Ah, cheers. I kinda deliberately lost touch with bikes. My brother was severely damaged by a head on with a transit. Still have leathers and knee-sliders though, just in case I change my mind. You never stop riding in your head.
I always said bikes were the closest thing to flying without leaving the ground too.

'anti wheelie control'?? - Nope, sorry, but no thanks!:D

Edit: Woo-hoo, nice pic, cheers!

Sry to hear about yer Bro..

I've tried hanging up my gloves as it were but they keep coming back out..Ive had fast cars, M3 was my last but it doesn't compare to the thrill of riding. I'm not sure i would commute though, just a fun weekend thing and keep the car for work.

Dont think Il ever be without some sort of motorized 2 wheeler..not while I'm still able to get on one anyway

Well funny as it sounds i can relate to that..being free, the noise, wind.

Kind of hard to explain unless you ride

Yeah, I served my apprenticeship commuting in all weathers on a Z650 in the early '80's (my knees still suffer from the cold), then moved to 'Sunday Biker' status when I bought a GPZ750 Turbo in '87, then had some fantastic times on some sports 2-strokes (KR1S's - best fun per £ ever conceived).
Last bike was a ZX6R.Sold it 6 years ago. As you can gather, I was always fond of 'giant killers'!

I find now though, that to use a bike as I'd like to, I'd end up either banned or damaged, what with speed bumps, speed cameras, helicopters in Wales etc. And of course, Mr Sunday Driver.
So now I try to convince myself that a soft-top is more comfortable in summer as I don't need helmet and leathers. And the air-con is lovely.

Nope, doesn't work, that argument, does it? :(

Well the M3 was a soft top w/hardtop so that argument didn't work for me anyhow :)

There's no difference now from when you were riding last apart from obviously the speed camera numbers but do you get them in Rural areas so much?

you get them from time to time here in the south but hardly any on the known biker roads

Wales was pretty much my old stomping ground.

Doing a 'lap of Wales' on a Sunday was a common ride out. A few years ago, a new police chief there clamped down really hard on all things bike. A few old mates ended up banned for speeding and one with a 'dangerous driving' conviction. He was nabbed by a plain clothes car.

So we started doing the Cat and Fiddle, Devil's Bridge and Matlock runs, until another mate dropped his 'Blade on the Cat, broke 5 ribs and punctured a lung.

Luckily, I've never had a major spill, but I felt it was just a matter of time I suppose.

The other snag I have is that from where I live, it's a fair old journey on boring roads to get to any decent biker country in pretty much every direction.

So I should move house, forget about the other stuff and bite the bullet, I suppose. :)

Too true, but I was actually wondering about a Buell, of all things!

Do we get the prize for most seriously off-topic thread derailment?

(Sorry, Doc!);-)
