It's easy to make them pretty if you throw the specs out the window.

If you mean 2004 specs, then, yes. Il-2's polygon limit for some objects might be reached before a user with a semi-modern PC would have frame rate issues.

Sensational

This is truly sensational and is going to be really great. Truly one of the most beautiful/realistic effects i have ever seen, and i tried many.

The very good point is that there's a very good harmony between all effects, smoke, hit effects, explosions, fire... Wow! And it has a really "natural" looking, very beautiful...

My question: is this mod what we will really have for IL2 1946 stock, right? It looks too good to be true...

I'm worried about the frame rate hit that this may cause. If it can be implemented without causing big dips in FPS, then I'm all for it. This performance will be critical online.

I am running a fairly crap computer from 2009, and I mean it was fairly crap then. Dual core AMD @ 2.5ghz, 3 GB RAM, nVidia 9800GT 512MB, and I run these effects just fine. I have to say I think most people will be able to run these just fine these days.

I'd be interested to see what a burning bomber looks like? I see lots of smoking debris, but what happens when an engine becomes a 'smoker'?

Looks great so-far and something that I wish had been there from day one ;)

Cheers, MP

So, what is the frame rate hit, really?

I cannot believe that with that much partical effect being rendered all over that it is not seriously degrading frame rates.

You could see it in the P-38 sequence.

Too much smoke frome the ship stacks as well, those are not coal burners.
