I really don't think I can build a much better computer than I already have. The game engine is jacked and whom ever coded the engine needs to revisit the Dev school again. What happend to the damn optimizers and testers? A public Alpha would of saved this game, I mean one that was released before the retail copies hit the market.

RIP IL2 COD Best of luck on the Russian Front with the same game engine.

Any thoughts on video configuration...pretty much have everything on
low and medium. I have read a few threads that posters have stated,
a few things should be set to high? Maybe, probably, I'm wrong, but...
I just think/believe that I should be able to swing "higher" settings?

Do my results reflect the capabilities of my "system"?
Should I consider? Higher instead of Lower settings?

Did you see my results with my system specs? I does not matter how strong your hardware is there game engine is not optimized. Maybe all settings low and a few medium if you don't want the horrid fps drop when explosions go off, etc...

You just have to test out different settings.

Roger that Broken Pixel......Thank You for your efforts.
I did note that you have a better Vcard.....

Like some others....and sixteen months later....I'm about to
park this sim. It's really been a disappointing experience.

Thanx Everybody

I uninstalled the latest beta patch and reverted back to the official steam version and then ran some tests. "Black Death Track"

I set everything as high as it would go and 2xaa, no epi filter and no ssao.
I got:

AVG = 26 MAX = 70 MIN = 5

I then repeated the same test, except no grass selected.
I got:

AVG = 21 MAX = 72 MIN = 0
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This just makes no sense to me. I would have thought that the "no grass"
results would have bettered the first results. Fork me, I'm done.

It's time for me to step away for awhile.... Thanx Everybody and Good Luck

Tha min 0 is because you have fps START SHOW twice or it will say zero. Give her another go. Well at least we can spend quality time analyzing there engine with different hardware configs.

Katdog any chance of an update to your settings now that the official patch is out?

Your settings made this game playable for me almost a year ago, I'd like to see if I can crank up more details now with the patch.

Yes. I've been looking into it. Any feedback appreciated here.

Latest Patch

I was unable to run this game 6 months ago. I was getting 3-4 fps. Now after the latest patch I can FINALLY play the game with good FPS. I cant believe a patch made this much of a difference.

My CPU specs are:

AMD dual core 4400+
Ati HD 5570 1GB Memory
4 GB ram
Windows 7 64 bit

Obviously this is a low-mid Comp. and IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover runs fine. Thank God!!!!!

Latest Patch Again

At really high graphic settings it runs ok in cockpit view... On external I turn them down a bit ( but still looks great). I was hesitant on buying it since it ran like crap about a year ago on the lowest settings but I said what the hell since I heard good things about the latest patch.. Thank god I did.. I Couldn't be happier with the performance. I'm getting about 35 FPS on Medium-High settings now!!!!

after 10 or 15 minutes the game freezes

After playing il2 storm of war for say 10 or 15 minute the game freezes

could this be down to insufficient memory or do I just need to bite the bullet and upgrade to a new pc ( if it`s just a matter of adding some memory to keep me going for now it will give me more time to save for an upgrade )

I copied and pasted my pc specs from belaric as follows --- gaphics card is the nvidia 275 ( bit confusing below )
