What??? That was a parody! Abortedman isn't a crying blouse......?

Sorry Snapper but I just don't believe you can re-write history that easy. The forum has documented events and It is clearly documented in history on YouTube that this video is actual footage from that time. And that the above is true. .........

But I agree with the rest u said

You've been a true gentleman through all of this, Wolf, even when the debate got quite heated -- many by yours truly. Thank you.

What you heard was not entirely accurate, but the reason Engine Temperature Effects was temporarily unchecked was to verify if the resulting change to the FM is the same on a major online server compared to what any of us can do ourselves offline on our own computers. Initial trials indicate yes.

We've done a number of side by side tests of various 109 models with their RAF counterparts (easily done on the Server) and the findings have been surprising. Again, this has been a test only to explore certain aspects of the online flight modelling of the CoD aircraft (others are checking the bombers of both sides) where side by side comparos can be quickly and readily done with experienced human virtual pilots. We have the main Server #1 which has remained Full Switch as an excellent reference for the same -- and current -- 1.08 beta patch.

Many have difficulty understanding the concept of running a test, and automatically assume that a temporary test is a permanent thing. Our Server #2 has done yeoman service as a testbed, primarily for new missions where many variables and glitches can be worked out. It is also doing exemplary service for us right now in running the temporary FM tests described above. It could conceivably be used for many other different types of testing in the future -- leaving the main Server #1 untouched. Many in ATAG understandably felt that, for the duration of any FM testing, Server #2 should be closed and passworded to avoid any confusion or misunderstanding of what the temporary testing means. However, other than by specific invitation, that would prevent non-ATAG fliers from having a 1 vs 1 try themselves out of interest or, hopefully, to relay their observances out of what specific changes they may have noticed to their favourite aircraft with ETE switched off vs ETE switched on (over on Server #1). Personally, I was in favour of a closed trial because of the possible reaction similar to that depicted in the ATAG parody video -- so many people automatically look to the worst of motives which don't actually exist.

The trial is expected to end shortly, as it is. Just a few quick tests to run, ETE will be switched back on, then back to mission testing per usual.

Thanks Snapper! Great explination. I look forward to the results! Will they be presented publically?

I think they've found some interesting results do this test. Perhaps they will share them in here as well.

The "Figgy Duff" reference is a bit of an ATAG inside joke, maybe ATAG_Septic could explain it for us.

Basically a "Figgy duff" is a dessert that is common to folk from jolly ol' England. This stems from ATAG's "love of cookies". :)

PS, the YouTube uploader's name might be a bit of a hint as to who made it. ;)
