Ich kann nicht Deutsch lesen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
pitty you won the war ;)
the CEM , the workload to prepare a bombrun , amazing !! just not nice "only" the Spit, Hurri, 109 and 87 are mentioned more detailed in the manual. the FMB possibilities :) UBI or 1C realy should make this Manual available for download in every language before release !! |
This game will ROCK!! Just took a brief look at the manual... you can even tighten/loosen your shoulder belt... I just hope my lappy will cope on medium settings! :-) Oh, and there are actually four Spitfire variants in game :-D |

I don't like this one bit and demand an English version, the Hun are gaining valuable intel and we are being left behind! |
LOL hahahahaaa:grin::grin:
Ah what a great moment. On a serious note though, lots of pilots in my unit want me to translate it for them, well I'm not really looking forward to translate all of that, what a load of information phew... So I hope the English one comes soon or they'll eat me alive! |
They should do what Paradox does and release the manual behind a private forum that you can only use your game code to get in. Stops the pirates getting the manual.
|
"Einige Spieler schaffen es tatsächlich schon nach wenigen Stunden in ihrer ersten Flugsimulation, unglaubliche Distanztreffer mit großem Vorhalt zu landen.
Andere, wie der Autor dieses Handbuchs, trifft immer noch keine Scheune, und das nach einem Jahrzehnt Übung und Tausenden von Flugstunden. Für alle anderen gibt es Bomber." (page 99) I think I'll need a bomber... |
I love the manual! :D
"Unscharfe Bomben machen Platsch und nicht Peng." Page 97. lol ^^ Can't wait to get this game! |
Im reading the whole manual ast the moment and in some chapters its really funny to read. But now Im sure that this will be the ultimate Simulator;)
|
Wow! Great read!
There are also a lot of explanations about the different ammo types, basic procedures for spit , hurri, 109 and stuka. From what I read, the most important and most difficult part will be the complex engine management. It's simple: The realistic setting in il2 1946 is as complex as the arcade setting in cod. And finaly there is water and oil temperature. Not just something called "engine overheat". Full real will be so much fun! :) |

German to English translation from the German instruction manual: Quote:
If steam is a requirement as per the instruction manual, then retail will activate on Steam which is great news. |
Translated into English using google translate, no pictures included so if you wanna see them you will need to have the german one open along side it. The translation is'nt the best but I suspect it's more understandable if you dont know german :-P

flying a Spit or Hurri with a CSP will be childs play :D just dont load tracers in all your guns...its NOT recommended for framerate in the manual :D |
I just finished reading.
Bloody hell, there's a lot coming! |
its like all the things the community was wishing for and a whole lot more we didnt even think of. im reading it and gobsmacked.
now full real dogfights will have so much CEM and weather that might render your aircraft inoperable too, that will totally liven it up and people will need to specialise in a certain aircraft, i love that!!! |
" Cliffs of Dover benutzt Steam, um Spielpartner zu finden. Sie können aber
auch ohne Steam spielen, wenn Sie im LAN spielen oder manuell eine Server- IP eingeben. Für frühere IL2-Spiele haben außerdem Fans externe Programme zum Finden von Spielpartnern geschrieben. Es ist möglich, dass einige davon auch Cliffs of Dover unterstützen, oder dass neue erstellt werden." So you do not have to have steam for certain aspects of the MP part, like direct IP connecting, and older programs made for IL2 do not necessary have to be remade. This however does not mean that you can start CoD without Steam, that's not what it says. |

Thanks Werelex top man!!!. Hey have you had the chance to play it yet ? hows the FPS?
|
Thanks for the uploads Werelex, much appreciated
I've been going through the text file of the translated German manual someone linked a few posts back (thank you too, it's understandably a bit rough but i can still get 99% of what it says) and they have included some very nice features. Apparently, we'll be able fly radio guided blind bombing raids in Luftwaffe bombers among other things. A whole lot of other things. This manual is a gold-mine for one reason alone, it provides some much needed insight into the actual scope of the game and will maybe help some people regain focus on what is actually the core purpose of this game. I can wait until they patch away the bugs, i can wait for an alternative server browser and i can wait for all the DX11 goodies, because these are all things that can be patched and brought up to date. However, the core gameplay mechanics of the engine can't. You either get them right from the get go or they stay problematic forever and this is why i'm glad they focused on exactly this field the most: it's equally critical for the longevity of the sim to many other aspects, but mistakes are harder to reverse in the future. Everyone who hasn't taken a look yet, do yourself a favor and read the manual. There's a fundamental departure from the usual philosophy of prop-era combat sims, this one seems like a very balanced cross-over between IL2, civilian sims and study sims all rolled into one. The way the interface works, how the same controls have a different function depending on the aircraft you fly and its particular systems, the need to not only fly but also operate the aircraft when flying full switch, everything so far screams "almost study-sim quality for a dozen separate flyables instead of just one". |

So you're going to sign in to Steam to start the game (as detailed in the manual 'Launching the Game') and then not use the in-game browser so you don't use Steam?

To answer your question, unless steam is required for activation i have no reason to use it. The linked manual is contradicting previous information on the issue so i can't really know how it will play out. As long as we're talking about a boxed edition, up till now we knew that Steam is not needed for activation but is used for matchmaking optionally. The manual states that it's needed to be installed before the game installation starts (while making no mention as to why, it doesn't state anything about activation or DRM for example, maybe it's just a rudimentary check) but again, it's optional for multiplayer. Chapter "Playing the Game - Multiplayer", top of page 101: Quote:
EDIT: For all we know, the manual could be applicable to the digital download edition. If you look at the bottom of each page, you'll see a small piece of text: "IL2CoD_PC_MANUAL_UK.indd" followed by the page number. If that's the case then there is no controversy at all, since DD editions were supposed to activate via Steam, it's the boxed ones that were not. I don't know how or why this manual would find its way on the disc of a Russian boxed copy if at all in the first place (assuming it comes from one). Maybe they just bundled the multilingual manuals in the Russian release without too much fuss, since the only difference in the entire manual would be that little "how to install" paragraph and people in Russia wouldn't bother to read it anyway because they have one in their own language. In any case, i'll just have to wait and see until my collector's edition arrives or someone else gets it first and reports back. Since it's clear multiplayer will work with alternative methods i don't mind much even if it needs steam to install, because i can just set it to offline mode and leave it like that. |
I just focused on that because that was the bit I didn't understand about what you were saying.
Steam only goes offline for about a month, so you'll need to sign in again for that. Or there might be another edition with a different set of manuals coming too, like you said (I'm starting to have doubts though). I'm just curious, no reason really, on why people are ok to install Steam, have it run off-line as a service on their system (it runs in the background, even off-line) and then not use it to play MP with everyone else? Seems a bit masochistic :) Quote:

Judging by comments on sukhoi.ru necessary a top videocard. At the people in not above 40 FPS even on a top computer... It is possible to esteem here: http://translate.google.ru/translate...790%26page%3D1 |
"NOTE: Tracer rounds take up certain resources to render, while non-tracer rounds are only tracked in the physics model and not shown visually. Filling up your guns with lots of tracers will use up system resources. Loading only tracer rounds into every gun on something like an 8-gun Spitfire, however impressive, is not something we would recommend."
ROFL, Please someone do this loadout on a spit or Hurri... I have to see how funny this looks. |

I'm reading it now and the dedication to the art and 'love' (yes) that has gone into this shines through. It's going to be a blast. Here for the long haul. |
Cliffs of Dover in English: The Manual
Hi Guys, for those that might have missed out on the Cliffs of Dover manual that is in English. Here is the link: http://airwarfare.com/sow/index.php?...atid=20&cid=35
These guys who produced this game have shaken my faith they can produce a complete game. Meaning that no manual came with my game and like wise no keyboard layout or the ability to print out the keys that were mapped with in the game. Cutting corners to save on costs will eventually cut into sales. As I will think twice on purchasing another one of their products. I am also giving this game's roll out and ensuring a rating that is worse that the roll out of the affordable care act. |

You are too late with your review. The whole team does not work any longer, so I see no point in doing that... But as for your game, you might have a look at this thread here: http://theairtacticalassaultgroup.co...t=5058&p=52711 The game runs actually very wel with these patches! |
