PS3 IL2 Sturmovik League
 

Firstly id just like to say what a great game 1c have produced, theres just no other game like it and for a console game its as real as it gets.

Ive been playing for a while now, almost every night but it seems some nights were just plain unlucky with no one being on. We've sat in the game lobby for 30 mins some nights not having a sinlgle sole join. So i think a league needs to be done, that way we can atleast organise games between one another and maybe get a good few of us on at the same time. Great idea yes ?

Well lets hope so, ive been running my own league for a while (trans atlantic league) mainly for clan based warhawk games but i cant see why we cant play il2 on it too !! Ive added DM, TDM, CTA, and STRIKE ladders for IL2 so feel free to join and enter these ladders and lets get playing ! I go by the name of drkdeath5000 on psn and my good friend oceanx is usually playing along side me so we'll be entering the team based games for sure. Im not sure if any clans are around in this game just yet but you could always team up with some randoms/friends so we can have upto 8 v 8 battles !

I'm still a couple months away from getting my PS3, so until then, I'll just wait and tell you now that' I'll be more than happy to join the network!

sounds interesting . it will be effective when they fix the crash-no-kill thing because you and your friend oceanx love to crash too much. see you around man

lol yeah the crash thing does need to be fixed, believe me we dont do it purposely just when your planes all shot up and in a stall its kinda hard to bring it back. Some people on the other hand do this on purpose, ive seen them quite literally just crash the plane as soon as you get on their tail ! If the plane crashes the last person to shoot that plane should get the kill, would make more sense.

Think your mistaking this for something else, trans atlantic league is just quite simply a league where clans and teams can battle each other, and keep records of the wins, etc. I am however planning to go further eventually with this, im hoping to get news and video feeds all integrated (beta version of whats to come here).

With IL2 im hoping individuals on these il2 forums can befriend one another and create their own teams to battle it out against another team. Personally i think its a great idea seeing as theres no real other leagues out there for IL2.

I like the idea and personally think it could help with MP longevity. It will require a buch of coordination between various virtual pilots, squadrons/clans, and continents; but all in all, good idea.

And is it just me, or do the overwhelming majority of crashers seem to be French? (or have French sounding usernames, anyway)

Back on topic though, I'd love to join, but it would depend on how often I'd be required to play.. Real life shit is really eating into my IL-2 time at the moment :(

Your right there, its either French or Japanese sounding names. I think the main problem is some people dont actually realise you gotta turn the sensitivity down on some planes, lol i didnt realise until i completed the campaign :-P

The league though you can play when you like, basically a team challenges one another and agree's a time/date to play. If you dont accept the challenge you dont gotta play so you can play when you like.

Glad to hear everyone likes the idea so far :), the only problem i can see is we dont really have many clans in this game just yet. Atleast i havent come accross any ? All it needs is two per team but i would like to see an 8 v 8 game one of these days.

There's a PS3 wing right now called VAS, but we aren't quite organized right now. Still waiting for everyone to get a copy of the game.

I only have about 30 min with this game (bought it a couple hours before my flight), so i don't know much about how its setup, are there clans online or anything of that sort? or are people just joining a game and sorting out the teams then?

I'm deffo interested, but I'm in Australia, so it'd need to be relatively late in EU evenings (or normal in US) for me to be able to join in during the morning my time - but will keep an eye on the thread ;).

cool, so its like the fifa games where the games are recorded and you can challenge others? if yes this sounds very promising inform us of any game schedules.

I dont know much about the fifa games, but yes the scores are recorded on the league. If anyones interested register yourself here and create a team in one or all the il2 ladders, once we get a few teams registered we can start challenging one another.

Ive been thinking if this does work out and we get a couple teams registered the best way to go about this would be have 3 team based games as one. So theres just the one team ladder but youve gotta play 3 games in total (tdm , cta , and strike) ... maybe ill change that now, it makes more sense ?

Hi, this sounds really good this is what we have been waiting for our squadron is pretty loose now since everybody doesn't have the game and I am sure a few will end up dropping out but this sounds fun and looks interesting. I guess whoever wants to do this needs to go register.

I'm up for it. I have work and whatnot, but I can usually squeeze time in. I'm actually part of a small clan right now (Rogue Squadron, if any of my wing men are reading!) Whenever I'm not flying with them, everyone else watching my six is part of Zero's Heroes.

Also, try contacting the rest of your flight group members and ask them to register please. Isee you regularly online so we will be able to work some matches out

You know, I don't think i've ever actually seen any of my compatriats from Juliet flight online.... At the moment, its a flight of one I think.

Whats everyones thoughts on merging the 3 team ladders into one ? So for the team ladder we'd have to play 3 games (TDM , CTA , and STRIKE).

@Edal ive added me and my friend oceanx under the CTA ladder, ill have a word with him tonight. In the meantime do you have any time/date preferance ? I notice your 5 hours behind, were usually on after 9pm GMT so anytime around 9 should suit.

Congratulations, for this perfect observation, perfectly accurate, perfectly objective. Most of, if not all, French are crashers. You can also say that All crashers are french.

But you certainly can go further... "just a small effort" Ok I help you :

• You can also say that Japs (even if the game is not distributed in their countries, should I recall that to you) are Suicide bombers on CTA (You could say that's history... they can't help)
  
• Brits are Jet Fans when they are not badly struggling to control their Spit
  
• Russian are ALWAYS cheap gunners on IL10 or cheap dogfighter on their biplane
  
• Germans, well for German I don't know but I am sure that you will find something interesting to say

Just joking... seriously though, My comment wasn't a dig at the french players, it was just an observation that some of the worst culprits appear to be of the French persuasion...

Just noticed that we have a rival squadron in the league now... none other than TAK, lead by OceanX and DrDeath!

Who's up for a game later tonight? I tried challenging them on the league website, but apparently they are not in the same league as us (in more ways than one :p)

T'was only a bit of light-hearted banter, but no worries, the stereotyping will stop. I'm actually part French myself, so no offence was meant.

Anyway, back on topic, here's a little report on the first Friendly match between TAK and VAS, which happened last night.



Capture the Airfield (Manston), 20 mins match, Realistic.

TAK: OceanX and Drkdeath5000
VAS: Edal86 and Rhah.

Result: TAK kicked VAS's arse, basically!

In our defence, we matched them fairly well in the air, but kept getting wasted on the ground as we were trying to land to take the airfield.... mainly by Drkdeath and his bloody I-16 :-x!!! (God I loathe those planes)
All in all, it was a good match, if a little one sided with the scores.

Next time, it should be team battle, (on simulator preferably)

All I ask for is 15 or 10 second respawn, because with 5 respawn you basically appear on top of the plane that is landing once you crash. We lost under their rules next time we must agree on the settings ok TAK.

By the way, if you fly realistic you may as well practice on SIM where real players play :)

Sorry for not posting in a while, been kinda busy but yeah we played our first game and it was brilliant. Much more competive than the standard game, so we'll definately be playing again !

Since it was the first game we just counted it as a friendly, to see how things would go so no ones got a loss or win yet. Im gonna create a single team ladder so any future games we can play all three game modes.

Anyone else gonna register in the il2 ladders , would like to see more teams. Two really isnt enough for this to work ...

I've added a team... might not play challenge right away... but if the league takes off I'm ready

thats cool ... so we've got 3 teams in total now, hardly alot but its a start. Im seeing more people playing il2 now so im sure more will follow, now we just wait :)

Definately going to bring it up with my squad. Random matches tend to be horribly lop-sided, and I know Das wanted to find other squads to fight sometime.

We mainly do arcade mode, I think a couple of us do realistic from time to time though. Still, don't guess it can hurt to put our names in the hat, in case some of the teams there ever feel like an arcade match, or more people join up. With the lack of clan support, some kind of hub for clan matches would be kind of nice.

we are more like a series of squadrons as we have over 20 members playing il2 sturmavik. I'm sure my boss ratman911 (one of you guys may know him) will sign up some guys for the league after we've dealt with our invitational tournament. Our guys mainly tend to play arcade, so i wouldn't expect them to sign up for a realistic or simulator. As one of my squadrons lead pilots i'm only able to promise so much
