Hey everyone, i tell you something that match i had with steyr_amr was one of the most intense matches ever played, If only there was a video! we were drawing in the last 3 minutes and i got killed, so i rushed over as fast as i could to try and get a last second kill, I spot him at 500ft, i climb, he avoids and we both hit the deck dodging trees left right and center, Then i lose him in the last 20 seconds, i look left then right and left once more,
"There he is" i turn to intercept guns firing like a mad man, Round upon round sprays his wings 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, "FAILED" and as soon as the message comes up i shoot him down.

Yep was such a highlight, when you went down over the sea with 2 minutes to go I had a huge hole in my starboard wing, but I was only 1 point ahead so I couldn't ditch, but nor could I run away and hide somewhere, so I thought I'd climb towards you. Spotted you low and fast but I wasn't high enough to avoid you, and I had by then learned that you are devastating in a head on pass, so I tried to present as difficult an angle as possible. You still managed to clip my port wing so I turned (more like "fell" though with my plane in the condition it was) into you. From then on it was a dodging session at 50ft. I never saw you once but I would often hear the rattle of your guns and try to jink any which way I could. Then no more than a second after "Mission Completed" I burst into flames and keeled over into the ground.

Wish we could have recorded it too, though then everyone would see me flying into the ground because I had target fixation on you, then respawning and jamming my flaps (d'oh!)

Have always had massive respect for you, especially in the Spitfire, which to me is like a flying unicycle. Even losing to you by a point or 2 would have been a massive boost for me.

I'd like to echo these sentiments, this tournament has made this game live for me and put me in contact with a lot of players I really enjoy playing with. I don't think the PS3 Birds of Prey community made this tournament, I think this tournament made the community.

That would be sweet - maybe fourth place could organise it. I would be more than happy, especially as all the top four are online most nights.

LOL Edal, you put yourself in the wrong final box :) :P But thanks a million for this tournament and the other - it really has rekindled a community out of the embers. Every night I see more than half my online friends playing IL2.

I like this idea. we can scedule the 3rd place match and the final on the same day and time, so after we finish it we can all enter dogfight match and take some screenshots :)

- Edal, do you have some video capturing equipment?

- Infinite, in case you're in the final, do you have some?

- Perhaps (with players permission) a third player with equipment to provide external view footage, plus footage from an extra aerial footage session, for external views of the players's crates, scenery, formation of first three, as was suggested

It would be a lost opportunity for generations to come, not to have this documented.

I'm willing to organise what is needed.

EDIT: Although I gather anyone with a DVD recorder can capture, but it's a bit of a long winded process... play the PS3 through the recorder and record the output to DVD. Then rip the ISO on PC and convert to AVI or something...? It's all theory that I read somewhere so couldn't tell you if it would work. Sounds feasible to me though.

Hi Edal and Mirgervin,

After doing some research (I'm not too familar with the subject) it seems that recording of the final in HD would be nearly impossible to organise.

There is however a cost effective way to do SD recordings through a device called Pinnacle Video transfer which would not require a PC, or the Pinnacle Dazzle, which would work in connection with a PC.

The obvious downside, as I understand it, is that the PS3 can only output either analog or digital signals, and not simultaneously. Therefore if we would be using these, then you both could play against each other in SD only, which might be unusual and affect your gameplay. However, both players would have the same disadvantage which might balance this out, and this might also be of a lesser effect than 'war correspondent's' bombers flying around you while you battle.

If you both could agree on doing a recording of the finals with the mentioned SD limitation, I'd like to propose, as a special price for the first and the second placed of this tournament, either the Dazzle or the Video Transfer, according to your personal needs, which I would then supply to you. You would then record and pass on the media (e.g. external harddrive which I'd also supply) to someone who would do the editing and publication with your permission.

I would enjoy providing this special price since I enjoyed this tournament very much. For you Edal it would also be a recognition for the hard work you've been putting into this tournament and the ongoing one.

Great tournament! Even though I'm on Xbox I have been following the results and a video would be 'brill' if possible.

alright guys, I am back. I have news, I played Mirgervin already two days ago. I lost 12-18. we both used spits IX. Nothing exciting really, mostly head on attacks and collisions. There were 3 rolling scissors that lasted for about 30 seconds, that was the best part of the whole match, (I got the kill 2/3 of the time) Maybe I should have made up a rule "dont shoot opponent until you are at his Six, lol"

* I realize it would have been impossible to record since most of the time all you would be able to see was going to be two black dots.

I am satisfied, though, because I accomplished my goal. I wanted to find someone who could really test my skills on a 1vs1 match. Although, a rematch that will prohibit head on attacks would really demonstrate each other skills "shooting only from a 6 o'clock position would be more exciting.

* to all, Practice will make you a better player. I have noticed how many of you guys have become real aces. I hope that this tournament gave you some kind of motivation to keep trying to get better. Mirgervin is a good example of what practice can produce :)

Great tournamet, I had a lot of fun with it. Maybe now when we have a some kind of ranking we could continue this like in boxing. Challenging and going up in ranking list till you can challenge ace of the aces and maybe even win that trophy then.
