I think the improvement on land objects detail and graphics are super: congratulations to Maddox Games team!

:)

Finally! We can see some nice features here: Use of co-axial guns, tanks following terrain textures. On the other hand, the tanks seem a bit close together (not spreading out except at the airfield) and the ground should probably be a bit bumpier (worsening their ability to fire on the move).

The tanks were reported to have a damage model comparable in detail to that of planes in the original Il-2. Is this true? Can they vehicles be disabled but not destroyed? That is what I'm wondering about...

Avionsdeguerre 04-15-2011 04:31 PM

So beautiful lot of details :)

T}{OR 04-15-2011 04:42 PM

Awesome. World of Tanks anyone? :)

csThor 04-15-2011 04:44 PM

And to think the decals on ground vehicles aren't working, yet. ;)

Just a little hint - apart from Panzer IV platoons (which consisted of 4 tanks) all german tank platoons of 1940 consisted of five tanks. And armored recon platoons consisted of six vehicles (two of light SdKfz 222 and one of heavy SdKfz 232).

AndyJWest 04-15-2011 04:53 PM

Wow! Impressive stuff, though sadly hardly visible to pilots. I think the tank crews could do with a little tactical training though...

csThor 04-15-2011 04:56 PM

They're already 110% better than in Il-2 1946. They can be given the order to "attack area" and spread nicely into a wedge formation. ;)

Triggaaar 04-15-2011 05:59 PM

Excellent stuff, thanks for the video

No1 Cheese 04-15-2011 06:02 PM

Bloody hell!!!! imagine what this sim has to offer.
All the whining and whinging, why cant they just think a little ahead and wait a bit longer for the sim to be as good as we all hoped it WILL be.
Brilliant Vid mate thanks.

Well you could just taxi towards the tanks and then get in real close and use your cannons on them!!

Rickusty 04-15-2011 07:34 PM

Nice one. Amazing!

I always like your videos, Biltongbru.

scissorss 04-16-2011 04:47 AM

Ltbear 04-16-2011 05:46 AM

jibo 04-16-2011 05:59 AM

they had a lot of ideas regarding the ground, saddly they had to scale down a bit the project

addman 04-16-2011 06:21 AM

Awesome!

Jotaele 04-16-2011 09:19 AM

Woooooooooooooow, it would be cool to add cameras to the missions to made prev animmaticas, so you are involved into the ground battle before combat.

Hi;

Built-in recording option do not work for me as well.

Used registered fraps version

Very basic DM's on vehicles.

Not sure if they can be disabled without being destroyed; have not experienced that:)

biltongbru, thank you for this wonderful video. It looks very fluid, FPS-wise. What are your system specs, and can you speak to the FPS you were getting (in case I missed that somewhere)?
thanks!
Flyby out

What do you use to speed up the video?I like the effect.

MiGCap 04-16-2011 05:02 PM

How cool! And what possibilities are included in the game - just great.

Thanks for the vid! :-D

It is my pleasure!

Itel Quad core 3Ghz, GTX 480, Win7 64bit

Made the movie before latest patch.

1280x720

70% of the movie was recorded real time; 30% at 1/2 speed and then corrected with video editor.

I recorded at 25 fps (normal PAL TV framerate)

I get between 25 and 30 fps and it is ok for moviemaking.

With lots of smoke and vfx the fps goes down then I record at 1/2 speed.

I use Sony Vegas video editor; very easy to speed up or slow down:)

Zorin 04-16-2011 05:30 PM

Very nice video.

Some points I notice regarding the way the game handles certain things.

1. The MGs should not be fired against any other target than humans.
2. The turret damage model is obviously missing some collision hooks that would prevent them from falling through the ground.

Agree with you but MGs can used for soft targets as well.

Still the jump in detail and graphics from 1946 is absolutely fantastic.

I only used closed armour for the movie because open armour and artillery without humans do not look good. Realistic looking human figures (like Company of Heroes) with some good AI would be fabulous and also make this a total war sim.
