What resolutions

Hi

Just need a quick answer on this please
we all know il-2 had a max resolution of 1024 by 768 what resolutions will COD be able to run.

Thanks in advance

I think he meant before doing any tweaking in the config

Feuerfalke 03-08-2011 04:25 PM

Maximum resolution was unlimited.

Just the side-relation was not. You could run any 4:3 resolution AFAIK.

Well, at least 1600x1200 worked with standard resolutions.

Crossfade 03-08-2011 05:37 PM

didn't know that it could go more than 1024x768 because in setup it would only go to that and no more.
so will cod go much higher as standard or will it be the same as il2 and u have to mess with config.

Btw thanks for the replys

I don't remember being restricted to 1024x768 in Il2 but it's been a few years. Later versions definitely offered higher 4:3 resolutions by default in the setup.

Anyway, I see no reason why CoD would have any resolution or aspect ratio restrictions. High-res widescreens which were still a luxury (or simply nonexistant) 10 years ago are now standard. And we've seen many in-game screenshots in 1920x1080.

I can't imagine cliffs of dover having a standard resolution of 1024 and not being able to change it in the settings. It should support all current monitor resolutions with no issues, it only makes sense considering its a current game.

easyhomewin 03-08-2011 05:44 PM

dunno about the highest but I hope the lowest is 800x600 so my laptop can run it ;)

TheGrunch 03-08-2011 05:49 PM

We've already seen screenshots in aspect ratios other than 4:3.

i've just talked the wife into letting me get a 46 inch Sony led and native res is 1920x1080 so didn't want an Epic fail when i show her the difference.
but i think your right should not be a problem.

thanks again for the reassurance :grin:

Niiice...I'd have talked a bit longer and more piteously and bagged a 1920x1200 one myself. ;)

As posted before, even IL2 had higher settings available if you had the monitor supporting it.

However, these standard-settings were limited to 4:3.

If you have a 16:9 or 16:10 you're limited to the next lower resolution available in 4:3.

As others have stated, any resolution is possible, including spanning multiple monitors.

I have no doubt that CoD will offer even more options.

BTW: I can at least tell you, that IL2 looks great on 42" 1920x1080 (FullHD)

I bet it does can't wait for cod

How did you get IL-2 to run at 1920x1080? I have a 22.5" 1920x1080 monitor and a geforce 560ti and the max resolution the program gives me is 1600x1200.

mcmatt 03-09-2011 05:23 AM

I play IL2 at 1920 x 1200. You must edit conf.ini in window block in your Il-2 root directory, which you can open in Notepad or similar. Do not forget to do backup of your original file.

[window]
width=1920
height=1200
ColourBits=32
DepthBits=24
StencilBits=8
ChangeScreenRes=1
FullScreen=1
DrawIfNotFocused=0
EnableResize=0
EnableClose=1
SaveAspect=0
Use3Renders=0

...of conf.ini in your Il-2 root directory, which you can open in Notepad or similar. Missing a rather important piece of information there, mcmatt. ;)

You're right Grunch ;) Not everybody is messing with conf.ini
