Dear russian fellows..

Please help a brother in need!

The developers confirmed they'll fix the fps problem caused by the epilepsy filter.. yet..

I do not want to play the butchered western/UBI version of this game, because they'll solve the problem at the cost of removing all the potential seizure causing things from the game, one by one:
- the propellers arc (removed or replaced with a clean trans lucid one)
- debris/flying parts from mopped up airplanes
- flashes/explosions
and so on..

You would not want to play a game like that, and I do not want it neither.

As far as I understood, Luthier said they'll completly remove anything related with the epilepsy filter from the 1C's russian version of the game, so, I ask you..

I want to buy the real game, can someone from you help me with buying the russian version of IL2 CoD (a downloadable version would be just fine), please?

Thank you,
Dan Antonescu

major_setback 03-25-2011 08:49 PM

I don'y have it for you at the moment, but will be happy to sell it to you.
Also: would you be interested in a Toyota Ventris. Only 5 years old. Will seel for only 350 Euoro. No questions askt.

Dobrai vecher.

adonys 03-25-2011 09:19 PM

Just the russian Il2 COD please, nothing else. And it's "Dobre vecher" :P

So, anyone, please?

WeReLex 03-25-2011 09:33 PM

Just "dobroi nochi" now... :)
Downloadable russian version - no problem. Write in google: "купить ил2 битва за британию"...
Just to do with an activation key? Western key won't approach use for russian version... And russian key won't approach for use in European countries...

adonys 03-26-2011 08:35 AM

I've bought the russian version by myself (yuplay), thank you!

MadBlaster 03-26-2011 08:49 AM

If you don't live in russia, how will this work? You need steam to activate. Won't steam know that you don't live in russia? What about patching? Steam tries to patch e.g., english patch to russian game? That's not gonna work. Please clarify your logic. Thanks.

I've already contacted the calendar girl for an intensive, full-immersion, Russian course in Moscow, I'm confident that after a couple of nights ... Errr weeks with her I will master the language enough to play the Russian version... :)

MadBlaster 03-26-2011 09:10 AM

That sounds promising. I may end up doing that too. It would be nice if you could modify the language files for english.

I've created another clean Steam account (while being in UK), on which I've registred it using the serial code I've bought from Russia. The game registered ok, downloaded and updates ok, and also started.

so you can play it now???

MadBlaster 03-26-2011 09:24 AM

I go to yuplay and it doesn't even show cliffs of dover. I don't get it. Maybe yuplay is blocking my region (U.S.).

I will hold off from buying it until you tell us you've got it playing in english.

Thanks,

MadBlaster 03-26-2011 09:49 AM

Yes. I need to know how to make russian letters with my keyboard to put into the russian search engine. And since I don't know russian...well you see the difficulty here!

edit
well i guess i can us google translator.

edit 2
found it, but have no idea how I would pay for this. its russian money. is it rubles?

edit 3
wow, if i have this correct. list price shows 395 rubles is only $14!! better double check that again.

edit 4
link to cod russian http://translate.google.com/translat...F%2529&act=url

David198502 03-26-2011 09:50 AM

if it really works, i dont understand why all the people are willing to wait at least another week to get their hands on, especially with this f..ing non removable filter in it.

palvas 03-26-2011 09:54 AM

oh my god!!! Please, tell us if it's possible to switch the game in english!!! :-P

David198502 03-26-2011 09:56 AM

im on the side now but dont know how to buy

BobTuck 03-26-2011 09:58 AM

I would imagine if you pay using credit card, it gets converted automatically from rubles to your currency.

By the sounds of things Adonys has already got it playing in english, in a secondary steam account.

I've got a real urge to jump in myself!

BobTuck.

David198502 03-26-2011 10:00 AM

well i dont have a steam account yet.so i would really appreciate a step by step tutorial to buy this and make it work!

BobTuck 03-26-2011 10:06 AM

This is where to download the steam software you need:

http://store.steampowered.com/

After that, I think you get prompted to creat a new account

David198502 03-26-2011 10:11 AM

thx!so do i have to register in a special way to trick steam to get the russian version working?

You can get it only if you are located in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus Republic, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Moldavia, Russian Federation, Tadjikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan. If you are located outside of these countries, please click button "Cancel".
Hmmm so what happens if we hit "Ok" anyway?

MadBlaster 03-26-2011 10:17 AM

Stuck. i double click on the "buy 395.08" tab and nothing happens.

edit
I move my mouse cursor over the tab and it changes like it is going to work, then I double click and nothing happens. I tried reloading page...etc. do I need to register or have steam installed?

Extreme_One 03-26-2011 10:25 AM

Crikey, every time I try and enter my CC details I get a "404 Not Found."

Think I'll have to stick to my Steam pre-order.

Pretty sure there will be a way for us to be able to convert our install to the Russian game version in time anyway. ;)

MadBlaster 03-26-2011 10:25 AM

If anyone from U.S. has success doing this, please post. I seemed to be blocked. Thanks.

Sauf 03-26-2011 10:36 AM

Maybe they dont recognise our banks? Adonys is from Romania I think, oh well was worth a shot.

Interesting to see the game rating on that site,
32 ppl = 5 stars
3 ppl = 4 stars
3 ppl = 1 star
So cant be all doom and gloom. (touch wood)

BobTuck 03-26-2011 10:38 AM

Yeah, the CC details messed up for me too :(

David198502 03-26-2011 10:38 AM

i doubt that it really works.would just be too good to be true.the clean version without filter and before official release in the west.

Jarsalla 03-26-2011 10:39 AM

I also got to the point where you need to tell you CC information. I don't dare to proceed. Those that are getting 404 error or something, are you sure aren't trying to order through the translated link? That might be a problem.

HINT!!
The site can be translated also by selecting english from a drop down menu in the upper right corner of yuplay.ru website. It's located next to the download yuplay client link! No need to use external translator!

palvas 03-26-2011 10:41 AM

Please,we need more confirmations before doing this.!!!
I'm one step before confirming the order: tell me if the game menu is switchable in english, how set steam properly as a russian account (it's enough to set the language in russian ? )

AND MORE IMPORTANT THING: a friend told me that there is an high risk that steam ban both your accounts. Can you confirm this ????

Sauf 03-26-2011 10:44 AM

What country are you from Palvas? It accepted your cc details?

Still getting the 404 errors when using the in-built translator.

i got to the point where it allowed me to enter my credit card details, but then it wanted a small test amount to check my account (2$), but that check failed and it locked my account!

David198502 03-26-2011 10:47 AM

so adonys tell us how it worked please!

LegTaste 03-26-2011 10:49 AM

Is there a Russian version of steam?

If so buying the steam version will be quite easy, subscribe to a vpn service that has russian servers (you should be able to just buy a week for a small amount), log into steam and you will see steam as the russians would even with your normal account.

It works for UK steam accounts accessed through a US server, gets you the cheaper prices.

Update:

Looks like the hidemyass VPN will do and can be purchased for cheap.

Just need people to confirm if cliffs of dover can be bought from steam when access from russia, then we're good to go.

Ok,but,as I said: it's a safe procedure ? Is there a risk of ban ? When i put the CC info,i put italy of course.I don't want to spend XXX rubles for playng 10 minutes of COD,thx.

adonys 03-26-2011 10:56 AM

I am a romanian, my cc is a romanian one from BRD bank, which is a french bank (Societe Generale), and it is a Mastercard.

I did all of this from London, UK (where I am atm).

1) I've bought the game from the russian yuplay site. I can confirm it was 14.something (under 15) USD, and another 1.6 USD the security payment.

I've used google translate (even if I know how to read russian, I don't understand all the words, it was a loong time ago when I was studying russian in highschool). You need an yuplay account to buy, just set up one (I've already had one on yuplay.com, from buying WoP on Steam as it was required, and it worked on yuplay.ru too)

I've browsed to the game, pressed the Buy (in russian) button, then went to checkout.

I've selected the VISA/MASTERCARD payment option, then I've added my cc details.

Then I've pressed buy.

As it is the first time I've added that cc on my acount, they've did a security payment from it, and asked me to check my bank account and enter the amount taken from them in that security payment. For me, it was 1.6 USD

All of this I did last night. I couldn't confirm the security amount, as my bank's online application wouldn't show recent transactions (it can take even 3 days to update)

This morning I've called the bank, and they've confirmed there were two payments made from y account to yuplay, the security one in amount of 1.6 USD, and the game's payment in 14.something USD amount.

After I've confirmed the security amount (1.6 USD for me), the trasaction was made, and I've received an email with the game's serial.

I've made a normal new account (from my UK appartment, using Steam app, marking it's country ass Romania), and then registered the serial on it (which appears as IL2 CoD russian retail, app 63650), then I've downloaded it, and started it.

All the text is in russian, but you can manage if you can read russian, or have a look at the english menu screenshots Oleg released a while ago in some updates. All the sounds are in english (radio chatter, etc).

PS: do NOT try to buy it through Steam, even if you'll use a VPN and a russian IP/russian Steam (by adding a ?cc=RU at the end of the application's link), your cc will not be russian, and you will not be allowed to buy it.

PPS: the game runs horribly for me, but well then, I am on a rather crappy laptop (Intel Core2 Duo 330M 2.13 GHz 1066 MHz, ATI Mobility Radeon 5470 500 MB VRAM, 4 GB DDR2 RAM, 5400 rotations HDD), with everythingset on medium I think. I'll start thinkering the video settings as soon as you guys let me :P

Flanker15 03-26-2011 10:58 AM

There's another way to buy the Russian release on steam just have someone who can buy the Russian version (e.g. a Russian) to gift you the game on steam. Of course you'll need someone who can buy the Russian version first.
The version you gift is the version you buy regardless of where it's being sent too.
Important thing to note is a game with one steamID can't play with another steamID game using steamworks so if you buy the Russian version you can't play against Ubi versions, it will missmatch.
This has been used for many steam games (usually to circumvent censorship) and if it doesn't work with this one I'd be shocked.

You should probably wait until the game comes out first though, I still have faith that the devs won't let us down.

LegTaste 03-26-2011 11:02 AM

is russian hard to learn?

I see myself doing that before i buy a fucked version of the game.

palvas 03-26-2011 11:07 AM

Well,if the game menu is still in Russian, sorry for me ,but i'll go (maybe) with West version.I cannot afford a game sim in a language that i can't read at all: briefings, menu, settings, keys. And still,we don't know if it steam allows this strange procedure.Maybe not now,but in a week our fakeaccounts could be banished.

that's why I've setup a new id for it, I've not added it to my main Steam account, but to a new one.

Well, Luthier said more than a couple of times that UBI international version will have the permanent (as in not optional) epilepsy preventing modifications (be them the epilepsy filter, or the tinkered graphics) no matter what. Is not about them, is about UBI's policy and the contract they've signed.

I'm confident we'll find out how to turn on/force the english menu in the russian version pretty soon.

The account can not be banned, as there is nothing illegal in there. As someone said above, getting Steam games gifted from other countries is actually an official mechanism incorporated in Steam, and it works ok.

norulz 03-26-2011 11:13 AM

I do confirm it

It works at least till I get the application downloader and getting the serial in my mail (that's the step I am at)

I use ING bank and the home banking updates immediately so I've seen the "test" transaction instantly but... the transaction came in Romanian Currency so I had to cross finger that the convertor from RON to USD gave the same sum they expected... it did so the page switched from showing the price to showing the download links.

I have a steam account made here in Romania so I think it will work.

I'll post back.

OK... steam accepted the serial and now is downloading... although atm it says download paused... maybe it's doing maintenance or something...

adonys I'll contact you on PM... on our common language :)

adonys 03-26-2011 11:16 AM

Guys, just make sure you're adding the serial to a new sepparate Steam account made specially for this, to prevent messing up your main Steam account just in case (which should also allow you to eventually add the UBI version ot it, if UBI will ever provide an option for the ep filter, and won't damage the game graphics to pull the ep filter out).

You don't need that, just add the serial to the new Steam account, and you cna start download directly through Steam

My bank account displayed the transaction in the original currency it was made too, so it was simple for me.

@adyon
Well, receiving it as a gift is a thing, creating a fake account with fake infos is another one and in a forum told me you can't do this.

Well, when you (you as community) will be able to force english lang. and we all have the confirmation that it's a perfectly safe procedure also from other users, maybe i'll give it another chance :) Thanks anyway for your idea, hope this will work perfectly in the future!!;)

you don't need any fake account, or fill it with fake info, to do this. it is perfectly legal to have more than one Steam accounts, and it's perfectly legal to add games from no matter what country to it.

I've opted to add the serial to a new account exactly to allow my main account still have a chance to get the english version if UBI will step back and offer the ep preventing measure as an option.

also, there won't be any other community, the il2 russian players can play with western il2, and viceversa.

palvas 03-26-2011 11:25 AM

It sounds to me like if you ever want to play a russian, you have to do this. For only $14, I probably will. but not now, my eyes are tired. I feel a epi-spaz coming on from staring at this forum all day.

Fansadox 03-26-2011 11:59 AM

This all sounds very nice but i wont be buying it before we can translate it to English. I made this mistake before by buying DCS Blackshark in Russian and even though you could change the settings file and translate about half the game into English it was still unplayeble.

This should be a lesson in why they shouldn't have chosen ubisoft

|ZUTI| 03-26-2011 12:58 PM

Well, I just acquired the serial myself. Will have to install steam and that crap, but everything went smooth. The only problem that I had was the fact that from my mastercard account, the amount was in € so I had to recalculate that to $ in order to get the serial. :)

10€, come on. 10€... Even if I chucked that away... it's 10€. I will survive. Thanks adonys for the heads up.

PS: Oh, I also did this because from my understanding, that filter will be non-toggable for the west. If it will be toggable, even better. I don't mind.

what do you mean with recalculate??doesnt the bank do that automatically??

|ZUTI| 03-26-2011 01:10 PM

The "problem" is that yoplay site requires the amount that was taken from your account in $, but my account on ma e-bank showed the amount in €. That was the "problem".

Anyhow, installed steam to my D driver, entered the serial and is downloading it. At 250kbps. The max that my shitty connection can have. All good so far.

Sauf 03-26-2011 01:12 PM

Think when ive had a bit of sleep I'll get this version aswell, at least then I will have the ORIGINAL cod to compare the western release to. Never know, it might become a collectors piece, and its to cheap to pass up.

I'll also be able to belittle future generations, "when i was your age we used to play real mens games, not the crap you bunch of sun starved epileptic sponge muscled nancy boys fool around with!"

|ZUTI| 03-26-2011 01:22 PM

"Educated" guess. The amount was 0.99€. Then I looked at the rate between € and US. Multiplied and rounded UP. It was original 1.38€ I think, so that made 1.4$. Entered that and it went through. I figured that it was one one decimal place from what adonys posted. And the amount on yuplay site is for the game. This amount that I am talking on is a "security" amount. Or something like that. Just to verify the buyer, I guess.

fruitbat: I will. It will take some time to download, but I will.

fruitbat 03-26-2011 01:28 PM

cheers mate:cool:

palvas 03-26-2011 01:33 PM

Lol,i made a stupid thing. I put twice the wrong $ amount and my account on yuplay.ru is frozen.
Suggestions ? Making a new account ?

LegTaste 03-26-2011 01:34 PM

we should have a game menu translation thread, where with the help of russian speakers translate screenshots so we know what we're doing when playing the game

Edit:

Actually people like me can just forget the game, i never mastered or even came close to being any good at il2, no chance learning with a russian version.

I'm just going to start from today, pretending this game doesn't exist.

Triggaaar 03-26-2011 01:54 PM

What game?

i got doomed because of their stupid security amount check

ive sent them an email:evil:

Just to confirm - the Yuplay / new steam account method works for me. (Peterborough - UK) Download finished 20 minutes ago through steam, and have managed a couple of flights. The russian menus are extremely difficult to navigate though.

Let me know if you have success and if they block your account or the credit card number (it would be useless to create a new account).

I didnt specify which country for the new steam account - It doesnt ask

highness 03-26-2011 04:28 PM

ok! i have SUCCESSFULLY activated my russian version of il-2 purchased from yuplay.ru in my existing STEAM account, and it started downloading it now!

I was using a visa debit card i have with my US Chase account, and the transactions are being updated in real time on your account when you log in on chase.com, thats how i could confirm that stupid security amount check with yuplay.ru nearly instantly!

idk.. that's why i asked you.

trying to navigate through all that russian seems a bit too much of a hassle to me.

adonys 03-26-2011 04:50 PM

guys, again, if you'll add the IL2 CoD russian 1C version to a Steam account, you CAN'T have any other version of the IL2 CoD added to that account.

that's why it would be better to add it to a secondary/new Steam account, and not to your main.

the updates will be normally made through Steam, as with any Steam game. And, of course, they will be the russian version updates.

SG1_Lud 03-26-2011 05:57 PM

Here is how I passed the security check:

Noted down the price of the sim in $ : 14.41 usd
Continued all the proccess of buying with credit card.
Noted down the final price charged in euros: 10.63 euros

Calculated the exchange rate used: 14.41/10.63 = 1.3555

Took the security amount charged (1,06 euros) multiplied by the exchabge rate calculated before: 1,06 x 1.3555 = 1.4363

Rounded up to 1.44 and success.

Important to use a dot as decimal separator (instead of a comma)

Good luck!

nice, but risky!

i was lucky to have 2 different creditcards though.. one got doomed the first time when i tried to fool the security check, had to do it with the second one.

actually is less risky than the way I did it the first time :) that was looking for the exchange rate in the internet. The only problem was to guess if I had to round up to one decimal like Zuti suggested or two. In my case I needed two decimals.

Now , downloading. Can I count on you mate to figure where I will have to click to enter the sim ? :D

David198502 03-26-2011 06:10 PM

well i just messed up!it was my second try and 1.44 didnt work either!

Sorry to hear that mate.

You have to do the maths. In my case was 1.44 but that will not be the same for everyone.

i dont get it!souldnt it be the same for me?the price and the rate between euros and dollars is the same.

BigPickle 03-26-2011 06:29 PM

They said the filter was temporary untill they create a proper fix that put the game back how the game was ment to be features wise, they arnt gonna leave the game be without all the major features missing.
Think about how it would effect multiplayer if the Russian version had a load of advantages over the rest of the world, like being able to see when you have hit the enemy aircraft.
In time guys all will be fine.

|ZUTI| 03-26-2011 06:30 PM

Well, got the game. Did fiddle settings via conf.ini... started her up and well, sideshows :D But did not change that much ATM, no time. And got me cyrilics alphabet :D

Oh, and there is no trace of dedicated server anywhere. That was said to be included in the original release too. Guess not :)

PS: Sideshows with antiepileptic filter disabled in conf.ini

.... but NOT the security amount that was charged into your account. In every case this amount is different.

Beside that, I cannot assure that the exchange ratio is the same. Should be, but....

Again, is safer to do the maths!

Downloading here... yuplay.ru gave me a warning about not being able to activate outside Russia and CIS, but the game activated fine in Steam.

One drawback, is that it seems that the game is going to be installed where steam is installed. I guess that if I want a dedicated hard disk for COD, I will need to move the steam account to that drive before.
