The future of COD. Oleg or Luthier or Nike-it

With the speculation of Oleg leaving the team, could we have some info into what is going to happen with the future of COD?

Is the team going to carry on with support, patches and addons?

please can we leave replys for Oleg, Luthier or Nike-it and not have a free for all with everyone guessing and adding to the gossip.

cheers.

Well, according to Jason (running 777 studios producing Rise of Flight) who recently posted about this over at SimHQ - according to his source - Oleg stepped down 1.5 years ago and Ilya has been running the show since then:

http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.ph...ml#Post3243369

And as Jason previously has said Ilya is a good friend (they live close to each other in California) I guess the source is VERY close to Ilya :)

A bit weird that he posts this though, but I guess 1C will not let the lid off now the day before the release in Russia...

So, I really think that there is no "cow on the ice" as we say in Sweden :) Ilya is very competent and committed to delivering top notch sims in the same way as Oleg, who will probably stay as a senior advisor and have some role in the development. This situation is maybe even better than before... Oleg gets some deserved rest and Ilya will continue the heritage just fine!

Interesting.

Hope Ilya is still committed to SoW: Korea, this is the sim I'm waiting for more than any other for years now.

Guys, I can officially say, that the IL-2 seriers will be supported with all kind of updates and patches. More over the series will be expanded with new projects.

SG1_Gunkan 03-24-2011 07:18 AM

If the IL2: CoD is a good simulator, so open and "easy" of modding, now it's only moment to earn money. So, the main work is done already. Of course there are some bugs and tunning -like all simulators in the first version- but the central column is done.

I think that the master work of Oleg is already on IL2:CoD, and i am sure he will go back, the simulation it's like a virus, when you have it, you can't get rid of it.

But, like in my enterprise, perhaps the software director got all the cheers, but the real work is made but the singular programmers and annalists.

Wouldn't expect anything less from the best sim _ever_! :)

Hope we get to see one day in the future Il-2: Full scale ground & naval combat pack!

Well, I meant the COD and future projects, il2-1946 is supported by Daidalos Team and I'm sure will be in future.

PeterPanPan 03-24-2011 09:21 AM

This is such good news. Thanks Nike-it

Also wanted to chime in and let you guys know you can fully expect us to continue to support the product and the series.

Also, regarding Oleg's leaving game development, I believe that was a "I'm so tired of you guys" in response to a bucket of crap poured onto him in youtube comments more than anything. I don't want to speak for Oleg of course, but perhaps you should at least wait for official news before running around with your hair on fire! A man like Oleg can't just leave game development on a whim even if he wanted to! :)

csThor 03-24-2011 09:25 AM

Ilya - Good luck for the future. If you need input or help for future projects you have my email. ;)

But we like running around with our hair on fire screaming 'the sky is falling'

Gotta love luthier's sense of humor.

Thank you for posting this.

Thank you Nike-it and Luthier!

"but perhaps you should at least wait for official news before running around with your hair on fire!" - lol indeed. Your statement made the fire go away and we all can go back to live the normal life. Sky is not falling and CoD is going to be in our hands pretty soon :)

Funny, before boring everyone by posting my Corporal Jones 'Don't Panic!!!' message again yesterday for the 18th time in the last year - I was sorely tempted to go the direct route and tell everyone to stop being such a bunch of Big Girl's Blouse Bed-Wetters getting their collective knickers in a twist at the merest hint of gossip.

...but as I'd criticised someone the day before for being a bit personally insulting to me I decided to avoid the 'hypocrite' route and go for humour instead.

Anyway - great news.

David198502 03-24-2011 10:55 AM

well this news is such a relief!!!!thx for clearing that up.

Blackdog_kt 03-24-2011 01:27 PM

Luthier and Nike-it:
Very reassuring on your part, thanks for your time and putting up with all of our demands over the years, reasonable and unreasonable.

Mango 03-24-2011 01:41 PM

Still, I feel bad for Oleg. All these years of passion and dedication, and such crap from us "consumers" (face it, we're no more that that so get over it!!)
