To all VVS Airmen!!

Attention USSR team:

please post before 11:59pm (Monday, January 11. Pacific Time) What Hangar option you would like. You guys got 2500 resources to spend and you can afford all Hangar Options except for Hangar E.

** If an Hangar is not selected, then, for this occasion only, I will choose Hangar D for you which includes all planes except Jets. (both La's are included)

*** If kozzmo does not reply to this message I will use any other USSR team member's decision.

(I will be here at 12:00am pacific time (tuesday) to post this week's briefing's.)

You read the rules already?

You will be drafted to any of the 2 teams soon, I will let you know via Private Message.

if they are online, or if they happen to read their PSN messages when they are, which many players skip. I've directed Mirgervin to both sites numerous times, as far as I know, he hasn't even seen the rules yet. I'm sure there are many players on UK team who haven't either. It's hard enough getting a few people to do something right - look how long the AoA tournament is dragging on.

-- 5 deaths for each time a bomber dies = bomber players will want to keep themselves alive (also, it may motivate them to try and "return to base"). This may motivate bomber players to try to land instead of kamikazeing into the ground targets when they still have a healthy bomber.

-- Fighter player being demoted or suspended for ramming bombers = fighter players will want to be more careful not to ram bombers.

Not surprising since you haven't modified one rule that I've commented on.
I wonder why you even asked me to comment.

The video is a best-case scenario. In practice, for every 10 bombers, close weave nets on average about 8 kills, 1 shot-up engine, and one collision. Which is pretty damn effective and has nothing to do with ramming bombers. Using it would result in a collision within the first 5 matches - within probably a couple days. So will more distant attacks. In the one strike match I played today, philabong crashed into my bomber - attacking from the 6. Not intentional. Suspension for that is ridiculous.

The only equally effective attack with less risk of collision is to boom and zoom, but that's not effective when the bomber starts out only a few miles from the target.

*** I had to think what was fair for both sides for everything, since in this situation (Strategic Bombing) everything "revolves" around the Bomber, I thought of many possibilities and this came out to be the best.
Except you are not on both sides, you are playing in the tournament, and you published the rules after the sides were chosen, not before.

Of course the bombers shouldn't be rammed. But I'd sure like to hear the "many possibilities" that were all worse than the extreme measure of suspending a player for accidental contact.

During WWII, Ivan Kozhedub flew 326 combat missions, took part in 126 aerial combats, and achieved 62 kills (in them 22 FW 190 and 18 Ju 87). The planes he flew were La-5 FN & La-7 fighters. In 1949, he finished the Zhukovski Military Aviation Academy. In 1956, he graduated from the High Command´s Academy, after which he was promoted to General.

Great history lesson! Great fit for me b/c I *love* the LA-7 too...:-P

Personally, I think Edal's bomber rules are right on point... I think we should give them a try the way he's thought it through before we begin to pressure him about not accepting suggestions just yet... I trust him when he says he's thought it through, and Kozz I think you're taking his rejection of your idea(s) a bit too hard, especially so early into the tourney... let's see how it rolls bro...
