Just asking, im interested in knowing?

Your postings on this forums and others will be reviewed, afterward personal information will be reviewed that you submit. |
It's a secret. I could tell you but you but i'd be banned.
|
OOOOH! Whant to join the dark side! Noo Goood! BIG problem I see.
|
You must be wild and open ;)
Normally you learn its in backroom, well its what he tell me, i never be the same after that !! *Don t worry be happy .... lalala............. |
I was a ubi mod for a weekend, that was enough for me! ;)
There were more arguments in the private mod forum than in the public forums... |
Quote:
But the moderation displays the same total lack of integrity and ethical behaviour as the release of this bus-wreck of a game. Just another reason for Luthier to hang his head very very low. |
Quote:
Back on topic, Im not sure how you get a role as a moderator, not sure why anyone would want to, it would need a very brave person to bother moderating these forums as the above post shows, I'm actually surprised that more aren't banned, I think it's been suggested but this site needs an off topic whinge thread like they have started at Sim HQ, then when in the mood you can browse the complaints or complain yourslf, and keep the normal forum for assistance and relevant info. |
It is amazing but after doing mods you will be a renegade, but mod users will loves you
that's my own experience |
Anyone can become a mod. You just need half a brain.
If you know what I mean. ;-) |
Buy a scooter and a Fred Perry Tee-shirt.
You might need a parka with an RAF roundel on the back. And some hair to have styled nicely. |
Quote:
You just got off ban and you are going back to banned status, if you keep this up. Read the rules before you post... 14. Discussion of topics which were locked by an administrator or a moderator is prohibited. Any kind of discussion concerning moderators' or administrators' actions is prohibited. I'm leaving your posting so anyone that hasn't read the rules will read the rules. |

Where I work, when anybody has a pissing match, the management usually put all involved in charge of the problem... (Not saying this is the case, but....) 9 times out of 10, the players end up wishing they had thought it through... Coz they end up being the new target  But I think you could have fun with it... English sense of fair-play, what? what? |

I dont think being a mod would be any good for me, I would be baning people left right and centre, infact, I would be baning people who are allready baned:rolleyes: |
I ride a GS scooter with my hair cut neat, I wear my wartime coat in the winter sleet.
So, you'll need a nice 3 button suit, with narrow lapels and six inch side vents, and with a ticket pocket. Bottoms of trousers no more than 16 inches. Button down shirt and tie, no wider than 1 inch. French crop haircut done with a razor only. Vespa or Lambretta scooter with lots of chrome and mirrors. A spanner for those pesky rockers down at Brighton Beach. And a large collection of Sixties soul music as well as the Who, Small Faces, The Jam, etc. Think that about covers it, Please post pictures. |
nah, I'll stick to my Triumph Bonneville, had far too many accidents with the Vespa front suspension system
Uh, and on an interesting aviation geek note, the legend says that the engine and the front suspension of the Vespa derived from components used for the Piaggio P.108, respectively a starter engine (or compressor engine, can't remember) and the rear landing gear! |
Nothing like a front wheel blow out on a Vespa to get the heart racing.;-)

It has to be one of the most unrewarding 'jobs' you could probaby could on a forum. I had 1-2 years at AAA (Potenz here had more) and I would never do it again. I used to enjoy it in the early years, but having to deal with problems between other modding sites only really serves to alienate yourself; especially when you begin to realise the management of the forum itself is seriously at fault (almost like a Big Brother scenario).
So Doc wants to be a member of the thought police, eh? |
Pfft get a real bike:
http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...3/1621125e.jpg Seriously though, always liked the bike culture, have a few friends that have some old lambretta's very cool bikes...so much more easier :) by the time ive got my leathers on they've already enjoyed a ride out  Sry for the OT Doc |
Beautiful machine.
|
Jamz, nice bike. though im scared just looking at it.

great bike, loving the all black looks, although I'm a sucker for chrome, which doesn't really suit modern Japanese street bikes.. there's one thing that always fascinated me about speed: it boggles my mind when you think that you can actually fly at lower speeds than your bike can reach lol |
Quote:
Mate thats always baffled me when you look at 747's taking off or the new Airbus with its short take off capability with something that weighs that much can actually get up |
Quote:

Thought 'Blades had the pipe under the seat these days.
Or have they gone back to the 'cool seat' arrangement? Ah me, the Fogarty/Witham/Slight/Corser/Haga/Huewen and Ryder years......not forgetting the lovely Suzi Perry. Sighs whistfully............ |
Quote:
this the model now till next year when they change it again but also add a new electronics package.. ABS/Traction/anti wheelie controll etc |
|
Quote:
I always said bikes were the closest thing to flying without leaving the ground too. 'anti wheelie control'?? - Nope, sorry, but no thanks!:D Edit: Woo-hoo, nice pic, cheers! |

I've tried hanging up my gloves as it were but they keep coming back out..Ive had fast cars, M3 was my last but it doesn't compare to the thrill of riding. I'm not sure i would commute though, just a fun weekend thing and keep the car for work. Dont think Il ever be without some sort of motorized 2 wheeler..not while I'm still able to get on one anyway |
Quote:
Kind of hard to explain unless you ride |

Last bike was a ZX6R.Sold it 6 years ago. As you can gather, I was always fond of 'giant killers'! I find now though, that to use a bike as I'd like to, I'd end up either banned or damaged, what with speed bumps, speed cameras, helicopters in Wales etc. And of course, Mr Sunday Driver. So now I try to convince myself that a soft-top is more comfortable in summer as I don't need helmet and leathers. And the air-con is lovely. Nope, doesn't work, that argument, does it? :( |
Quote:
There's no difference now from when you were riding last apart from obviously the speed camera numbers but do you get them in Rural areas so much? you get them from time to time here in the south but hardly any on the known biker roads |
Wales was pretty much my old stomping ground.
Doing a 'lap of Wales' on a Sunday was a common ride out. A few years ago, a new police chief there clamped down really hard on all things bike. A few old mates ended up banned for speeding and one with a 'dangerous driving' conviction. He was nabbed by a plain clothes car. So we started doing the Cat and Fiddle, Devil's Bridge and Matlock runs, until another mate dropped his 'Blade on the Cat, broke 5 ribs and punctured a lung. Luckily, I've never had a major spill, but I felt it was just a matter of time I suppose. The other snag I have is that from where I live, it's a fair old journey on boring roads to get to any decent biker country in pretty much every direction. So I should move house, forget about the other stuff and bite the bullet, I suppose. :) |

not very abt but...you only live once |

Do we get the prize for most seriously off-topic thread derailment? (Sorry, Doc!);-) |

Buells are ok..V-twins nice sound and will prob be the engine i go for next... Ducatti or the new KTM rc8r possibly..Loving the BMW but again its a 4 stroke and i fancy something a bit different next having all (3off) 4 strokes |
The thing I most miss from yesteryear has to be the smell of 2-stroke oil.
Castrol 'R' is the obvious one, but Silkolene Comp2 injector had a really aromatic appeal. My brother had those oil burning 'aromatherapy' burners in his garage, burning various 2-stroke oils to get that 'race meeting atmosphere' before a ride out.:D I looked up the old road-going RG500 on e-bay the other day and nearly fell off my chair. One was going for £13,000!! Only 25 miles to the gallon if you're lucky. It's such a shame that emissions and fuel consumption saw 2 strokes off. One time we went to Cadwell for the British Superbikes. I was on a KR1S 250, the rest were on 'Blades, ZXR750's and FZR750's. 'Are you sure you're going to be able to keep up?' said Steve. 150 miles later they all wanted a go of my bike. They couldn't believe the performance. 135 mph from a 250 that weighed about the same as my boots, but in fairness, they had to keep stopping for me to fill up with petrol, again. But Grin factor 12, Mr Sulu!! I'm not sure anything available now would have that sort of appeal. |

You boys need a hardtail chop mod.All the excitement you will ever need.
I have more fun on mine than I ever did on my GPz 900! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...Uther/chop.jpg Or,you can always try the tractor mod.1000cc and the engine falls out at 70mph... ;) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...r/scan0004.jpg |

Looks very nice anyway, although I'd love to know how you cope with our pot-holed roads. Me, I slipped a disc last year and would be literally scared of the knocks! The other one's a standard Sportster isn't it? |

And I havnt done my bike test.. i am thinking about it When i was a lad:) I always had a little 125, on a provisional license So i have good bike sense, its just getting round to doing it:) |

Im going to make it my mission to get us all together for a rideout lol Uk CloD Clan bikers type thingy |

Oh, forgot haven't got a bike no more.:( |

The Sportster is a '79 Ironhead model, with an SU carb and open bellmouth. Don't have it anymore but it was fun blipping the throttle in town and spraying raw fuel all over your leg! :) |
lol..brilliant

I used to get a kick out of revving a worn 350LC in front of some Cavalier SRi Driver, and filling his windscreen with unburnt 2-Stroke! Ah, the memories!! |
I remember a frayed throttle cable on my old ex proddy racer 250LC that resulted in me screaming through a village with the throttle stuck wide open and me hanging on in sheer terror.
It wasn't just the bike screaming! ;) Ah I'm getting all misty eyed for the old days now... |

When I had the old Z650, on the way home from work one day, the main wiring loom burst into flames under the tank. I jumped off the bike, put my visor down and batted the flames out with my hands (with gloves on of course). After the fire had gone out, I thumbed the starter and rode the thing home about 15 miles, with every wire bare copper. Although that was nothing to taking a race tuned X7 around Three Sisters go-kart track near Wigan, and at the first bend discovering the front brake had lost all its fluid. My, that stung a bit. |

It's great.
No tinkering, no leaks, no searching for parts. Reliable as a Honda, without being soulless/boring. And I am not knocking Honda at all. My first bike was a Honda, never a problem, but totally forgettable. The new Bonneville is a good handling machine and is easily accessible to beginners and satisfying for experienced riders too. It wont set the world on fire speed wise, but it's fast enough for me now a days. I've got nothing to prove to anyone but myself so going 100mph+ is just, well, stupid on the public highway. I still enjoy showing my replica Lucas tail light to Harleys in the twisty bits though... :-o |

Harleys. Technology of a Lada for the price of a Ferrari. Not a fan I'm afraid. But the Buell, though, now that's interesting.;-) |

Lol Mods on Vespa's, God that brings back memories:grin::grin::grin: No I am not that old, but yeah nice to see mods with a sence of humour :-D:-D:-D |
I quite like the modern Triumphs.I'm getting too old for all the constant tinkering with old bikes.Lying on a cold garage floor has lost its apeal.
The Triumph factory is only 30 miles away from where I'm sitting anyway! |

p.s - only a joke mate, very nice bike. |

Here is our toy shop. Mine are the Triumph and Aprilia. The missus has the dukes. We do big kays on our bikes a typical day ride for the two of us would be 1200 kays. The aprilia allready has 85000 kays on it.

Bleedin' rockers. All that greasy hair and leather, it's diabolical!;-)

Anything that doesn't spray hot oil down your left leg is not a bike. Close El-Aurens but no cigar. Far too clean and tidy. And it was the Stones, the Kinks, and the Nightingale or Saltbox cafes at Biggin Hill - it took guts to walk into those places off an old 350cc AJS which maxed out at 85mph :). But it was a Bike. And none of those namby pamby frothy coffee hangouts either. Mods! Enough to make me spit out my rusk! |

:) My bike ,although i haven't ridden her for a year due to illness, Hence my call sign.
A friend of mine is a designer for Triumph .I have to say i like the looks of the modern ones and the advantages of lack of maintenance. http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/p...y/Triumph1.jpg |

I don't ride a motorcycle, but I've always had a fond spot in my heart for AJS. Those are my initials and my father always used to joke that I was named after that company.

With all the pictures of these bikes around it reminds me of the time I was pulled up at a set of lights on my Vespa, all suited and booted, parka, etc. I was suddenly surrounded by about 20 or 30 bikers on Harley Davidsons in club colours. The biker next to me looked over, and I got ready to go full throttle, but all he said was "nice bike", to which I replied " Thanks, yours too ". Lights went green and I took off and I was actually ahead of the pack for about 2 seconds till they raced past. Ahh, memories ...:-D |

By some quirk of fate I ended up with his war medals, which I had re-ribboned, and an Afghani Kukhri knife, which my Dad used to use for gardening. I've seen pictures of his headstone in the cemetery in Belgium on the War Graves Commission site and must make the time to go there soon. Luckily, he wasn't one of the 'unknowns'. My Grandma also lost both brothers in the Great War, I have a picture of one of them which appeared in the local newspaper at the time and I kid you not I thought it was a picture of me at the same age. Very spooky.:( |
Well what a direction change this is now..
Well if i tell you a short Story: Me and 3 mates went on a road trip from Portsmouth to Holland.. obviously we went to Amsterdam for 3-4 days but 1 of my mates was also on a mission.. His Great Uncle was a ww2 bomber pilot, i have the squadron details somewhere but not at hand, they had been on a Bombing mission over Germany when they got broke up after being attacked by 109's..we know this by the yellow nose story's that followed by the rest of the squadron.. They were lost, completely on their own but soon found enough landmarks over Holland to get their bearings and the route they must take to get home. They decided to fly low to avoid being spotted by enemy fighters as they were shot up pretty bad by all accounts..this is where they met the Sh*t end of the 'good luck stick', they flew over 2 109's and their ground crews refueling in a field. One of the 109's scrambled chased the lancaster and shot it down.. Most of the crew died apart from the Pilot (my friends great uncle) and the top gunner whos story im now quoting but he was unconscious and took a good few months before his memory came back to him.. A Women who lived near to the field they crashed in see what happened and run to the burning wreckage, the gunner was 15 meters away from the wreck but the pilot was crawling out badly burnt so she dragged him away saving his life from the explosion that was to soon take place..thats that part of the story.. So there we are driving to this area after our wild 3 nights in the 'dam' asking people/ shop owners and farmers where this field was, after 7 hours of driving and looking for this field we were there but couldnt get our bearings when suddenly one of us notices smoke coming from another field behind a hedge, it was a house..we drove to the house and a lady came out who approached us wondering what we were doing, unfortunately none of us spoke Dutch but lucky for us she spoke a little English.. Ok i cannot tell you how our quite giddy selves become very humble/sad to be honest when we find out this old lady was the daughter of the girl who pulled my friends uncle out of the wreck! after looking at various photos and when we thought this adventure had actually finished she took us to the field.. On this field was a Plaque and a small gravestone which the ladys mother laid for the crewmen she buried..my friend understandably started to cry and gave this women a hug.. Man i cannot tell you the feeling that came over me at that minute after our incredible journey to find this place to meet this women and to see this plaque.. My friends mission was over...to lay down a small necklace that his auntie had given to him..He promised her before she died that one day he will find that place and do what she was unable to do and was unable to find herself.. way off topic guys but i guess whenever we talk about or i read about these sorts of things that adventure always seems to pop up in my thoughts ~S~ |
That's a superb story mate. All this stuff always brings it home to me that it wasn't really all that long ago. Nice one.
|
Thanks for relating that Ze-Jamz, and it seems that despite our differences on the forum, we all have a bit more in common than perhaps we would like to admit.
S! Gentlemen. Oh, and Tree, I took no offence, and actually had a good chuckle over your comment. |
