Lovely screenshots!

I really think that landscape would look a lot better with 3D hedgerows....it looks great now, but if there were more hedgerows and less trees, it would look a lot more like England (and, also, would hedgerows be better on FPS than a dozen or so trees?)

It is possible to land along the cliffs of dover, not at the high end but on the beach, I have done it with a Tiger Moth. Quiet realistic the heigh of those cliffs.

This is for fun. ;-)

Maybe if they had added more versions then it would have seen more use.

Took a 40mm bofors shell into the R/H engine nacelle, bursting it into flames...

http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/56...28C108D01CDB5/

After feathering the prop, opening rads and oil coolers the fire caused the engine block to overheat and pretty much blew radiators, oil gaskets, governors, exhaust manifolds and more, so I was lucky to set my prop to feather before the governor failed.

Looks really nice when you can see the slowly turning prop leave its shadows on the nacelle...

http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/56...14EDDCCA5727C/

Managed to make it back to France with the plane intact.. Of course since all hydraulic systems depend on the Hydraulic pump driven by the R/H engine I had to use the emergency gear down system, and the gear slowly pushed out and locked. I made a nice three point landing and steered the 110 off the runway before I lost my speed..

Engine fire wouldn't blow out, so I assume the fire units were rushing out :p

Those are FANTASTIC screenshots! The clouds look awesome - please tell us what the "experiment" was? Are these the stock clouds in CoD?

Jaws2002 04-24-2011 12:14 PM

The clouds are stock, but the weather engine, that is generating this cloud formations, is not official. is still beta (use at your own risk) and is only available in full mission builder.
It is somewhat buggy, not optimised and bigger cloud formations, with turbulence and and stuff are chocking the life out of my computer.
In the mission builder, if you click on objects, you can select from that drop down menu "Local weather".
I just placed three clouds on the map. extended the size much further away, by adding two zeros in the firs two boxes and I placed them one at 600m, the second at 3000m and the third layer at 4000m altitude. Then i played a bit with the density and winds in that menu.
You can get realy creative with that weather engine but it tends to crash from time to time, and it doesn't always want to do what you want.
When will be ready and official, with new cloud textures, it should be a very powerful tool.

the last patch made my day (together with the latest Nvidia driver): all three GPUs kick in and are loaded at 99 percent. CPU is still not completely multicore with most of the load on Core 1 (despite config modification) and a CPU utilization at around 15 percent). FPS (Fraps) is about 28 to 30 on average, smooth with rare stutter.
Thx 1C team for this great job!!! I was the first to complain when this game came out. Right now it has become absolutely stunning regarding the visual beauty and the gameplay. With my surround system I am sitting in the cockpit!:-P:-P:-P

flung it together myself. it has extra panel line and rivett detail. i know it isnt realistic to have that showing more prominantly than the default skins. but thats how i like it. :)

mkIIa, goes in the 1csoftclub skins folder and is accesible via making your own mission in the FMB and selecting skin etc etc. shame weathering option doesnt work ! :(

i don't know if anybody agrees, but the propeller looks doesn't look as full as what they are in real life. they look kinda 2-dimensional.

damage model looks amazing. this is one of the reason i can't give up on this game. no other game offers anything close to this.

Speaking of red arrows, it would be interesting to see/hear from the aerobatic flyers and their opions on COD, some of the virtual teams vids were just fantastic in IL-2.

Thats because they are awaiting the su26 ! asides that my main interests are within attemtping virtual displays. creating a display team skin, and a fantasy digital camo scheme.

that's as good an example of the problem with, and argument against, hard coded panel lines that i've laid eyes on.

BigPickle 05-06-2011 07:56 PM

Here's a few that i took, sorry about the lower textures and stuff. I've left them in their original size as they look better.

some basic eye level airfield character shots. ! Must say when u have a fully functioning airfield it makes so much difference to immersion. fixed the pru pink to a more realistic variety. went for some local recon and took these whilst taxing back to the hangers. \o/ love it.
