book ,the radar operator said to him :

...HULLO DALMAT RED ONE ,PANDOR CALLING , BANDITS APPROACHING B FOR BAKER AT ANGLES Z FOR ZEBRA ...in fact b-baker is a code name for an area and angle Z is a code name for altitude Z ,in the case of PIERRE CLOSTERMANN fight ,Z is a letter code for 40000 feets!130000 meters of altitude.
it seems that the code name for altitude " angels "was used too ,or maybe one of this 2 words is wrong because of the confusion and stress during a battle ,pilots say angles instead of angels or inversaly ,or just a print error.

thx again sincerely
olife

Robotic Pope 09-13-2011 01:04 AM

Oh lol Angels, of course. I feel silly now for not realising. It was the codes got me confused. Ive only ever read altitude spoken as a number. Angels 10 (10,000ft). I'm not sure they would have had the same letter word for an altitude and for an area.

I've just finished reading Derek Robinson's novel Piece of Cake for the umpteenth time. In that they just subtract 2 for the altiude code, Angels 10 (12,000ft) and places or areas are given names of objects
(Fishpaste = Dover, Lampstand = Isle of Sheppey)

subtract or add? or am i missing something?

The code for the altitude was -2 (then later -4) so when the flight got told angels 10 they went up to 12,000 ft. So if Jerry was listening in he would intercept too low and would be unable to bounce the flight so easily. I don't know if in reality they did that. It's a fictional story even though heavyly based on facts and events.

Robotic Pope 09-13-2011 06:45 PM

Olife, was it you that made a small BoP comic strip just after the game launched?

That was great Olife. I really enjoyed the way you handled the layout and all the use of "sound effects" and callouts. This is a great way to tell a story with BOP.

Great work mate

MACADEMIC 09-17-2011 01:24 AM

Hey Olife San,

I think the offer Fenris made you was to make some skins that would help you make your next cartoon series. Remember the video we did for the Ace of Aces tournament - we actually also used WOP with the skins of the winner's aircrafts for that. I could imagine this to work well for your cartoon series too, if you want. The French Yak-3s for example? I'm sure we could find volunteers who would make a lot of screenshots for you in WOP.
