how I'm supposed to set my compass?
I have no idea which way I'm facing when I spawn. the gyro or glide scope does not stay level when flying. Intermittent sounds, no flack sounds hitting the plane no bullet hit sound when hitting the plane. other than that my system specs are in the sig and here is my video settings Avrg FPS is 35 to 60.1 |
Make sure you set your altitude and compass before you take off, best done while the engine is warming up..
Use the 'course setter' plus or minus, to rotate the compass so that 'North' is lined up with the white line with the bar across it.. (on British Aircraft). Then read the actual heading at the top of the compass to see which direction your aircraft is pointing too.. read off the heading, and then adjust your Directional Gyro compass to read the same.. Thats it, you are ready to go! See this.. http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.ph...e_compass.html |

This is a video I found in Youtube that you may find helpful: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTRC0sY67Pg It's not a perfect explanation, but it gives you an idea. It's a good idea to practice in Single Player (pick the cross country mission so you start on the ground and are not jumped by enemy aircraft). Be sure to have icons turned on in the Realism settings so you can verify your actual (when you hit "map") aircraft direction vs your compass reading -- which you then set on your gyro compass. It's a good practice to note the position of the sun in relation to where you took off from and where you're heading. In a dogfight or other emergency you may not have the opportunity to peer down at your compass. (The gyro may be out of adjustment, anyway. The magnetic compass may be jumping around, too). If you remember that the way home is to have the sun on your right wing you can quickly set a rough course -- it can be a life saver. On the runway at take off, note the time of day = position of the sun. Sunrise = East, Sunset = West, Noon hour = South, Midnight = You're screwed. |
thanks snapper that worked.

servers stop refreshing when going to main menu, after being in the sim and returning to the server list. No server appears. I have to close out the sim and relaunch Steam to get the list in the servers back up. Also if you have a list and go back into the server no flags available to pick you have to back out of the sim and relaunch Steam again and restart the sim.

Minor bug. In the Spitfire Ia (At least. Presumably effects all Spits and Hurris, potentially even all planes) the exhaust flames disappear when flying low over buildings. Effects are on high
I'm also unfortunately getting the terribly timed performace hits online. Freezing, slideshows and CTD's just when I approach somebody's 6 or something similar. It's almost like it happens whenever I'm about to shoot at someone. GTX570 w/ latest beta driver (285.36?) 1055t @ 3.5ghz 4gb ram Win7 x64 |
Have any of you had this kind of graphics bugs? They seem like jagged edges of a skybox or something.
The seem to follow a rectangular shape on the ground around the viewpoint. The effect can be seen on both land and sea. Sorry for the hueg res :) EDIT: Res: 2560x1600, everything on medium, forests/buildings/grass on, Vsync on, epilepsy off http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/59...48935BB18370C/ http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/59...09117AE7FAB23/ http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/59...619F58F106A65/ I've had these from the first version till this newest betabetapatchpatch. Just couldn't be arsed to upload screens before :) |
Untamo - this are "features" of low GFX settings. i have them too, if land detail is set to medium or low .

Game Crashes with Explosions
I have a problem with the GUI menu. When I try to select a plane or loadout I have to alt+tab out of the game and maximize the window so that I can click on a plane.
I also cannot change key bindings after the game starts up because the mouse button cannot select ok. (I click ok, but it doesn't select the button) GTX 480 Core i7 Processor Windows Vista 6GB Ram |
