Il-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover: Patch 1.00.14072 -ARIL 15
Hi everyone,
The beta patch is out. You do not have to install it unless you want to help us test it for issues. If everything is all right with the patch, the live version of it will hit steam servers late Monday night Moscow time. Before installing the patch, make sure that your game version is up to date. If you have disabled automatic updates in steam, re-enable it and allow steam to update the game to the most recent version which is 1.00.13954. The game version is shown in the lower right corner of the main interface screen. The patch will not work with an earlier version of Cliffs of Dover. Download the patch and manually extract it to your main game directory which by default is (Program Files)\Steam\steamapps\common\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover Your new game version will be 1.00.14072. This patch will later be overwritten by an automatic update. Note that while this version will allow you to play online with the older version, they are actually incompatible and you will run into issues. You do not have to report them. http://www.1cfiles.com/IL2_CliffsofD...2COD_14072.rar What to look for: 1. Please test the heck out of the new Steam Lobby. NOTE: lobby interface is not yet localized. 2. Changes in performance please report whether it’s gotten better, and if so, by how much. 3. Any graphical bugs or glitches, especially with landscape, buildings and trees. 4. Any other unforeseen glitches and bugs. PLEASE keep this thread ONLY for the discussion of the beta patch. Please do not re-report previously reported issues. Please do not use this as a Q&A thread or a flamewar thread or a feature request thread or a lamentation thread. Please keep it purely utilitarian. That’s what this beta patch is a quick way to see if it does what it should without doing something it shouldn’t. Thank you all for your support! NOTE: This is the international version of the patch. It will not work with the Russian version. If you have purchased a Russian version of the game, download this instead: http://www.1cfiles.com/IL2_CliffsofD...D_14072_ru.rar Incomplete beta patch readme (the final patch will contain more features): MULTIPLAYER * Added a new Steam Lobby feature to the Multiplayer section as an alternative to the existing server search. A lobby is a place for players to gather before joining or creating a server. The most important feature of a Lobby is that it allows one to join servers running on a non-public IP, bypassing network address translation. It will of course also allow you to send players to a public IP server just as well. When a lobby links to a public IP server, that server can be accessed both from the Lobby, or directly from the Server search. With a non-public IP, the only way to access a server is through a lobby. When running a dedicated server, the lobby host can link to it by pressing the Find Server button. Otherwise just press Play to create a new Server. [to be expanded] * Fixed certain aircraft flame and smoke effects not syncing when playing on-line and recording tracks. GRAPHICS * Further improvements to framerate in regards to the terrain engine. It will be most noticeable on machines with 4+ CPU cores. * SSAO is optional, can be toggled on the fly with a checkbox in Video Options. Turning SSAO off will slightly decrease the graphical quality of the game while improving performance. * Texture quality slider added to video options. The settings are Original (no change), High (reduced 2x), Medium (reduced 4x) and Low (reduced 8x). Lowering texture size will cause significant performance gain on lower-end machines at the expense of the graphic quality. Please not that the feature is smart enough not to downscale aircraft textures, so the most crucial components of the game will remain unaffected. AIRCRAFT * Completely removed overload assessment from carburetters. Rolls-Royce engines will now cut if overload is negative, and will not cut if it is positive. (old values were sneezing at .5G, and cut-out at .25 which we felt were dead on, but this apparently confused most of the players) * When starting in mid-air, all gyro instruments will be spinned up so you don't have to wait for AH to get in shape, as well as course setters and DI set to actual heading for you. * Reworked damage module to work dramatically faster when a plane is under heavy bullet bombardment. * Elevator trim is now set close to neutral when starting in air. * Returned the water splash when a plane plummets into the water. * The Spitfire DM will no longer occasionally ignore detached rear fuselage. * Changed WEP control feedback on Bf. 109. Rather than showing an 'On-Off' message, it now will show if it actually is switched on, and when it actually switches off. * Fixed minor Bf. 109 damage visuals. * Ju. 88 gear struts now break off gear well covers when they detach from the plane. * Fixed missing power cords in Bf. 109 and Hurricane cockpits. * Fixed visual issue with bullet holes in cockpit glass. * Fixed issue with FW. 200 radiator flaps floating on detached engines. * Fixed missing geometry on Spitfire's damaged right wing under the landing flap. * Reworked movement of the Hurricane boost cut-out pull knob. * Fixed minor Bf. 110 damage visuals. * Propellers on detached motors will now appear stalled. * New spectacular fuel storage explosions (blow up those large round cistern buildings around the map) * An invisible mental force won't raise your landing flaps on the strip after you start the engine any more. * Replaced every tachometer in every British and Italian plane with an electrical type, since some people find needle movement on the mechanical type not what they expected. * Jammed and stuck motors won't budge when flying at high speed. * Adjusted behavior of broken engines. * Doubled quantity of air in undercarriage emergency discharge containers. This makes it more likely that your emergency gear will have enough momentum to push the struts down till they lock. * Landing flaps on Bf. 110 can now be ripped off only as whole, not in halves. * Bf. 110 hydraulics pump is now driven by its right motor as it should. * Fixed a bug with carburetor backfire always causing intake damage. * New assessment causes less initial destruction to surrounding area when fuel storage explodes. * Fuel storage fires, on the contrary, will be more destructive. * Flames and heat from aerial fires will now make a plane catch fire, rather than break its parts. * Implemented new getParameter() to AiAircraft interface to allow more access to aircraft state in mission scripts. mirrors: eng: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=87VANFZS https://rapidshare.com/files/4575555...COD_14072a.rar rus: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=S9FUUZRQ https://rapidshare.com/files/4575555...D_14072_ru.rar Torrent: eng: http://www.1cfiles.com/IL2_CliffsofD...72.rar.torrent rus: http://www.1cfiles.com/IL2_CliffsofD...ru.rar.torrent |

Great news! Looking forward to it!

However, contrary to my last sentence ( ), I'm still missing some remedy for the "which heading am I going" - issue (like the old hdg bar). I hope it's just left out from the notes :) |
Thank you!!!!!

THANKS TO DEVS FOR GREAT WORK, holy moses, it's so beutiful witout stutter. Kankkis |

But anyhow. Getting the patch, I'll be submitting reports (please consider switch back to dead-on settings or at least make them optional. Some of us like realism...) |
Quote:
Give us back the complicated compass, real negative g cut out limits and mechanic gauges!!! |
first of all thanks to the dev team for your hard work:)
really appreciate it! Quote:
whereas it is really amazing that you listen so much to your community, I also think you should provide the sim how YOU, as dev team want it to be. If you wanted to have mechanical tachometers, and researched and implemeted them properly, you should leave them untouched, just because some ppl complain is no reason to provide us with electrical ones if there were none present at that time. Same as with the emergency gear air chamber: just let it be how you researched and implemeted it, because that is the way how it behaves(or how it can be simulated in the most realistic way). I mean why do you care if some folks are pissed because their gear failed.. give this gorgeous simulation that finish, that it deserves as a realistic ww2 air combat sim and successor to il2. don't make it easy because some complain. not when you yourself researched and are confident that your work is "representational" of these old machines. in fact, you should not listen to me now, too:) but I mean you sure get the point. (look at the colour saturation discussion. the majority wants it how YOU as devs made it. they just want it finished. if a tachometer bounces, because mechanical tachometers do bounce, it bounces. no need to change it:) ) kind regards, tranq:-P;) |
Quote:
Sensing some well deserved sarcasm here. I hope the requests of the faint of heart don't take realism out of the sim because they don't like how things were back then>>?? |
Slightly faster than kegetys mod here, however I'm now getting a few graphical artifacts:

Really appreciate your efforts!
|
Bloody hell guys, what have you done??
Flying above cities is now 95% stutter free with a decent FPS of 30-50 even if I increase the amount of buildings and trees to medium!!!! Fantastic job, now go ahead and buy yourselves a pint! :D PS: What's the difference between textures= medium/original? |
Quad core AMD 965 4*3,4 GHz
here: I must say a huge step forward. Its running fast. Great patch;) |
Thanks chaps, looking forward to this. Hope that Vsync is working properly now? The tears are a little annoying and I cannot get D3D over rider to work on my system. If reflected's assessment is anything to go by, we are in for a treat.
Cheers, and keep up the good work. :) |

Afraid it doesn't work for me, same as last beta, ohh well, will wait for Sunday
|
I also think that realism should not be jeopardised only because someone doesnt like the way it was in reality. The mechanical tachometers were one of the thinks I loved just because of the immersion. I didn´t see the new ones yet..I will test the patch and report
|
S!
Stutter gone or VERY minimal now, even with shadows on. Settings are more or less maxed out at 1920x1200 60Hz. Average FPS went up considerably and even more so with SSAO off. Still miss the VSync though. A step forward definitely! Regarding the "adjusted" cut-outs etc. Please do not dump down the realism. IF people want rocksteady gauges and easy FM = go back to IL-2. Keep the realism, there are more relaxed settings to use if "too hard" or not something used to with original IL-2. CoD is new breed. Ayways, the patch shows that dev team should squash bugs and add performance before new content. Helps with the future. |
On my system (see signature) the fps went up from avg. 20fps to avg. 66fps with following settings:
http://www.abload.de/thumb/settingsqpnj.jpg Unfortunately, I've still noticed "microstutters" (don't know if it was intended to be fixed with this patch) Nevertheless - it seems that you have done a very good job, thank you very much and enjoy your weekend! |

Great ! :)
|
It's running much smoother now. Getting 30+ fps over London now even with ssao and shadows turned on. The textures on the buildings and bridges don't pop until I'm right on top of them, but it's better than the alternative. Now if there was only some way I could save my weapon loadout I could actually start to play the game. The default convergence is way too far out for me. :(

One more voice to say:
1) Bravo chaps and 2) Keep the realism. |
Not sure why but the game fails to load after patching.
Get the gunsight then closes down :( Anything I can do or do I have to wait till Monday ? Adjuster |

Game runs much more better, than before.
Pros: - my fps improved 50%. - microstuttering is nearly gone - all @ maxed video details @ 1920x1080 playable for me Cons: - flashing trees - short freezes, if buildings and grass is loading - my Quad CPU works only somewhere @ IDLE (only 15% till 20% LOAD while playing) Thanks man! |

I agree, if it's real don't remove it, at least not in full realism, please... (using very nice language here! :) ) |

This is great, I'm actually starting to hope I'll be able to play this on low settings on my crappy laptop! Don't want to get my hopes too high though :)
One more vote for at least being able to have the full-realism version! Unbelievable that after 2 or 3 weeks the game has become so much faster. Absolutely fabulous job, and again I feel you guys should take this weekend off :) And all the next ones from here on out! :) |

Credit where credits due, a marked improvement and now virtually no micro stutters, fps can still drop to awkward levels over London, but it is flyable now.
I have to echo the sentiments that changing gauges and the fm to placate a few people is not the way to go. Imho, a sim has to aim for as near perfect fidelity as possible, and changing things so they are easier (at the greatest difficulty setting) or more balanced for both sides is a might odd and disappointing. However, I do understand the need for a solution so that the sim does not become marginalised due to its fidelity putting it out of reach of the majority. As a qualified pilot, it would be easy for me to demand others learn to fly and manage engines correctly to enjoy the sim at its best. However, I then think back and can remember a few awkward moments during training where I would scratch my head and need a double take, and that was with the help of qualified instructors guiding me along the way. It's perhaps a little much to expect the same from hobbyists, unless it is their want to take fidelity to its greatest extremes. Perhaps another level of abstraction could be introduced at some point in the future, allowing a more gradual shift into complete realism along the lines of the system used in rof or fsx, where the user has greater control over the level of realism. Anyway, its good to see things heading in the right direction, I shan't spend any great time with the sim until FFB is added, but that is a personal decision lead by my current hardware, as I am not particularly interested in the current workaround for using ffb sticks in game. |
Great work, mine is stutter free with all max settings at 2560x1440 fullscreen at around 45fps airborne, very smooth indeed.
I too prefer the gauges the way they were, the spitfire compass is great. |

I cannot guarantee this will help, however, doing this allowed me to bypass launcher crashes after the last beta patch. |
Just made a couple of flights and I must say that you guys have done a great deal of work here, even noticed that the buildings didn't pop up in the same way as before, much better now.
Big thank you! And looking forward to the full patch on Monday. |
I agree do not change the realism for ease of use.
Patch: Stutters are gone buildings don't pop in, flew over London and it was only the low FPS (ATI5970, Hopefully the SLI patch will boost my fps) that worried me. So I would say that the patch did exactly what it says on the tin :D. However I did notice something going on with the tress shadows.. flickering or something. BIG THANK YOU TO MADDOX GAMES. Settings http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t...9/SETTINGS.jpg |
Haven't tried the patch yet, but do the planes still bounce and jump all over the place at higher altitudes? Almost seemed like there were problems with the mixtures..
|

Thanks for the attempt though. |
The new negative g cut out sucks. You really have to push the stick downwards ... and then only the rpm drops. No misfires, no black smock, no vibration. Bring back the old engine cut out please.
|
cant get the lobby to work but graphically the game is fixed for me 45 fps on the airfield. oK Im actually flying right now. back to the gqame in Sydicate server!

I thought Luthier said that it wasn't compatible!!! |
is running very dreamy for me now on my i7 560 gtx ti with 1080p, great job guys.
+1 for the realism I'm a sim noob but leave the planes as realistic as possible |
Over towns/cities I get about 1/4th of the FPS I got pre patch (non modded). All settings identical but SSAO off.
Also changing the buildings ammount has no efect for me. I am using the free fly over Normandy mission, flying over the town/city. Intel i7-920 (clocked at 3.8GHz) HD 6970 Winfows 7 Pro 64 Bit AMD 11.4 drivers |

i opened a thread a while ago asking if the behaviour of the compass is realistic as it was a bit hard to navigate first.but after some flights i got used to it and enjoyed it.now we have a steady one:(. realism is a must!!!with all its pros and cons. at least we should have an option for it.it would be ok,in my opinion, to have settings which make everything easier, but we should not be forced to handle with an "easy to fly" but unrealistic aircraft. give us back the realism. enough whining for today for me. the patch worked wonders on my rig!no stutters anymore.i changed my resolution from the lowest to highest.have original textures and ssao on.steady 20fps over land and cities.but i havent tried london yet. what i positively recognized is that the building pop up seems to be much improved.its not so obvious anymore and the buildings are already visible from a further distance.(i have buildings amount on minimum)also the stuttering is gone when flying very close to buildings!nice! the water splashes are back and work without fps drop! but the AI beaufighters roll like F16s now.dont know how it is with other planes all in all great patch!! but give us back realsim please. my specs: -Mainboard S1156 INTEL DH55TC,Micro-ATX,bulk -Prozessor INTEL Core i5-650,3,2GHz,LGA1156,Dual-Core,Boxed -2x 2GB DDR3 RAM,1333MHz,CL9,KINGSTON ValueRAM -PCI-E 2.1 SAPPHIRE Radeon HD5570,Lite Retail,Low Profile -Windows 7Home Premium 64Bit |
Good Job! FPS Double
Hi Ilya!
Very Good! Tested one of our Third Party Campaign Missions with about 64 AC in Combat. Having at 4.000 Meters 76 FPS in Cockpit on Medium settings! Excellent Job! Now we need a user friendly FMB like in old IL2 and the world is perfect  A Userinterface for Campaign, as we wrote you, with Promotion and Medal System and the Engine is going to be a useable game ;) Cheers and Thanks Thomas |

If people don't like real neg G cutouts then they should learn to wing over and deal with it like pilots of the era had too.
Please - don't dumb down the sim for plebs, just resolve performance issues with the graphics engine and make it as accurate to the era as possible. For the rest - folks will just have to learn. This isn't Locked On you know. :) |

Stutters are completely gone, so we're getting there.
Unfortunately though, input lag is still pretty noticeable (even at 40+ fps) and my GPU still runs at idle clocks unless forced into an overclock via CCC. i7 930 @ 3.6GHz 6GB DDR3 @ 1600 Radeon 6950 2GB (x2), Cat 11.3 |

Very satisfied for now! Very high FPS over sea, playable over land. Only I think AA doesn't work.
|
thanks luthier, download
|
Radio commands still not fixed. BIG disappointment as it is ruins the single player.
|
Nice 21 fps increase in average on my bench track - very good (can't directly compare it to previous graphs as I'm fiddling around with the cpu OC right now and only running at 4ghz to see how low I can get the volts for a stable 4Ghz OC - will switch back to 4.7 later and try again . Not had time to check anything else yet but looking good :-)

Hmm, when I try to pack out the rar in the games folder I get lots of errors saying "cannot delete output file".... - And the version number is not the new one when I start up. What am I doing wrong?

Nice patch. improvement in FPS
But sometimes the view went down to seat automatic also ingame comms dont work ..still cannot tell my wingman to help me or return to base... etc q8300 @ 2,5 4GB DDR2 GForce GTX 570 Saitek X45 Win7 Home Premium |

I have tried emptying the cache and shaders in the doc's folder but no joy. Any ideas please?? |

Thank you 1C, thank you for your efforts, your patience, your dedication
minimal stutters riding the settings I was currently using and trying out some other settings, SSAO off, (it is 03:00 here in Oz +10hrs UTC) and realised I had left the EF on (D'oh!) then the reduced stutters just over low buildings/ low detail reduced even further. Was it a late night thing, but AA seemed to been working better? my 980x is happy to be getting a feed (PAM is commented out in config) and the whole user menu pages seem snappier to use. vga still maxed out and used 1200Meg of the 1500 |
7Hi,
Hardware Phenom 4 cores 4 Gb, Nvidia GTX260, Win7(64) Trying Hurricane & Spitfire Edit 16/04/2011 1045 zulu time (marked m) * Frame rate much nicer both SSAO on and off with high graphic level (~15 fps with, ~20 fps without) * Would lag/shake every second like if resynchronizing the frames to actual game situation * Following bug apears when elevator trim is attached to a proportionnal axis and disappears when trim reattached to a key : radiator, throttle and pitch use to get locked in their position, seems gear and flaps get unresponsive too, engine off will not react either, without any apparent reason * Grey square on the screen at map location, would never disappear * Artificial horizon fails to remain horizontal in certain circumstances and would become shifted * No way to set-up a quick mission with startup from the ground * Planes control (elevator rudder & bank) are a bit late compared to joystick (too much late for planes with fast control & roll rate such as spit and 109) * Firing is too much delayed from the joystick button * No crash against trees * Spitfire : the engine would constantly have instant freezes above 9 kft (same effect as instants of negative G) * Spitfire : no gun tracers * Turning the head with mouse, the speed (turn rate) would be limited but continuing for few degrees after mouse move has stopped (mouse move memory effect) |
frustrating, It doesn't unpack correctly.... - just gives me a lot of error codes "cannot delete output file"...
I am using 7zip, updating the right version of the sim, i'm stumped... |
Fps increased over london really nice. However there is something strange going on, maybe because it is a beta patch but lots of the buildings in london look like squares.. like "lego blocks". Usually buildings that are a bit more far away, but sometimes even the ones that you are on top of. It kind of kills the immersion for me.. I have Radeon 6970.
|
I thought I'd post my findings on the 14072 beta patch so far in comparison to the 13954 patch.
On the ground with the 13954 patch; fps:32 avg:33 max:46 min:14 On the ground with the 14072 beta patch (with only SSAO turned off); fps:33 avg:45 max:46 min:33 In the air at 10,000ft with the 13954 patch; fps:20 avg:33 max:98 min:0 In the air at 10,000ft with the 14072 beta patch (with only SSAO turned off); fps:58 avg:45 max:115 min:0 There were far fewer stutters so the game felt a lot smoother to me, on the downside I still have building\town shimmering but it could be caused by my settings. I'm going to continue with my small test and tweak the graphical settings some more. Here's my system specs and settings: Intel i7 920 Gigabyte EX58-UD3R Corsair 6 GHz DDR3 Nvidia GTX 275 896 MB Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/7...ettings154.jpg |
wow transformation, it runs 300% better, fantastic, this is how it should have been, graphics looking great and running smooth as silk apart from reduced frames over full London, but all i can say is thanks im now really enjoying the game.:):):)

Real good job
Ok guys a big pat on the back for you all.....:)
Without selecting SSAO ( Ihad mod installed b4) FPS has increased by 50 percent than b4 inc the mod activated.. I benchmarked 3 different quick missions and the first training mission all have same result. London is very flyable Also my six core is now running all cores for the game I set trees and buildings and shading to medium I will now and try these on a higher setting but overall. A blooming good job chaps Keep up the good work |
Great to see some work done !!! and fast
I'm testing something about the textures in the new patch and the one from kegetys.. Placing lower setting in the new patch make the texture pretty wash at lower or medium settings out but ........ I think i'm getting a great result by mixing the texture mod of kegetys with the new patch.. i mean i do have the same FPS but with a better texture detail with kegetys's .. Try plz and compare ! I maybe just umaginating this morning! Need my coffee! ;) Anyway this is a great path for teh Sim as long as they keep the realism ( for the realism setting ) Next step will be the awaited SLI patch ! |
Really good job team!
I got With last patch 50-60 FPS inland... I look forward for improve with new patch!!! But... Keep please the realism... almost as an option... PLEASE!!! |
Okay, I'm getting some isolated CTDs when I try to view some enemy ground object (i.e. one of the Radar installations in some of the QMB missions) as well as when I try to place a ground object via STRG+left click in the FMB. It's not easily reproducable, perhaps it was connected to the sound setup manipulation I made with my SoundBlaster software, dunno. (Was listening to BoB soundtrack while playing ;) )
|
Apart from a great improvement:
1: getting quite a lot of CTDs :( 2: enemy AI 109s now roll about twice as fast as the plane should! they do CRAZY rolling maneuvers, like in the movie Pearl Harbor! |
