I use a 32" Toshiba LCD-TV for gaming AND for everything else.
It rocks, I never missed a regular monitor since I bought it.

I use a 24" ACer.. got it for $300 on sale... not a problem.. so far anyway.... My main advice to you is if you are going LCD then go for a low response time. High contrast ratio and nothing under 24".
