Don't have a specific reason why I want that, I'm just trying to wrap my head around how it all works with the different options available in setting up the CH hotas :)

what i've found is if i can think it up i can either do it via the .cmc file or someone who knows cms much better than i do can make a script for me over at ch-hangar.com.

i don't know the cms scripting that well but from waht i've seen over on their forums you can do pretty much anything you want with a script.

eventually i hope to learn the scripting on my own.. plan on playing with that script posted above for the mini joystick and hopefully i can get a better feel for how things work as a whole with CH CM.. Crazy how customizable everything is!

Each device doesn't have more than 32 buttons so you can use it without any mapping software and Direct X will see all of them up to its limit of 32 buttons and 8 axis. The Fighterstick has three axis 19 buttons and an 8 way POV hat. In my opinion better to leave them as separate devices so you can map commands to every button and more on top when you use 3 modes as standard or have 4 modes using CMS script plus you can have shifted functions on each of those buttons too if you really want to go to town on it. I don't think I've ever maxed out the number of combinations I could program on a CH HOTAS without using every single command in a game just for the hell of it.

I started the CH Hangar site because I came from using Thrustmaster gear and so the CH Control Manager software was still new to me. I made some maps, learnt how to program so the site was set up to share my profiles and help others with theirs and its grown into what it is now. A lot of what I picked up either came straight out of the manual or from the help of others at the CH Hangar including help from Bob Church who actually writes the Control Manager software. Things like the script I mentioned about switching the X and Y axis from one device to another on the fly with the press of one button came straight out of the Control Manager manual. It was a script in its entirety in the manual and the example given for it was for two yokes in a flight sim trainer so the trainer could off hand control to his yoke to the pupil. I saw this and thought "why couldn't I switch these axis not just between two identical devices but two different devices like a joystick and yoke?" so I copied it in and tried it out. 531_Ghost has also created a handy beginners guide to the Control Manager software here which covers the basics of mapping.

LOL I never put revision numbers to my IL-2 profile as I'd have run out of numbers years ago :)

Hi,

is the Thrustmaster Hotas Cougar recommendable?
I am looking at a precise Hotas and the hotas warthog is actually too expensive for me. Can the Cougar compete to the Warthog?
Or would you guys advice me to spent the extra 70-150 buccs for the warthog?
Thx for help.

From what I understand, stock Cougars are very much worse than stock Warthogs, and modded Cougars are more expensive than the Warthog. Don't take me as a reliable source, though, I haven't tried either. I would wait for some detailed opinions of guys who've tried/owned both.

I owned a cougar until 3 weeks ago.
They are not precise.
I sold it and bought a full CH setup (i am still waiting for my order.. ggrrrr)

So its simple: Stay away from a thrustmaster cougar if your want precision.
If you want super precision for low price then go:
http://www.thrustmaster.com/product....3&PlatformID=5
But it feels like a toy.
And the looks dont fit a WW2 combat sim (Yeah i know, a warthog,CH fighterstick etc also dont have the correct looks. But at least the Warthog is from metal and the CH dont look like a child's toy etc)

I got my Warthog with Saitek Combat Pedals on Friday replacing my Logitech G940 and I can recommend it wholeheartedly. The stick is very precise.
