It didn't ask for a delivery address? Even when I try to check out with paypal, it still has my delivery address and says it's not available in my country for purchase.
Maybe then you should buy through Steam for the 17.00...you have 15 minutes till the sale ends:grin: http://store.steampowered.com/app/63950/
] |
evenif it did ask, I put I live int he usa, and paypal has my usa address.. I am just so tired I can't remember..
I tried a credit card first and it rejected the USA... so I switchedd to paypal on payment and it flew through the process.. paypal not only needs and address, but it must be a verified address,, there is a difference.. I can't tell you anything else because I don't know anythign else,, been up since early , and am very tired, brain is fried.. Quote:

I used the code from Get Games and used it on Steam to activate and d/l.

It wouldn't let me do a credit card either in the US but paypal went through without a problem. Took the key from the email and activated it in Steam. Steam says the key is for the EMEA version, is that only English version or was there another for North America?

They drop the price, talking a sequel that you may or may not be required to pay for and that will supposedly have fixed all the problem with the original game. I don't care what you guys say about this game, it was sold screwed up and it's still screw up and they are already talking about a sequel before this version is fixed? A sequel is a continuation of a prior event or in this case game, it adds new content if you will, it's not a repair for the previous version. I for one won't pay for a sequel to this game until they make this game do what was promised in their advertising of this game. To think in April I paid nearly $60 USD for this game, billed as the best flight sim ever and 9mos later they are selling it for under $10 USD. I will not say we've been rip-off or we've been screwed, I'll say we've been XXXX. TC

S!
Maybe he will after the GFX patch. As Luthier stated in one reply, now buried in here somewhere, there was some old code that caused Launcher.exe problems etc. And that Luthier's team has been working to rewrite the GFX engine is another good thing. So let's say if the patch fixes the performance of this game then we are already a long step ahead. Playable and smooth is a big issue for many players. And do not forget Luthier's team is building the sequel on this engine so it is a FIX for CoD and a good base for BoM :) Agree? I've been playing other games while waiting for the patch coming some day. Ranting and venting here sure does not speed it up :D |

A temporal offer from a shop has nothing to do with Ubisoft nor 1C. So "they" do not drop the price. What are those features promised in their advertising that the game doesn't do? And I mean real advertising, not rumours. I play it in a 6 year old PC, with barely 10fps, I'm very conscious of the problems that the game have. And for me it is the best flight sim ever, and it'll be even better in the future. It's very sad that you can't enjoy it with that PC of your sig. Very sad, really. |

Well, I have an Athlon 64 3500+ (below minimum specs), 2Gb RAM and a 9600GT 512mb (only thing newer than 6 years). So yeah... I'm satisfied with the performance in my old PC. Anything about those promised things that the game doesn't do? |

Everybody who played a flight sim (or almost any other state-of-the-art game) and doesn't know that the minimum specs aren't worth the paper they are printed on, needs a reality check, imo.
|
Quote:
For me It's a very very good sim (that needs fixes, of course) and it's enjoyable even at 10fps. It's a shame that you can't enjoy it, simply that. I'll ask again... What are those promised things that the game doesn't do? Promised in the advertising, not rumours. Anyway this is totally off topic, so I'll leave the discussion here. Quote:

If you really believe what you have wrote here, you are the one who needs reality check, and possibly specialist help. Believing in lies, or take the lies as normal (like you did in your post), and especially believing that the other people believe in the same lies or delusions as you, tells much about person's psychological and mind frame and person's inner world. Of course, I grant that you could just not expressed yourself precisely :) I suggest the book "Political Ponerology" by the late Polish psychologist Andrew M. Lobaczewski on that mater. http://ponerology.com/ Minimum specifications usually means that you will play the game, but not with all of its features and graphic quality. When Clod was released it wasn't playable even with the highest official specifications. I believe that specifications given by 1C was true at the time, and that along the way something went wrong/ or someone didn't do his job. Also I believe that this game (yes its game actually) will be OK and shine again in few months. Meanwhile, reality says that this game still is not finished, and not OK. |
for me the whole forum becomes very suspicous in the last time. all my threads concerning my dissatisfaction with the game are deleted as they don't fit in the vision of some people. if you censor everyone whos not praising this "game" then you don't even need a forum. its rediculous and youre wiping out the former fans of this sim and you lose customers for your next sims.
|
Constructive criticism wasn't deleted/censored here.
And, this forum is for fans or wannabe fans and people who hope this sim will succeed, if you left this community, don't whine here. |
Quote:
Did I have stella performance? No, but long before release the Oleg stated that the sim would be unplayable on maximum settings on current hardware and if I remember rightly that medium setting were what we should be expecting to play on at release. But still some people got the sim, put all the slide to Max and then started complaining about performance issues. Go figure! |

I agree, I played it from the start on: i7 920 2.67Ghz 2GB RAM NVidia GeForce GTS 250 1GB Win XP The processor ain't bad but the graphics card and memory are pretty low spec compared to most of you guys. Not perfect but very enjoyable experience all the same. The crashes are annoying I admit but I know they'll address that in the near furture. They've given me a taste of what they're aiming for and it's definitely something worth the wait. It'll be a kick ass sim just like IL2 given a little time and patience. Remember...good things come to those who wait. |
Playable?
Ok these are examples not quotes, rant/ton o text below.
Playable is very subjective. Some ppl are fine with 10fps others need 60fps and comparring Cod to a game with a big budget and two years old to CoD is unfair. Sure Mass Effect2 or whatever plays great/80 fps on all kinds of pc configs but thats completly different. Also whoever said CoD is not playable is dead wrong! maybe it doesnt play on there pc or doesnt have all the stuff IL2 does after 10 years but then they should write a letter to there pc telling it to upgrade and it sucks cuz it doesnt play todays games at max or wait 10 years and come back when CoD is "finished" oh wait they can do that with il2 now! On the other hand there are several other games on the market today that no hardware exists to max them out, I wish more ppl would keep that in mind when they decide to tell the world not to play/buy the last realistic ww2 cfs in the world cause it doesnt play on there hardware(or maybe it does but there to lazy to fresh install there hdd or tweak there settings properly). Also from what I have seen if you have a 32 bit OS or less then 1gb vram/4gb ram you will struggle more then others. |
Yup Playable
Yup It's Playable for 25 to 35 minutes...right up to the crash or freeze... Thats what we see in MP.. I have had flights of over an hour single player..but that is still rare. Nothing worse than working a dogfight..get the bandit in your gunsight...about to pull the trigger and BAM! Freeze/Crash...
For me and our group it is MP we most enjoy...Too frustrating right now so It's shelved for now... Back to IL2 4.11 for BoB.. Maybe one day CLOD will become stable... Until then...there are many good Sims to fly Sure would be nice to get another Friday update...been almost a month..At least tell us of any progress on the launcher error... That is the game killer |
I just got an email from Get Games .They have a special Feb. 29th sale.Cliffs Of Dover is 70% off.
A copy and paste from the email: It happens every four years. Every four years we get a 29th of February. If your boss is anything like ours - you don't get paid for this day of work and you don't get any thanks. Anyway, the point of us cluttering up your inbox is that FROM 11.00AM GMT on the 29th OF FEBRUARY FOR 24 HOURS we are taking 29 games and cutting prices big time. So check out the list below, get ready and then Get Games (see what we did there!) So, to save money - 11.00am 29th Feb - and click the link... http://www.getgamesgo.com/product/il...liffs-of-dover We might be at our desks on the 29th of February, but we won't be working! Peace out! |

i grabbed one for myself (tired of doing the russian dll shuffle at each patch), and told a few other people who still had been sitting on the fence, at 14.99$ cant really go wrong, and good to support the ongoing work being done in the patch fixing |
If 1C (or Ubisoft... or whoever the publisher is) would release a 'version 2' of the Collectors Edition once the next major patch is out and go back on a marketing blitz, especially in the US, I'd think they'd have a good shot at pulling in some more retail numbers. Send the patched, updated code out to all the US review sites, advertise, sponsor a few events, advertise some more, etc.
I'd like the sim to put up better sales numbers, and I'd like the chance to own a copy of the collectors edition without importing it from Europe. |

What keeps you from importing it? |

I sure wish I had gotten the itch again and checked this out a couple of weeks sooner, this would have been a sweet deal! Just my luck though, things like that seem to always happen to me... |
Amazon.co.uk have CloD for £14.99 plus £2.03 shipping.
Ordered! Arrived today (31.3.2012): I'm not 100% impressed with that speed of delivery, but it'll do. |
I just bought Clod for 9.99 Pound Sterling at the UK GAME site: http://www.game.co.uk/en/il-2-sturmo...f-dover-159279
They sent me an email, with the serial key, which unlocked without any fuss on my steam account. Yes I am currently playing Clod!! I'm located in Australia, so after conversion and exchange fees it worked out to be approximately $17AU. A far cry from the $49.99 asking price on steam for us Aussies. Hippy. |
Quote:
how long did you wait for the serial? Thanks so much!! |

I've gone back to IL-2 1946 with UP3/DBW mods and loving it. Hopefully the next patch will improve CloD (heard that before right!?) |
Just bought for £4.99 as well, quite a deal! Haven't received the key yet but I don't blame them since it's the weekend.
I confess, that upcoming patch got me interested. |

As for how it is running. I have GeForce 460 GTX 1Mb. I think it is a medium-range card by now? Anyway, I had to lower some land related settings and I can run at ~40 fps with some lock-ups and shuttering. They did mentioned they fixed (or at least tried) to fix those performance issues in the next patch. It was definitively worth the £4.99 price. I got some really good looking cockpits with tons of buttons to press. And the multiplayer is a blast :) |
apparently I managed to draw in another friend who might be interested! Any other place where to get CoD cheap? The Game one seems to have gone :(
|
It would seem there are no sales at the moment.
However from time to time the following do have sales: http://store.steampowered.com/ http://justflight.com/ http://getgamesgo.com/ |
Are there any disadvantages buying it on Steam vs. other stores?
Thanks, Sabrefly. |

The web site came on line this month.I am not sure I would trust it.

I think you can change the region settings in Steam so it will d/l the international version.
|
Never heard of them.I would stick with a more established seller.

I just got an email from GetGamesGo that IL2 Cliffs Of Dover is on sale for 75% off.
http://www.getgamesgo.com/product/il...liffs-of-dover Although it says not for North America I think you can choose the "rest of the world" option, get the key and d/l from Steam using the key. |
Amazon has it for $12.23 + shipping.
|
CoD for $12
|
I just bought this from the UBI store.
The collectors edition, for £18.77 including shipping. Seemed a good deal to me. |
Just letting you guys know: IL-2 Cliffs of Dover is now being sold for 9.99€ regulary on the EU Steamstore. It's £9.99 for the UK and still 29 $ for the US.
First time I've seen a game being sold cheaper around here though, so they might adjust the price soon and it'll be, like always, 9,99$. Right now it's still 29$. Before this price change it was 49,9€ here in the EU. So if you're from the EU and you've been holding back just because of the price - now is the time to get it. |
I just got an email(8-24-12) from Getgamesgo that Clod was on sale for $12.49.I have seen it a little cheaper from them in the past.($9.99)
It says not for North America but people in North America have bought it from them and used the code to d/l from Steam and not from the site.Steam seems to have faster servers. http://getgamesgo.com/product/il-2-s...liffs-of-dover After checking Justflight, they also have it for $12.49. http://justflight.com/product/il-2-s...liffs-of-dover The two sites seem to be related.Or at least use the same checkout software. |
Gamefly has it on sale for £2.49

UBIsoft CLOD CE offer
http://shop.ubi.com/store/ubiemea/en...s-Edition.html
£15 for the CE sorry if the word is already out! Ross |
Been this price for about a year now.
|
not for the collectors edition iirc
the download version from various retailers has been on sale a number of times, but a boxed collectors edition i havnt seen at that price given its on sale now at ubi itself, would seem to me that BoM release might be sooner that some believe, or they have a warehouse full of these boxes maybe (which means it will be the last time that a long requested special edition of the il2 series will be created due to the current low sales). |
