FYI: Sh37 was previously mounted in error by the original dev team on the Yak-9UT. Later the armament was fixed to incorporate the correct weaponry (NS-37 and B-20S instead of Sh37 and ShVAK).

Also it's hilarious that there is a weapon class named antimatter :)

Hi everyone,

This is my first post at the 1C Forum.

I happened to find this thread last night while doing an Internet search and wanted to chime in regarding Jiver's Sound Mod. I am the creator of Jiver's Total Sound Mod (JTSM) and it is good to see that you guys have an interest in it! I started working on this mod back in 2009 (I think) but have been away from the modding scene for the last year or so. I have been so tied up with real life issues that I have not had really any time to work further on version 2.0 of the mod. However, things have calmed down a bit and I am eager to complete and release version 2.0. My initial plan was to make separate versions of the mod for each of the popular mod packs (UP, HSFX, DBW, etc.) but have found this to be a daunting task! It would be great to release a single sound mod which works with all of the popular mod packs but I would need help with this. What I think I will do initially is release version 2.0 strictly for stock IL-2 1946 v4.12.2\4.13. This will be fairly easy as I already have 95% of the new sounds completed. What do you guys think?

By the way, it is very cool to see some of the Team Daidalos guys posting here! 8)

Also, I would be happy to answer any questions you guys may have about my sound mod and am open to hearing your ideas about how to improve it further.

Cheers,

Jiver

@IceFire

Thank you!

@Jiver

Hi Jiver and welcome to the forum.

I'm an happy user and a fan of your sound mod (installed in UP2.01). I've now installed Steerpots' pack in stock 4.12.2m and I found even higher; its only drawback is engine noise when engine is off in external views.

I think you could start for your development removing weapons naming issue discussed above on this same thread.

Respectfully,
GB

Jiver,

Be aware that stock 4.12 now supports custom sounds. HSFX-7 is based on 4.12, so there are at least two big groups that can benefit from your new project.

Do the Jiver engine sounds , sound as good as the tiger flybys ? I do like the tiger sounds but it seems they only work intermittently .

Pencon,

Tiger's Fly-by sounds are very impressive but it is my opinion that they are a little too loud. I also have had issues with the sounds cutting out from time to time but I believe there are patches to fix this issue. If you go over to the SAS1946 site and look under the "Soundz" section you will find a very large thread dedicated to Tiger's sound mod.

In my sound mod I attempted to balance the external engine sounds with the other sounds in the game (namely the gun and cannon sounds). The engine sounds are still loud and impressive sounding (as they should be!) but they do not totally drown out the gun and cannon sounds. I spent a ton of time tweaking the external engine sounds to get them just right. Sound is totally subjective so you will have to try them out and see if they are to your liking.

Hi Aviar,

Yes, it is inevitable that I will eventually have to create a "unified" sound mod that will work for all the popular mod packs. One of the big problems is that I made custom engine sounds for the multi-engine planes which require a modified buttons file. So consequently I must include this modded buttons file with my sound mod and it must work with all of the mod packs out there. I have also used some custom naming conventions for nearly all of the machine guns and cannons in the game which further complicates things. When I initially created the mod back in 2009 it was just a simple sound replacement mod. Over the years it has grown into a much more complicated project!

G'day Jiver

Very much looking forward to that.

Aviar

Sure.
After you decompress "412soundpackV5.0", 'my_presets' has 'acoustics' and 'sound' as two subfolders. 'acoustics' needs to be a subfolder inside 'sounds'. You will get a mix of stock and soundpack sounds if you just drop it in as is.

Hi Jiver,
Great to have you here!

One thing I noticed from the original version posted here was that I would occasionally get a rare, random bullet hit sounds in cockpit when no one externally or on the ground was firing at my kite. I think one other person also commented likewise.

Look forward to version 2! :)
