I bought this sim.

Unplayable "out of the box".

After the last beta patch, I can have fun with large air battels over London, with no big performance flaws.

My rig:

Phenom X4 3.4GHz
4GB ram 800Hz
ATI HD 4850 512MB

I use 1680x1050, fullscreen, AA2x, Vsync ON, Models High, Effects High, Shadows, Grass and Roads ON. Just low the other settings, like terrain shaders, forest, etc.

The sim runs SMOOTH now!

The work solving bugs is in a good pace.

okay so umm... cant see that steam is automatically downloading patch, and i have it set to...

so i downloaded it from megaupload site, saved to desktop... do i just copy the downloaded file and paste it into steam/steamapps/common/il2cliffs of dover file

and then good to go ??

I spent only 14.81 dollars(still TOO MUCH) for this beta thing(russian version)and i feel cheated too....i`ll wait months before buying the US version

Yes, copy the folders and allow them to overwrite If you have issues, go to Steam Library, select properties and select verify integrity of cache and it will revert to the latest official patch.

From what I have seen.. a significant number of the posts are generated by people not knowing how to update the game, and the fairly complex structure under Win7 where the same fiels are stored in different locations :)

i pasted all files into il-2 folder,

now when i try to launch game, launcher stops working and program shuts down...so no more game :(

try setting fullscreen to "pseudo" as this worked for me.
the fullscreen is broken afaik

What version you have, Russian or European ?

You should download the patch assigned to your version.

To repair the game click on it in Steam and go to properties, then click local files.

Now click Verify the integrity of cache, Steam will revert all changes.

I'm not expecting too much improvement in fps because since last patch the performance is pretty high at least in my system ( 19-152 fps in Black Death)
We need more content and gameplay improvements...
