Night SIM battles, prone to cheating
Right, I was playing a SIM night match and generally flying around for like 10 mins not finding anyone YAWN!
Flying low to the ground, looking for a damn needle in a haystack la la la, lovely romantic scenic flight... Suddenly someone's on my six pounding me full of ammo. Then he did it again... and again! How the hell did he see me? :-x 'I turned the brightness on my TV right up' was the answer!!! At least he had the decency to fess up! |
He was probably using the map.
|
No need for map other than to get the general direction.
If you play at night and turn your brightness settings right up then its as good as playing in day :D |
I completely hate night battles, or battles with bad weather.
It gives a too big advantage to people with a nice screen to play on. If I do not put brightness full in a night flight, I cant even seperate ground from horizon. But full brightness looks crap, and I still dont see as much as other appearantly do :P Same for clouds, when someone puts those on, I might as well quit right away. It is just impossible to spot anything on my screen in bad visibility. Dont know if it is just me, but I find clouds create a very boring game. It becomes more luck than skill, who will spot first. And if you spotted someone.... oowwwwww there he go's up into the cloud before you can get a shot at him. such lame and boring gameplay. One time I played 3 games in normal conditions with the same people in a row. he game ended in 10-15 min because the 20 score limit was reached. After that, same people in a game with clouds. After 10 mins the score was 1-1 and the host (rightly) ended the game. HATE it when you finaly have a game with 6 or more people, and then you get in game and realise it is a night or with no clear skies. half the people leave right away, and it just sucks anyways |
you could solve the problem and play arcade like me. They'll be lit up like a christmas tree!

A scenario where its strike, but once you enter the enemies airspace, their flak cannons and spotlights pick you up, so you could see the enemies better. |

I can see it now B-17 twisting to get out of the beams, tracer and star shells rocketing sky/earthwards. |
B17 wouldnt fly at night ;) they are pussies hahaha.
Thats the job for the braver kind of guy who flew for bomber command :D get the lanc out, lets go!! This was a joke btw!! |

If you can get a lanc il have a squadrons worth please, oh mines with the grand slams mate, should make a big dent in those bunkers:grin: |

personally, i'd use a I-153, small enough to be hard to spot, maneuverable enough to turn on a six pence and get out of that spotlight. it would also make you feel more involved in the game, at the moment there is virtually no involvement with ground units, this way it would feel like your working with the ground units. what would also be good is to make the flak and spotlights destructible. |

@Sloppy
Sorry, I should've been clearer: I was talking about cloud settings, not your night with spotlight idea ;). |

 I sure hope this is the first time Morgoth mentioned me being a hurricane, else I might start doubting if Foz is talking about the plane :-|

The Hurri is like the real deal: exciting at first, but ends in disaster. |

It's so slow a Po could shoot it down by overtaking it and shooting it with its rear gunner!

P.S. @ Cyclone, sorry about majorly hijacking your thread . Forgive me? :-| |

and yeah sorry about the thread steal. |
LOL, THREAD HIJACK!
But seriously, I can't stand fighting at night either, but I do love to fly with cloud cover. Adds a whole new battle plan, and it's better for the high altitude fighters, because people will usually fight above the clouds. |

I came back to the thread and saw 3 pages of responses already, then saw topic had taken a detour of ermmm...a few hundred miles or so... :-P:-P:-P |

Problem is that it's too easy to lose someone in the clouds. This kind of rules out the need for skill to lose someone. You just dive for the clouds and you're off. I just think this is annoying.
P.S. lol @ Vulcan |

(just to make it clear, im talking about the overcast-cloud-type) |
Yeah I prefer to have the weather set at cloudy or whatever it's called. (Where it's just large cotton ball clouds, not the overcast.) It's fun flying through them because unlike the overcast, you have to at least try and turn quick or climb/dive so the chaser doesn't follow you.
Plus I like seeing puffy clouds here and there, floating by while I chase a FW or something? |
