P.S. do you still have the sound bug with trees on low!!!! Would love to have them back even if they were on low.

Just about the same situation here; runs nicely on my i5 @ 2.8GHz and HD5850.

Buying directly from Steam is always straightforward and reliable, though the international pricing can be a bit wonky.

Hell why bother there. Go to Yuplay, set up an account, and buy the Russian version for $15 US. Download and add the freely available maddox.dll and your good to go.
That way 1C gets all the profits, the middle man is cut out, and everyone is happy.

Best Buy, $49.99, had 4 copies when i came in today. Reliable since i work at one of the locations in Tulsa. Possible that many of the smaller store sizes might not carry in the store so might have to order on our website. paying shipping and sales tax can be a deal-buster!

ATAG_Doc 07-20-2011 12:59 AM

Purchased at Just for Flight I think for 49 US and downloaded it from Steam in less than an hour but I am still looking for my other copy I bought 2.

I'll go to Fry's this weekend and see if I can pickup another copy and post how much it was when I do.

phxace 07-20-2011 01:09 AM

Amazon did not ship today

Here in the U.S.A.'s Great Desert Southwest, I pre-purchased via Amazon. They have a distribution center in town, so most things are overnighted. But alas, I saw no activity with my order today. :(

Steam is convenient, but I am an old school "gotta-have-the-disk" kinda guy.

I suppose we'll see what tomorrow brings.

I can't wait to see you guys up there.

Bear in mind that my 5970 is an Xfire card and I have pseudo full screen on so its only acting like a 5870... not bad... not bad at all.

I have a 5970. as well..what are your Card sttings in CCC? I have had CLOD since April and I am still not happy with the settings.

Try these settings with Radeon Pro.
Turning on "Disable API monitoring" under settings for radeon pro stops the menu corruption in game

I tried radeon pro didn't do much for me so now I use pseudo full screen (disables xfire) everything on max bar house detail which is on low and until the sound is fixed I have trees off.

In ccc I have everything turned to application based, but I will have to check that.

$24.99= a great value!

I purchased from pcgamesupply.com for $24.99 and downloaded from steam in less then one hour (link below).

Great deal for a game that if you are a combat flight simmer you will enjoy for many years to come unlike that $60 fps that gets no love 6 months later.

Its cool for some to insult or destroy others reputation and work on the internet with todays generation, so take the flame posts with a grain of salt.

There is no other ww2 sim like this in the world so if ya wanna be a ww2 fighter ace this is the way to go, bugs and all : )

I just bought it from here too, downloading from Steam now... giggidy...

But there is a $3 activation charge, so it's $28 total.

Also the guy who called me for verification could hardly speak English. So for any other first time users having trouble with the caller, all they need from you is your physical address and your verified. I wasn't even sure the phone call was over, so stayed on til the dial tone came on lol.

Also my credit card declined this transaction, sensitive anti-fraud measures, but already cleared it up. So I just ended up paying through Paypal.

Doesn't look like you can do that anymore. As before there is the warning "We are unable to provide this item for the country you have selected." Unlike before, however, the continue button will only appear if it is indeed removed from the order. Or am I doing something wrong?

Troll2k 07-31-2011 11:54 PM

When I did it (last time it was on sale) I chose rest of the world as the location and it changed the currency to US dollars.I put it in my cart and ignored the errors and warnings and proceeded to check out.

I was honest with real name and address(because I was using a credit card and did not want an international problem).

The deal went through and I got my activation code right away.

I want to append my previous post about Pc Game Supply selling the d/l for $24.99.

I have two buddies that bought it before they were out of stock. It was in English and installed with no problems.

PC Game Supply's site then said "out of stock".After several days their site once again said "in stock"Since then I have gotten two reports that the d/l is the Russian version( another buddy and an online post at another forum). It seems very odd for a US etailer.

OK I'll bite ... looks like a good deal to me, I wonder how long they will support it?

IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover
$12.49 (Steam Download)
http://www.getgamesgo.com/product/il...liffs-of-dover

IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover brings Maddox Games award winning series to the skies of 1940 as the RAF fought the might of the German Luftwaffe.
IL-2 Stumovik: Cliffs of Dover takes place in 1940 during the pivotal battles for air supremacy over Britain between the Royal Air Force and the Luftwaffe (and for a brief period some of Mussolini's Regia Auronautica).
Maddox Games, the award winning developer of the IL-2 series have focused their attention to detail to recreate the era, not just with the aircraft that fought across the skies but photo realistic terrain, thousands of villages, towns & cities, with ports, industrial areas and military bases faithfully recreated in perfect detail.
Obviously we expect Maddox Games to re-create in exacting detail the aircraft that the RAF and Luftwaffe fought with. That you can take any crew position in these aircraft and that the flight characteristics of each will be absolutely nailed on.
With over a dozen famous aircraft to master and a further 13 additional AI controlled aircraft filling the skies, Cliffs of Dover really is reaching for the skies.
You can immerse yourself in the single player campaign and fight to save Great Britain from destruction as one of the "few". There is interactive training, to get to grips with the flight models and master key skills to give you the edge in single and multi-player combat.
The multi-player is appropriately massive with up to 128 players able to join and a host of customizable modes available from simple death match through to free-for-alls taking place over Great Britain, Northern France and Belgium.
To make realize all of Maddox Games ambitions, Cliffs of Dover is brought to you on a brand new 3D Engine with DX10 and DX11 API support. 1940 never looked this pretty

Verhängnis 12-22-2011 02:59 PM

Such low prices are such an insult to a great product and the developers. Many many years of hard core development, writing their own graphics and flight modelling engine and with high detail and realism modelled, with no competitors and all they get for their hard work is about $15. I payed Aus $100 and despite it's state, it was worth every dollar, cent and decimal. :( It's stupid when 1-2 year old games are still 2-3 times more expensive...

LOL! That's true, I was so surprised on launch day when I was installing from the DVD version. Basically the disc just checked if I had steam installed -which I had- and then proceeded to download something. At first I thought it was some kind of patch that I needed to install the game but when I saw that the "patch" was over 4GB I was like "whaaat??!!". Only thing on the disc is Steam basically. No reason to buy the DVD version other than for collecting purposes. :)

P.S ALL my other DVD steam activated game are on their actual respective discs, CloD was the first I've had to have this way of installation.

It's not Steams fault AoA, for example I have the games Skyrim and Empire Total war on DVD. Both of those games installs from the DVD but they activate through steam and update through steam, the best thing though is that if your DVD breaks for some reason, you can still install your game by download from Steam. It's a great system, you're provided with game updates automatically and you can install your game(s) on multiple computers.

Problem wasn't steam, problem was that the publisher (ubisoft and 1c) for some unknown and stupid reason decided to release a steam activated game DVD without the actual game on it, don't ask me why because it's the first game I've heard of to do this.

Once you've installed CloD you just have to backup your "\steamapps\common\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover" folder.

After you've set up a new rig you just have to download and install steam. Then put your backed up "\steamapps\common\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover" back to where it belongs and you're done.

Things are easy. Really.

No need to buy a DVD version.

Al Capwn 12-23-2011 07:59 PM

You guys do realize that steam has a very nice backup function built in, right? Right click on your game -> Backup game files, choose your compression and it'll create a self installing .exe for you that you can backup to a dvd, multiple cds, NAS, you name it. You can even backup multiple games into the same .exe if you feel like it. Just a thought.

After you've set up a new rig you just have to download and install steam. Then put your backed up "\steamapps\common\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover" back to where it belongs and you're done.

Things are easy. Really.

No need to buy a DVD version.

Thanks guys!

But I was not looking for a backup.. I back it up like Foobar said.. When I do a PC cleanup.. That is after a year or so things get so messy.. Or if I am having issues that no one else seems to be having.. Than I re-format the drive and reinstall the OS and do a clean install of all the games.. You know to do the registry and all that goes with it. A truly clean slate ;)

S!

Still DVDs around here in the local game store Aces...

A steam backup still helps you there. They call it a "backup" but it's basically a fresh install.

after Luthier said they will not work on new planes for CLOD I would say 10 bucks is too much for this unoptimized unfinished (and wont be finished) ****

SturmKreator 12-24-2011 12:03 AM

I think the same, for that reason and because I have not a high end pc, never buy the game before.

Like 1946 CloD dont write files in registry, you can copy the install folder to another
partition or PC and execute then without problem.

In end DVD is almost useless, since they come with obsolete install version and need to download big updates.

BTW - Getsgamego now list CLoD for 49,99$...

but in a couple of hours should show the new price, or not?
In many sectors of US still is 23 december

ramstein 12-24-2011 07:50 AM

still is not shwoing a sale on cod..

Robert 12-24-2011 09:12 AM

It's up now.

I'm tempted, but with about 88kbs per second download speed this'll take a while to download. Anyone know how big the file for CoD is?

ramstein 12-24-2011 10:16 AM

it will not accept USA adresses.. even though it's a download... I thought there was a way to get around this,, just give a bogus address of another country? but what about the credit card matching the adress even though it's email delivery?

You must abort the steam donload
and the it installs from dvd

can confirm that.it will install the whole game, except the patches of course which will then get donwloaded by steam.

Oh, I'm in the U.S. too. I won't bother then. My PC is minimal and with the fiasco I experienced with GoGamer/Amazon and Steam with my original purchase I'm not going to muck about trying to get it to down load and work..... even at less than ten dollars.

ramstein 12-24-2011 12:45 PM

I got it working great, I just used PayPal..... No problem, it immediately sent me the info and link as soon as I hit pay and verified my e-mail,,

note: their download server is pretty dam slow,, but for $10.00 USD

woohoo!

Robert 12-24-2011 01:54 PM

do you know how fast it's downloading ramstein? As mentioned I download @ 88kbs. S L O W.

I looked and saw the file is over 4 GB. Huge for someone with a slow download speed. It's the main reason I prefer disc to download.

update: it's hauling butt right now,, been for a while..
@ 344 kb/sec.

this was for the first 3 hours, then my update shows it really picked up speed after that...
======================
it's miserably slow... if I say how slow I might scare some people off...
I will give them a couple more hours and maybe report back the speed, just to give it a chance to speed up.. but then again, it's Xmas over across the pond in a few hours and they will have to pass out from the drinks and maybe the sever will either blow up or speed up.. or both..

You not need to download from Getgames server, just use serial and install from STEAM.

I tried to use paypal, but it still says it isn't available for my country (USA). Did you just put in a different country? And can you verify that it works before I buy it?

Thanks :)
