Yep. I still think the 'radio silence' is because they are endeavoring to get it out ASAP after the N. American release.

Feathered_IV 07-19-2011 03:02 PM

No fanfare? No, jolly proud to release after seven years development etc.? Just slide it under the door, knock once and run away?

Its fallen quite a way... :(

LoBiSoMeM 07-19-2011 03:07 PM

I still not believe!

I'll buy AGAIN CloD to test this subject!!!

Bokononist 07-19-2011 03:07 PM

Is that the steam download? Reliable US source says steam release is still 3 hours away. Can you get the version number before the dl, or have you downloaded from elsewhere?

Dr str@nglove 07-19-2011 03:11 PM

1c seem to have the sound bug to

lensman1945 07-19-2011 03:11 PM

Well it's only fair that the US have all the fun of downloading patches too:rolleyes:

pupaxx 07-19-2011 03:17 PM

but if u remember it was well said that for remaining issues to be tuned is matter of months... so patience...

What would the point of delaying the US release be then? Why not let them have it 3 or 4 weeks ago?

It beggars belief unless it's all been a joke and a patch appears on steam within the next 24 hours.

I didn't even hear the knock.:(

Krt_Bong 07-19-2011 03:33 PM

The US release isn't until 2:00pm EST although I have the game already, if you are in the US and you got it from STEAM you likely bought it somewhere else, like I did. Wait for a couple more hours.

+1 to that!!! Whinners LIE!!!

von Pilsner 07-19-2011 03:39 PM

Steam often allows downloading of new games on release day (sometimes earlier) before the unlock time (so you can have it ready when it unlocks).

Hooves 07-19-2011 03:46 PM

This really is a sad state of affairs. I was to one of the ones saying it will get better. But It is still unplayable for me and today I lost all hope that any of those guys in that picture are sober enough to even work on the game. To me its always seemed as if someone else coded it it and quit and they said "here ya go" and the rest of the team starting poking and proding it to find out how the game worked.

I always hoped that the US release would be the shining day for CloD. But Alas. They have just tossed it over the US fence and run.

I'll abandon all hope when Hawaii passes midnight.

you can be absolutely sure that no patch will be available.. they just don't care anymore about us, as you can see no news and no words from Ilya

JG52Uther 07-19-2011 03:55 PM

Someone at simhq has the American DVD.There seems to be a bit of excitement about there being no mention of steam on the box.
Might be fun later...

No news and no words from Luthier is exactly why we should expect a patch today or maby tomorrow.

If there is no word OR patch today, well..........!?

David198502 07-19-2011 04:16 PM

well i looked at the site, and the box really shows nothing about steam whatsoever.pretty interesting.

Bobb4 07-19-2011 04:20 PM

My box had no mention of steam either, trust me steam is needed :(
As for it being the same version, obviously everyone is updating to the same versions as us. Duh, steam does not change from place to place, release date may but the basic game is always the same.
Now when steam update the game to their release (the one we are actually waiting for) only then will be officially know if their is indeed an updated version. :(
I do not hold out any hope that it is, but only steam will tell

Ataros 07-19-2011 04:21 PM

Deadlines are usually missed. I think the patch is coming on Thursday or Friday the earliest.

In case they decide to issue the patch with sound fix included it may come in a couple of weeks when sound is ready.

It may be the case that UBI refused to delay the release further and decided to do it anyway but very quietly hoping not many people purchase it before the patch is ready.

Probably we do not have any news because no one knows when the patch is ready yet, even the devs. Bug-hunting is unpredictable, it may take 2 hours and may take a week to hunt 1 nasty bug preventing patch issue.

I don't believe they will give us a patch without a beta first like they always did. I hope to be wrong, but right now i lost every hope...

JG52Uther 07-19-2011 04:24 PM

Ataros I admire your optimism, I really do. You are in a group that is decreaing in number with every passing day.
In this case no news is NOT good news.

+1.

I'm sure they were shooting for today but couldn't get it done. I'm sure they are eager to get a patch out that makes solid improvements ASAP.

Tbh I dont think its necessarily the patch thats the issue..its being informed that is and has always been most peoples bug bare..its the same every single week..

The US release is out...an update then for us and more importantly (at present) your new customers who have followed the progress though be it very small of this game..

''were still working on xxxx & xxx'' would suffice

furbs 07-19-2011 04:35 PM

Guys, if they were trying for today, we would of know last week. Luthier has always told us a week or more before the retail patch.

Beta patch first....

1 week or 2 weeks later retail patch.

Luthier hasn't logged in here or the Russian forum since the 1st of July.

furbs 07-19-2011 04:36 PM

Luthier is prob on a beach somewhere.

JG52Uther 07-19-2011 04:37 PM

There is apparently, NO mention of steam being required anywhere on the US DVD version.
Either 1C have kicked steam into touch (doubtful) or some people are going to buy it and get a nasty surprise.

Tree_UK 07-19-2011 04:45 PM

Had an email from Steam regarding my complaint about the release of CLOD, they suggested I go to the developer to get a refund. Luthier, please contact me so I can give you my bank details, just refund me the price of the game, no charge for alpha and beta testing.

Ataros I Guess you forgot this. I know that you are being lenient but still, I dont think you should make excuses for them, their absence shows they dont care what you or i think. Let them make their own excuses.

Baron 07-19-2011 04:47 PM

slightly off topic: Is there any possibility that Steam is the reason Cod is so buggy (sounds cutting out, bad framerates etc)?

Before u laugh, i know Steam wont make the AI stupid for ex. but is it so far fetched to think Steam might be the reason sound cuts out? And Steam Cloud was one of the first things we where told to turn of to improve frame rates iirc.

Just throwing it out there.

furbs 07-19-2011 04:48 PM

Baron, the sound bug is MP right?

with out steam....im sure you get it now... :)

Well people are reporting turning trees off cures most of the sound issues..i haven't tried it myself but if its correct id say NO

Pudfark 07-19-2011 04:50 PM

Don't forget to check your shoes after exiting....

BigPickle 07-19-2011 04:51 PM

confirmed* turn off trees, I've had no sound bug so far.
LOL they'll say its fixed with the latest patch and it will be the houses that knock the sound out instead :)

It's possible, but there are so many games that work just fine with Steam (in that their MP servers and sound work) that it seems like game-breaking issues would be related to the game code.

Troll2k 07-19-2011 05:03 PM

My guess is that Ubi did not want to delay the North American release again.

They were hoping to have a viable patch but when the deadline came and went they had to let last month's version go gold so it could be in the stores today.

skyfox 07-19-2011 05:11 PM

I can verify that it is now on the shelf at Best Buy in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

furbs 07-19-2011 05:16 PM

Did u buy it?

pupaxx 07-19-2011 05:50 PM

Hey chaps,
I discover the truth...we are all victims of a sociological/pedagogical experiment, we are the subjects of Oleg's graduation thesis.
The Oleg's purpose is to demonstrate how a gaggle of adults regress to a childish stage if opportunely stressed and circumvented.

Now he's printing his conlusions, he is ready to sustain his dissertation. He has no time or interest in continuing the experiment.

Cheeeers

skyfox 07-19-2011 06:09 PM

Nope. Will probably pick it up in a few weeks after I upgrade to Win 7. Not in as big a hurry as I was a few months ago.
