Thank you for your contribution to the IL-2 series that we all know and love. I hope you are still in touch with Ilya Shevchenko and the team. I'm not entirely sure if you are still apart of 1C: Maddox Games to some degree, but I'm sure you get access to beta versions and still have your say on aspects that interest you. ;)

Happy birthday to the guy and thanks for all the years of fun.

I don't blame him for changing working environments and won't hold it against him because

a) he's provided me with hundreds of hours of very cheap fun
b) he built a legacy that's continued by the current team: stick to your guns and do things for the value of doing them and not only for money, even if it means occasionally biting off more than you can chew.

I also hope his family is ok, rumor has it (from sukhoi.ru some months ago) that one of the reasons he changed jobs was that he needed something that paid well for equal or less working time, because his son had to undergo heart surgery. Kind of put things in perspective i think, so many of us acting like jilted children at the news of him leaving when it could very well be his real kids that needed him forcing the decision on his part.

Perhaphs it's a wild thought, but I hope that what Vizerra does may be used in IL2 COD in the (perhaps far) future, in which players can also be infantrymen, drive tanks, etc, on the ground. This company does 3D graphics of cities and so on: 3D cities and other ground objects are - reasonably, of course - the least simulated part in flight sims. I remember Oleg once talked about the possibility of BOB's incorporating land battles.
