Install and play ;) No problem out there anf no need for a Games folder on c. Just install wheere you want. Typically I let everything concerning games installing standard location as you never now, what happens in the future with some game patches, addobs, etc.

But I think you have enough knowledge about windows to do what you want.

I would have liked to see a ati user, but 670 should run well enough except some stutters of the weak memory interface of nvidia. Noted that before: Can be a problem, but in most games not, although it is nice to have a good interface in the future for engines with high texture loads like cry engine can do. But for now you are fine and as ling as game developers have to program bad games for bad working consoles, you will never have a problem. :) Considering that it is not that wrong!

@ Farber... There is not a problem ...yet. Like Slipball mentioned, I thought I should ask this ahead of time (before my rig arrives).

@ Stublerone... Thanks for the info. From what I have read though, I should be installing this onto an SSD rather than a HDD. And of course everything/everyone leaned me towards Nvidia, UNTIL I paid and ordered my machine. Only then does someone come out saying "I'd rather see ATI" lol :P

You inspired me EZ to get moving on my upgrade, I just bought a new board gigabyte ga-990FXA-UD3

My lean to ati just came in this generation of cards. I bought a watercooled 7970 and I am now proud to say, that it is the better card. Enough raw power, enough clock potential, enough ram, good ram interface better future and better built quality (bill of material components).

I am just a bit sad about the development of the market and its buyers. With the 6xx they sold a half of a normal card and now saw, that they nearly can do everything with the customers.

Sell them bad components? - Yes, they can!
Sell them less features for more or equal money than ever before? - Yes, they can!
Are people still thinking after all given facts, that their nvidia still won the contest? - Yes, they still do!
Are they writing senseless things on the box, which they do not seem to support? - Yes, they do and they found out, that customers do not seem to care about lies in their cases!

Although I was Nvidia user the whole time, I find it now totally unfair, that Ati did not get the additional market shares, as they deserve this year. You always see all the 15-year-old facebook-twitter guys posting senseless videos on youtube with their beloved 680 in sli! :)

BTW, posting videos anywhere in the internet should be forbidden. You see sime giod reviews concentrating on the facts with good knowledge and at the same time, you see nearly 100 guys showing also their review, where they say something like:
The packaging is awesome; I would recommend buying this! or
My new "justin bieber" beats headphones are great looking and the best quaility ever! You must buy it, because it is purple! (the kid do not know, that you could buy another earphone from sennheiser or another manufacturer half of the price)! or
My 7.1 headset is much better than a stereo! (which is not correct as a normal stereo headset is much more precise. Your ears would need to be measured for a sufficient 7.1 headset and noone has the same ears.

Just some examples and I swear to god, that once I see somebody in real life talking like that to me and do not stop after warning, he would get a big slap in the face. It seems, that their parents all forgot to give them some rules by habd for their lives. ;)

I am getting off-topic, sry!!! :) Just saw a review by a 12 year old yesterday and he was calling himself expert!!!! Grrrrrrrrrrr.... ;)

@ Slipball ... Good stuff.

@ Stublerone ...lol!

What about forwarding ports for multiplay?

Hey all, I'm no PC guru, want to get a new PC, and need some advice.

Currently I am unable to load missions with more than 8 or so planes in it, due to the mission simply not loading, the game crashing and/or locking up.

Just curious if anyone has a system similar that has the game running without crashing, locking up, etc,..,.?

ASUS 3rd Gen Intel Core i7-3770
16GB of DDR3-1600MHz RAM
3TB hard drive, 128GB solid state drive
AMD HD 7770 discrete graphics
ASUS Smart cooling system

Thanks in advance.

the problem you are describing is not a pc hardware problem (unless you have a faulty fan on the gfx card, or your cpu is wrongly setup in bios and seriously underclocked etc), you most likely have some kind of software (or virus or malware) problem, or your CoD is setup is corrupted, has wrong preferences setting, or some of the patches were not installed correctly. you might also have something like a full HD with no cache file space left, or gfx driver problem. if your pc runs well for all other normal functions and games, why not do a complete fresh CoD reinstall first ?

the only possible hardware element in your system that is a bit less then ideal (but still doesn't explain or justify your problem) to have a high performance pc for CoD is your gfx card (which prob only has 1 gb of vram). you could simply upgrade the gfx card to a 2 or 3gb vram more current high end model from ati or nvidia (depending on your brand preference, performance of high end cards from both manufacturers will be very similar)

to change your whole pc over and buy a new one is way overkill for the performance issue you describe. if you dont have a more pc skilled person to help you identify the cause of your problem, people in various forums can try and talk you through it over a few days so you can sort it out. but if you have the money to burn and it doesnt bother you to do so, then you might not care, but its a bit of a waste

your new pc sounds great, but other then the better gfx card giving you a good performance bump (and is very worthwhile to do if you can afford a new 2 or 3 gb high end card), but the rest of the system elements will make less then 5% difference to what you have now imho

oh gz..

@ Zapatista... You and Farber have read into this the wrong way.
Not anywhere here in this thread did I post the specs that I had when I was having these problems.. I had an antique PC that needed to be updated and the only specs that I have put up, were packages that I was considering buying. I know for a fact that my problems with getting the game running in certain scenarios is/was due to my old PC.. ....PERIOD!

Thanks for trying to help, but as you can see, I'm slowly starting to spend more time explaining things that I didn't say, than things that I did :)

So how about it people???? Do I have to open/forward any ports for multiplay?

The answer is no EZ, see post 18...Steam does that, just say yes when Windows asks you "do you what to allow this program to make changes to the computer"

JG26_EZ 01-09-2013 08:32 AM

Ahh. Understood, thanks.

JG26_EZ 01-11-2013 01:03 AM

Clod installed and starting to update.

Drumroll please...
