My first movie attempt... (1080p youtube vid, Spit vs. Me-110s)

I suck almost as badly at movie-making as at flying, so bear with me... :)

Notes:
The graphics were much smoother in-game.
The engine is somewhat badly recorded in the track, it ran much better during the actual flight.
On start-up there were nice flames from the exhaust stack, but they weren't recorded.

Do crank it up to 1080p full-screen if you can, it is much better like that, if a bit jaggy.

Comments very welcome!

I actually had the video dl and had left the forums by the time I got to watching it. I got to say, your commentary made the video very entertaining! What alone would of been an average video, kinda really got me on your side and I was rooting for ya. Although you might need glasses when you lost him because I was standing up and yelling- HES RIGHT THERE SHOOT THE BASTERD!!! ;)

You know I can forgive almost anything, the bugs, the stutters, etc, etc, even the fact that I can't play it (mostly because Steam has stuffed up my account and cant seem to be bothered to fix it)
But I can't forgive those atrocious sounds, I recently dumped a twenty year old lawnmower that sounded streets in front of that Spitty, that noise is a travesty.
Ibis.

Very Nice.

What are your system specs and video settings?

LcSummers 04-21-2011 12:43 PM

Nice video with good comments.;)

Freycinet 04-21-2011 12:47 PM

Sys specs:

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz
Memory (RAM) 6.00 GB
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580
Gaming graphics 4095 MB Total available graphics memory
Windows 7 Home Premium
SSD hard disk

Running the sim smoothly at generally the highest settings, 1920x1080 60Hz.

Due to the youtube-videofication the vid looks much more jaggy and much less smooth than it runs in real life. You should see the 4.49 GB raw video file, it is great looking!

Bf110 not Me110

Because it was built before Bayerische Flugzeugwerke became Messerschmitt AG in July 1938, the Bf 110 was never officially given the designation Me 110.

You know, the RLM had to keep releasing that very same memo because the reports kept coming in referring to the Bfs (109 and 110) as Mes. At one point they threatened to no longer accept reports that used an inappropriate Me designation. It all came to naught, as you will probably experience, lol. I've seen a report on the 110 (about night fighting mods I think) that was published in a book where the author carefully explained that the repeated use of Me in the report was in error (the report actually kept bouncing back and forth between Bf and Me), maybe, but how do you instruct a WW2 German to be historically correct - haha.

PS I remember seeing a post war video interview with Willi where he constantly referred to his little baby as the Me109 ... now why would he do that - lol.

I put in a mix of tracers, armour-piercing, ball and incendiary. Mostly to get some nice visuals... :)

Glad some of you liked it, I might do more vids after the Easter holiday!

Re: the Me or Bf designation, I think I always read my aviation books as saying Bf-109 and Me-110, but maybe I remember it wrong... - I would like to see an authoritative source about it, if anybody has a link.

David198502 04-22-2011 03:44 PM

nice video!your comments made it really funny and the vid became a little bit more alive through them.

Here's a fairly good explanation with included documentation: http://109lair.hobbyvista.com/articles/bf-me/bf-me.htm
