Will we get an update today?
You know,friday and all................;)

There should be a beta released today at approx 1700hrs BST, unless they let us down.
|
If we do I hope to god it will at least mention that they know of the non working Anti Alaising, FPS drop on high end machines since 2 patches ago, and Stuttering problems on high end machines since 2 patches ago....
At least aknowlage they exist and that they are being looked into... At least.... Gollum:confused: |
Personally I don't think we'll see anything now until just before the American release due on the 19th of this month.
Luthier said previously, the updates will now be far more spread apart, but will address more of the problems, still to be fixed. This is'nt such a bad thing as I do think these weekly updates seem to fixed somethings and break others. More time spent on these updates has to be a good thing IMO. |
what might be nice is a sneak teaser of some of the new sounds.

The way it has worked on the last few patches is;
1 Official patch released on a Friday. 2 Two weeks later a beta come's out on a Friday. 3 One week later an official patch comes out. It's been two weeks today since the last official patch, so that means there should be a beta out today. Luther did say that when the last official patch came out, that the coop mode should be out shortly. Quote. luthier Senior Member * June 24, 2011 - v1.02.14821 Release Patch It should be available for auto-update from steam in a few hours. Unfortunately two major things we cut out of the beta version of the patch did not make it into this release. Distant 2D clouds continue to conflict with NVidia SLI. The old Il-2 co-op style plane/position selection GUI also needs more work. These changes will be released shortly. Excuse the quoting. Have not worked out how to do this on my phone yet as I'm posting from work. |
Fair one but, he also said the regular patches will give way to greater time scales between patches.
Also included in the routine you spoke about was a quick update thread before the beta friday to let people know what the change log might be. So with that in mind your making a pretty big assumption, but with some logic i will add :) |
"Released shortly" could be anytime this year. :)
|
Well, I do not need a patch every Friday, but a constant dialog with the devs (..well a single post by Luthier) is appreciated.

having the posts in mind given by the developers in the months before CoD release....i dont care this "we are working on it" posts personaly!
The outcome, read working game updates/patches, are the thing i am looking forward. there was enough 'BLA BLA' in the past already IMHO |
Shortly surely means within a week or two.
I've got 8 co-ops that are 90% complete but can't finish them as no other human players can join to fully test them. The coop mode is the reason myself and a lot of others bought this game, and yet the game is nearly 4 months old and I still can't play it. I don't want to be a whiner, but I'm just so extremely frustrated, and my patience is rapidly running out. Thing is, buy the time this game works properly, most will have given up with waiting. |

Back to the RoF offline career then.
Has anyone got any links for any new flight sims that are on the horizon? |

But for WWII this one is the last one. |

There are no new WW2 aircombat simulators on the horizon. The Gaijin developers of WOP are working on something, but I'm not so sure it will be anything that the IL-2 crowd would be interested in. Many in the community bought their first sim, but there was nothing in it, to hold their attention for very long. |

That's why keeping in touch is so vital! And don't tell me a little update is too much work,c'mon! If people get the feeling(wrongly no doubt, but still..)they care much than the dev's do,well, it's lights out! |
Its hard to believe how impatient people have become. Time goes by very slowly for us, but we seem to have no idea how quickly a week or two goes by for the developers when your working under that time pressure. Its taken years to get to this state in the sim and its not going to finished in a few weeks, or months. Luckily it appears the early release sales have kept the bean counters at bay, the development team intact, and working.
|
Chivas, the reason we have become inpatient is were waiting for the sim to be fixed.
If the sim was working well in SP(no campaign) or MP(no sound or coops) we would have something to do. Were waiting for Luthier to tell us the game we paid for is now working. |
what day is it today? Minecraft while waiting for Luthier day :D
|
Luthier has given the new community manager all responsibility for posting updates and news...........
|
good one

Here's a tip, check out the Steam summer sale that's on right now. Some damn good deals there. Picked up Just Cause 2 and Wings of Prey for a grand total of 9€! That's a lot of fun for the old buck.:) Haven't played CloD for a while now but I'm watching the forums like a hawk, waiting for the king of patches to arrive. ;)

We have multiple choices.. 1. We can help the developer as much as we can with beta testing and constructive criticism 2. We can enjoy the features that are in the sim until others features are added or fixed 3. We can buy the sim and move on to other things and hope our monetary support will make a difference 4. We can wait a few years for another developer 5. We can spam the forums with vindictive negativity that can only drive away prospective customers, so we can tell everyone we told you so in an empty forum. |

FMB and fun?no documentation at all.weathersystem not working.fun with this ai?after you shot down twenty ai enemies, maybe one reacts and tries to get on your six.hey but no problem you can escape with running through trees.
we all know now that your sim is running great Lobisomem!its getting boring as well. and while you are completely happy, others are not.so let them express their opinion.if you dont share or care, why do you respond anyway? |
Quote:
I'm not completly happy, I just have a life that I don't want to waste just whinning about issues with CloD that will be solved with time. I'm having fun with I already have, all bugs are already reported and Maddox Games are doing an OK job in patch this thing. Go buy a better VGA. You'll need it! Battlefield 3 is about to be released... |
well i dont play battlefield, im not interested in computergames at all except flight sims.
you already told me to buy a better vga.i already told you twice that i know its weak.but i dont need a better one right now.i can play cod with reduced settings.although there is a performance lost since two patches.and stutters are back. but why should i invest in hardware when there is no content in game.no sound, crap ai,disconections from servers.no people on servers.trees you can fly through, colours that are more than improvable, and inacurate flight models. whats left?beautiful cockpits, cem, damage model.those 3 features keep me hoping. btw i want my realistic gauges back. |

What do you expect the developers to say on a daily or weekly basis. Things simply don't get done that quickly. They have far more pressing priorities than baby sitting us as daily. A monthly status report would be much more informative. Atleast then they would have had time to actually get something done. |
Quote:
Tree I agree, with most of your comments. But Luthier several times said, that the customers have a right to be angry. For me this is enough. I mean apology. Some time ago I was said that Clod will not be fully ready for some time and probably will shine in all its glory around Christmas this year. The fact is, that the Clod released one Year too soon. Patience fellas. rgr. |

Just get a rope, a chair and do what you need to do. No reason to live in this sad world with this crap AI, MP sound bug and trees without collision mesh... I'll keep doing videos, flying fast airquake MP and exploring things in FMB and in planes FM, their behavior, etc. If things don't be solved in next patches, I'll buy a gun and will see you soon in the other side! Farewell, my friend! |

You guys should just go to the forums of your new best friends then :)
I tried playing the WoP demo. Couldn't get past 10m. It was that bad. |
I have WOP and IL1946 installed and haven't booted either since CoD was launched. CoD's not perfect but it's my first choice over anything else.
If Luthier decides to post that's fine, if not - then he's probably got other things to do and that's fine by me too - it's not the end of the world, or the sim or my enjoyment of what does work well in CoD! |
Quote:
A lot of sims with old warbirds to enjoy: IL-2 1946, RoF and CloD. I can wait just reporting bugs of CloD until it's get tottaly fixed and with all planned stuff working. But mock people that jump in this forum just to whinne is "trolling"... Funny! I believe that "trolling" here in these days is whinne about collision meshes in trees and stuff that everybody knows about... |

Im sorry, 1352 playing WoP? I don't believe that for one second. |

On steam right now...
now-1174 peak today- 1800 http://store.steampowered.com/stats/ have a look for yourself Chivas...and get back to me. |
I think that it is only to be expected most of the whiners should have, especially since some have promised to turn over a new leaf and change their behaviour, realise that repetitive whining is detremental to the mood of the forum.
(I tried to fit in as many of the I WANT GIVEME NOW! words I could, please add the ones I left out!) Personally I find reading most of the whining posts as pleasant as driving not needles under my toe nails and then dipping them in vinager! Yes, as I will probably be told, you are just expressing your opinion, thats all I'm doing here. But please could your do it in a less repetitive, annoying and boring manor? I feel if you just tried you could pick up your game by the next day you think Luthier will post an update on. Thank you. |
Well thats interesting. Does Steam connect you thru YuPlays dedicated server or on their own Steam servers. I didn't buy WOP thru Steam and when I went online it directed me to the yuplay server where there were very few playing.
|

counted offline as well i would guess fellas.

Yes but Chivas, your guessing again. We dont want you to guess, we can all guess at stuff.
We want to know whats going on from them. The last patch, Luthier didnt even ask for a bug thread, i posted it myself, and since then he hasn't even acknowledged anything about that patch, the bug thread or anything in it...hell he didnt even acknowledge its there. Then we get last weeks update where nothing was said about any patch ,or the bugs from last week, or the missing items that were going to be released shortly or community manager...no we get some pictures of the team. And this week nothing about fecking anything. |
The steam list is very interesting, especially since you don't have to buy WoP through steam. Due to a playable offline campaign I guess? Can't wait to see CoD on the list.

Nobody has chased anyone away Walshy. those are the facts, if you see the last few weeks any different then say.
|
Ive personally thrown in the towel for a bit, I have no doubt they will fix it, but I consider the game an investment with a later return, the last 3 patches have regressed for me, 1st patch was great since but the last few have been worse, I blame ubi.

We know the Maddox Games is still working on the sim. They are working on the bugs in the most logical order with the all information we are not privy too. I'm sure they read the forums to compile bugs their customers are experiencing otherwise they wouldn't bother posting betas to the general public. There just to many bugs and features to fix to waste time discussing them on the forums. I'm sure when things become more manageable the developer may have time to discuss them with us. Like I said before a week isn't long enough to accomplish much, but the team has been able to post stuff on most Friday's lately. Who knows the team may have finally had time to take the vacation they were suppose to have in May. Telling people here they were taking a couple of days off would be like kissing a venomous snake. |
Quote:
+1 I do hope they have and we'll benefit from it. |

I don't think MP at the exclusion of SP is intelligent. |

No , no update today. Nothing to be updated about tbh . Everything is broken. They are fixing it .
That's ya update. |
Take it easy guys, don't get all girlie over WoP. I just said in my original post that whilst one waits for CloD to be fixed there are plenty of other nice distractions in the mean time. Why do you have to go WoP bashing like that, I merely pointed out that WoP had 1,352 people playing it at one time and...well CloD wasn't even on the list so I don't know. And the funniest part is that I didn't even compare WoP to CloD or said that it was better in anyway. WoP is a different experience and is supposed to be taken for what it is, it's not a super high fidelity sim but it's fun for a quick ride and it looks gorgeous, albeit not realistic. Geez, are there only narrow minded old geezers here or what?

I hope your right and im wrong and in a few weeks, months or years we can laugh about this and go and have a dogfight online, because that's what i really want to be doing. |
yer we can all laugh about how we all bought new hardware to test a game and contributed our £££ to make a game, is luthier that busy that he cant spare the 20 secs to post here, if he is then the games in a even more sorry state than he makes out.
he expected us to buy this, spend our money on getting it to work right, spending hours testing it, fiddling with it, thats our commitment, and he cant spend 20 seconds to give us an update, people keep saying go play something else till its fixed, well.....how about if we all did that?? there would be no one playing it for another year at least and if your satisfied with how this game works now then you have very low expectations in life. |
LMAO Is Luthier rolling around in our money rubbing himself down with it saying Mowwarr ! Mwwhahahaha ! like an evil dark prince... Or maybe he's just sweating over a monitor watching the clock knowing the 19th is comming closer .... Or maybe he's wondering what the hell is wrong with us here, and trying the fathom why we are so passionate to the point of obsession and his mindbendingly spectacular flight simulat.. oh sorry, flight sim.
Or maybe he just dont care as he knows one person can be fine but people as a collective can be just plain foolish.. |
you dont get it do you? what have i got for what ive put in? its comparable to paying to sleep with a overweight sweaty call girl, and contracting herpes from her.

I was worried about the sim in the start, i'm not anymore and the reasons are very simple: 1) They have enough money to keep going with the development. I don't need them to tell me personally, i can logically deduce it from the fact that they are talking about future add-ons and seeing them hiring new people (the sound engineer). 2) They know about the bugs and they read what needs to be read. Once again, i don't need them to tell me personally because i can see things getting fixed in the patches. If things get fixed it means they either spotted the bugs themselves or they read our bug reports. In any case, the end result is the same and it's to my benefit. I don't need them to tell me about each and every bit they are working on as long as they keep fixing things. In other words, if someone is too lazy to make a couple of logical deductions and get a feel of how the forum operates so that one knows where to look for information, then that person is beyond receiving any help anyway and functions like a forum time sink. That's the polite way to say they are wasting everyone else's time. I stand by this and consider it true because it's not about complaining (they have every right to do it), it's about how they do their complaining that's making their valid concerns turn into a waste of time. Sorry, just calling it the way is see it. |
Quote:
I can also deduce they are working on add-on and hiring a new sound guy...i just wonder why the aircraft modeler is working on a i-16 and isnt working on a E-4 or making the cockpit for the dornier? Or why it took till 4 months AFTER release and for it to brake, for them to work out the sound is rubbish and doesn't work? 4 months and some menu buttons dont work, loadouts in single player cant be changed on the fly on the "loadout" screen. AI still fly like F-16, stukas dogfight, whole sqds of aircraft dont react and can be shot down on their way home, wingmen crash into ground while you land. Still no CO-OPs online, servers still disconnect after a hour or so(plus the sound bug) 4 months so far Blackdog...how long should it take? how long before we can be allowed to moan and cry? 6 months, a year? 4 months and still core aspects of the sim are broken or missing. How long for you personally will it take before you get worried? So i can deduce the same things Blackdog, and iam worried now. |
Quote:
Totally agree |

Not everybody in a software team can do everything. A graphic artist doesn't program and a programmer doesn't do graphic jobs. So while one waits for the other he can do other things like stuff for add-ons and so. Many people here forget/don't know that and so they can't understand that some not so important things get fixed in patches while others don't. I hope you understand what I mean. It is not a personal attack against you or anybody here. I'am also very disapointed when bugs don't get fixed in a patch but I'am a software developer and I know hard and frustrating bug fixing can be and that it tooks sometimes longer to get them fixed. :-x |

same complaints, nothing new, in short: who cares? Sorry to have added to the "time-sink" |
