Anyone actually work in the trucking industry?
I play rig'n'roll and at the same time i work as a dispatch in a trucking company. Just want to know if there is anyone else work in trucking industry?
|
Sure. I am a real life trucker here in Norway. Have been driving for 4 years, local, district and long haul. Currently I am driving distric, home every day, but I drive fairly long distances and few deliveries. And we have really interesting roads here :D.
|
What kind of truck you drive?
|
You will find that many of us here either are, or were truckers, including myself. I had a 1985 Kenworth T600 Sleeper.
|
just wanted to know im registered at matrix forms but there are allot of people who doesnt own or had a matrix in their life (toyota matrix)

Except for motorcycles, I only bought American trucks. I think they have more flare, style, and design that depicts your personality. To me, all foreign trucks seem to look the same. If you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all. Nice thread. I decided to make it a ‘Sticky’ so everyone can view, and comment on it
|
i did seen most of them came from russia. most of them look the same but some of them look awesome check out URAL TRUCKS they dont look much but you can go pretty much everywhere with them
|
Right now I drive a Volvo FM 300. I have driven a variety of trucks, including Volvo FL, FM, FH12 and FH16, Scania P and R (including R580), Mercedes and my definite favourite, a DAF XF105 520.
I could post screenshots, I don't know if this would be an appropriate place to do that? USA Trucker: You know, some of us might want to repeat that last post of yours, except switching "American" with "European", and "foreign" with "American" ;). Hehe. |
i drove kamaz highway and dump truck back in the day that was fun

I didn’t say they didn’t look nice. Just that they look the same. Let’s move on now.;)

Nono, I didn't take it as an insult or anything, and that was not the intention of my post either. I am sure you think they look alike, and I have no problem with that, just as I assume you don't have a problem with me thinking US trucks look alike. The point is, I obviously see the difference between Euro trucks, walking among these every single day. I don't see US trucks very often, and when I do, it always looks like a US truck. I am sure you feel the same way, but opposite.
Register20: I like Russian trucks, they're pretty cool. I was in Estonia a couple of years ago, and saw Kamaz, GAZ and all the others. I wouldn't like to have to drive one daily, though :). |
VNfan: yea. but im not saying that i would drive it daily. they just look different from others they dont have much just the basics. THOSE TRUCKS LET YOU FEEL THE ROAD FUN FOR FIRST 1 - 3 HOURS
thats it no one actually works in trucking world? |
@Register20,
Please don't double post. |
Have had cdl's since 1993.
Drove over the road from 1993 till 2000 when I started driving dump trucks because i wanted more home time. |
Yeah, that seems to be the chief complaint for us married guys. When my wife was between jobs, she rode with me a lot, but when she went back to work, it put some stress on us.:(
|
mine occasionally rode with me when i would deliver my backhaul.
yea, it put a aweful stress on our marriage so i came off the road in 2000 and have never went back although with the lack of jobs in this area i may be forced to go back on the road. dump truck jobs has dried up since the grading jobs have came to a crawl around here and i havent had any luck finding anything running local. |
If you can do it before marriage, or have a spouse willing to endure the OTR schedule short term, then it’s certainly the way to go to make good money in the shortest amount of time, and view your country as a tourist.

Don`t see much of those Russian trucks here anymore, but they do still move occasionally. And if they do you can smell it a kilometer away or see the smoke. You are right about your roads, I did go to Norway with my father in summer 2010 (he hauls factory produced houses from Estonia to Norway). 110kph downhill and curves with a truck got my adrenaline pumping well :D Almost as scary as driving a bike 280kph. But to stay in topic: planning to make a career change to become a trucker. Currently a car fleet manager (full service lease). |
I was in Estonia on holidays with my family. We were to Finland, and took Tallink from Helsinki to Tallin. I can't remember when it was, but it must have been in the early 2000s. Definitely quite a few Russians there then, and that's not too lang ago..?
What company / truck does your father drive (for)? |
im a trucker i live in Little Rock Arkansas

He drives for Saue Auto (usually yellow trucks and some of them haul fish in Norway, not a big fleet, think about 50 trucks or so). Scania R480. Dual axle. |
Was a trucker
Worked 4 a company that only bought Isuzu, Toyota and Mack's. We have only one Deutz but that was a rigid. Except 4 the Mack, the others was 16 wheelers.
Only a few long distance trips were done in the 11 years I was there. But is was good and in the past 12 years I still missed the times I had there. (South Africa, Pretoria) |
