Stick for CoD

Hi.

I need a new joystick for CoD, any recommendations? ;)

Allons! 08-14-2011 09:56 PM

Try a cheap Saitek that is programmable and has rudder controls. Recommend X45 for few bucks at ebay dot woteva

Sokol1 08-14-2011 10:45 PM

~50 U$ = entry level "all-in-one" Thrustmaster T.16000M with HALL sensor.

~100 U$ = HOTAS Saitek X-52

~310 U$ = HOTAS Saitek X-65 - Notice that is force sense stick with almost no movement.

~300/350 U$ = CH joy+throttle+pedal.

~500-600 U$= HOTAS Warthog + rudder pedal (CH or Saitek).

Avoid Logitech G-940, see many (bad) treads about problems.

If you can shell out for CH stick and throttle that's the way to go, I've got a Fighterstick and it's just absolutely phenomenal.

Microsoft Sidewinder 2. Simple and hard like a rock. You can use this one 20 years or more without problems. No problems of software, springs, contacts, etc, etc.

I Love Cliffs of Dover;-)

Thx guys, I allready have a MS FF2 joystick, but i would like some more axis to mess around with;-) Maybe I should just buy a CH Throttle Quadrant.

Tbone81 08-15-2011 12:22 PM

Anyone knows if it is possible to combine MS FF2 and CH throttle quadrant?

caprera 08-15-2011 12:23 PM

Thanks for this thread, i'll pick the names to get rid of mine asap ;-)

Of course, you can use MS FF2 (considered by many the best stick for WWII sim) with
CH Throttle Quadrant and/or CH PRO Throttle, Saitek PRO Quadrant, stand alone throttle of X-52 HOTAS, DIY one.
Same for CH PRO pedal, Saitek PRO, combat or Cessna pedal, Simped, etc.

Modern games see many controllers attached to PC (old IL-2 1946 is limited to four).

Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X PC/PS3 Controller. Google the name

I bought mine for $50 CDN 12 button, Rudder in the handle, Thorttle, Hat, For use on PC and PS3. You can split the joystick into 2 parts for throttle <<>>joystick use or keep it as 1 unit with a allen key that is under the joystick. A trim control built into the front of the thorttle. You can also Adjust the joystick resistance with a knob under the base for hard to soft stick Works on CLOD and Battlefield play4free and many others

If your looking for the best joystick in the $50 to $100 range with all the toys I would say this is it.

CH throttle quadrant rocks. I love it in IL2, and it will probably work just as well in CoD when it becomes a game worth playing.

All in all you will NOT regreat going CH. My stick/quadrant/pedals are all CH and they are worth every penny.

Hi.

Well. I have been looking around for a CH Throttle Qaudrant, but this thing is pretty much unavailable in my country "Denmark".

Its a shame, I would really like 6 ekstra axis.

Maybe I should just build one myself;-)

Long time ago i made a MCP using opencockpits I/O cards.

I know it is lagging a little finish, but it works;-)

If youve got FFB already then why not go for the G940

I got the setup for £120 of the bay and tbh i dont know what people are moaning about with this system...its superb

More button configs you can throw a stick at...very very precise and has the FFB too, it even comes with pedals!

When i first started to use it coming from a cyborg stick i thought the dead-zone around the center was too much but within a few hours of flying you get used to it..its not a problem at all was just me getting use to another stick

For £100-200 your getting stick/throttle and pedals and FFB which you obviously like... you'd pay the same money just for the CH throttle

Blackdog_kt 08-16-2011 01:23 PM

I think his Sidewinder is the non-FFB version (it looks exactly like mine and i have no FFB) ;-)

Where do you see my sidewinder?;)

It has FFB, haven´t used it in CoD yet though.

Blackdog_kt 08-16-2011 03:41 PM

Ah, i must have confused this thread with a similar one asking for new sticks advice. In that one there was a picture posted and it was the same as my stick.

Too many threads and fast reading makes for silly mistakes like this on my part, excuse me :-P

Tbone81 08-24-2011 11:56 AM

Update;-)

I have just bought a used CH Throttel Quadrant, that i will use in addition to my FFB2.

Looking forward to see if i can get the pitch and mixture control working.

Had a CH fighterstick but the Warthog blows it away.

In my opinion.

Yep, no problem -- the CH Quadrant works very well in CoD. Actually, although my MSFF2 continues to work fine, I have a TM16000 on order from Amazon.ca (~ $47 CAD). Reason: At times the force feedback works TOO well! Engine trouble causes the stick to shake violently, making it near-impossible to continue flying to the nearest airfield unless you switch off the engine. More annoying is the "recoil" when shooting your machine guns. This throws your aim off because the stick is shaking -- it's even worse when shooting cannons with Das Attorney's Spitfire_Cannon mod. I hate missing a carefully-lined up shot because of this artificial shaking giving unwanted false inputs to the control surfaces. OTOH, I'm going to miss "riding the tickle" in stall fights! :(

If you only ever want to buy 1 stick/hotas setup again then get a CH combo, it is bulletproof, awesomely accurate, and the programing can't be beat! It doesn't have FFB. But this in no way diminishes it's capabilities, I had a MsFFB stick years ago but have never missed it. 11 years of hard use with my CH setup and it is still like brand new!
