thank god they delayed this game
2 whole months!
In this short timeframe from the original release look how much has been done to improve the game! This is a godsend because if they would have launched it next week it would have killed the games chances in north america of forming a steady community. It sucks that i dont get to play it now , but if there is two months to patch of the game it should be running pretty good when it comes out , and will feel more like a complete game. Keep up the good work guys ! |
They have had 1 official patch in April and 1 official patch in May.At that rate, 1 official patch in July.
If they want to get the physical disks stamped, boxed and out to the retailers by July 19th I suspect they need to go gold by July 10th.Maybe enough time to squeeze one more official patch out by July 10th. |

What I would like to have at release in the USA is a disk that I can pop in, install and play without any Steam involvement. Not first downloading 5gb of updates to get the game up to speed. I already found a solution around steam for the Russian version I bought and there is no way I'm going to ploink down $50 bucks only to be anoyed by Steam in the games current condition. If it gets to the point where the game is 100% fixed, I will get it but not before that.
There will, at some point, be different modded versions. Messing with Steam will be a pain in the rear end. I probably installed IL2-1946 5 or 6 times in a row before I had it modded the way I wanted it. Don't see myself doing that with steam, having to download patches at a snails pace. If I can't have my cake and eat it too I'll just stick with the Russian version that plays without steam. This is really a double whammy. Unfinnished game=lots of patches=lots of waiting for steam to update game. If they published patches outside of steam via torrents or their own website it would be a lot more doable. |

Steam is a fantastic program and i used it with 1946 and a bunch of other games and have no issues modding with it. You can also turn off automatic updates. Its just smarter to have all your games in one place , you dont have to manage discs which degrade over time and CD keys which you can lose since gone are the days of actual jeweled cases. i will never understand the hate steam gets in this place |

In the case of anti-piracy it's not really effective, Steam is the most pirated platform and pirates prefer the steam version of any blockbuster game to do their thing on: they will pre-order, pre-load, crack it (since it's one method for all steam games) and have it up on torrents as much as a week before release. It's way too easy and even updates and DLC packs are circulating. As far as real benefits go, the only one is that it gets the game a bigger exposure and a better cut of the selling price for 1c. Everything else is just steam doing what anyone can do on their own anyway, which boils down to personal preference (people who like automation use it, those who like manual tinkering don't). I'm not going to lie, it works as intended (mostly) expect the fact that it resets auto-updates to on whenever i run CoD and that i really dislike being unable to roll back a patch so i have to make backups of each version and use up my hard drive space, but if i get a way to disable it and only turn it on for patching i will definitely do so. |

Some steamgames doesen,t even be installed from cd at all, all the data comes from steam, if i'm not wrong cod is just like that, you don't even install it from cd. Not sure because i bought it from steam. Actually we got many steamgames on warehouse 3 weeks |

GuiltySpark, I believe something is wrong with your programming. You of all people should know, it was the Forerunners that created the Halo array, not this guy "God".;)

Stay on topic guys- i dont want to have put up with religious arguments in a forum dedicated to a flightsim. Take your arguments elsewhere.

Then reinstall windows on both drives but keep drive D: for GAMES ONLY!! NOTHING ELSE will be installed on that drive except GAMES! no AV no FIREWALL! nothing! and then set it to performance (click START right click COMPUTER choose PROPERTIES click ADVANCED SYSTEM SETTINGS under PERFORMANCE choose SETTINGS and then check the ADJUST FOR BEST PERFORMANCE button) then you will need a boot disk unless your system is new enough that there is a splash screen that gives you the option to select "boot " device. one of the reasons i get better performance than people with same or better rigs is because i have a clean and performance tuned OS :) S! |

Heres a good link to open your mind a little. This has been know for centuries but clergy dont like people knowing this as it could cut into there attendance and profits. http://religion.blogs.cnn.com/2011/0...-scholar-says/ |
All this off-topic back and forth reminds me of the south park episodes where religion was abolished in the future, only for the people to be fighting about which version of atheism is correct with the exact same fervor displayed by religious fanatics.
Friendly tip, it's not the belief that differentiates ideologies, it's the practices. I can claim to be anti-anything, but if i follow their methods i just become one of them. Just another part of the the daily dose of mirth and hilarity we've come to expect and cherish in these boards :-P |
